  2. Don't fret, I wrote mine sitting in a hammock in the jungle a few hours before the wedding and they were perfect. There are no rules that say they need to be done in advance, and if there were I would tell you to break them anyway Write them when you are in a spiritually open place, whenever that may be. You are about to spend the rest of your life with the person you love the most, think about that and the words will come. If you can't get them right in advance I guarantee the words will flow on your wedding day. My vows were written to my hubby with a few inside jokes and didn't entirely make sense to the crowd, but they weren't for the guests, kwim? Have fun with it and know that there are no right or wrong things to say

  4. Oh wow!!! What a poor way to conduct business, so sorry you got wrapped up in it
  5. Wow you guys did an amazing job!!! The photos are beautiful! (and yes, the back of her dress is gorgeous!!)
  6. I was gone all weekend, thanks guys!!! Bday was great
  7. Technically there are no private beaches in CA so it gets a little tough, but if you are willing to pay you can find some pretty intimate spots. I think renting a beach house would be less expensive than buying out an entire restaurant/hotel on the beach. Some are ridiculous (like $15k/week) but many are a fraction of that. Also in a more residential area you will have less beach-goers than at a state beach area with parking lots where people come to spend the day. If you do look at beachfront rentals, be mindful of how much sand there is from the house to the shore...sometimes there isn't much which can make it hard to set up a wedding. Places like Malibu or Laguna Beach are going to be more expensive than places like Ventura or Sunset Beach, for example, so look a little off the beaten path and you can get more bang for your buck! Happy planning
  8. Oh no, this is so awful I don't know a lot about being a TA but I do know that our TA's here are good people who wouldn't let these things happen, so I feel like your TA is not on the ball. Is there anyone else you can complain to? If not I say go against your nature and go off on the TA...at least you should get a first class ticket out of this too! And I agree with a previous poster, this will be water under the bridge once you get there and marry your sweetie...but this whole process sucks so far!
  9. Hi marak, please search the site for all of the threads that answer these questions. There are plenty. The search function is at the top of your screen, above where it says "Welcome".
  10. You read my mind too! I want one, glad to know it works as advertised.
  11. Oh wow this is awful!! Miracles happen, maybe someone will find something that they can trace back to you somehow. Thieves aren't sentimental, they'll just take what is profitable and dump the rest so maybe if luck is on your side some stuff will turn up. Good luck and I'm sorry
  12. This is tough...I'm going back 2 years like Tammy! This just stood out in my memory bank: ~ Seeing him dressed in all white waiting for me on the beach as I started my walk was priceless. We hadn't seen each other in something like 10 hours and he looked so handsome I couldn't wait to get to the end of the aisle! ~ During the reception that night the ocean started glowing with bright blue dots, some sort of electric plankton that came out of nowhere and started washing up on shore. The moon was full and it was magical ~ Partying with him until the wee hours of the morning at a nightclub after the reception...we had a blast. I was up 24+ hours and not tired, that's what I call the wedding high
  13. There is a ton of info on this topic so let's not start another thread. I know you are new so no worries, but search the site for more info. The search function is on top, above where it says welcome.
  14. Maybe since they have never really gone on vacations they just don't see the point and they are just going for the wedding, you know? You can only try so hard to impress upon them what fun they would have. Sorry about your bro...I have no advice for that. For what it's worth none of our guests stayed an entire week (we barely stayed a week before flying off to our honeymoon) and many guests got to town the day before the wedding and left 1-2 days after. It all works out in the end and I'm glad you realize your decision to have a dw is non-negotiable. I hope you feel better soon
  15. **FYI** I merged the "What you're GLAD you did and what you WISH you had done different!" thread with this one.
  16. I love it! Glad to see the swine flu worked in your favor. Sounds like a great wedding. Congratulations
  17. No, no, no. Smitten, I'd encourage you to click on my siggy to study up on forum etiquette. Here is an excerpt worth noting: There is little to no tolerance for poor attitudes or snide remarks directed at BDW administration. Again, this is a free forum and as such, members are free to leave on their own at any time if they do not agree with forum policies and procedures. Your remark was snide and directed at BDW administration. You too are free to leave at any time, there is no need to be ugly. Please do not go there again.
  18. Oh my what a crazy ride that was!! Congrats on the wedding...at least you have your sense of humor. Many a bride would have flew off into a nervous breakdown!!!
  19. I've seen their cakes and they look good to me. Take it from people who are married, the cake is like the 17th thing you'll notice at your wedding, meaning it's not that big of a deal in comparison to the important stuff. (believe it or not some people don't even get around to eating it) In any case if it is a high priority for you then as the others said if you do some searching you'll find more info on alternate bakers. FYI - you could have just said their cakes aren't your style. When you hunt down your perfect cake and someone calls it sad and cheesy maybe you'll get it.

I think I am bothered by the commercials in general that say to ask your doctor for a drug/vaccine. It's a little too infomercial for me. Anyway, I would not have my daughter take this but again it's a personal choice that we all make for our own reasons
  21. Deanna, I would send her statistics on crime in her area. If she is in CA her stats may be worse than those of MX. Chances are there are multiple murders and horrible things that happen in her county or city and she LIVES there...maybe that will knock some sense into her
