  1. I'm having my songs pre-mixed by a DJ friend and put on several CD's. My WC gave me a very specific time chart so I know how much time I need to cover for the pre-ceremony cocktails, ceremony, post-ceremony cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. Ask yours if that info is available. I'm giving instructions to the person playing them for me and labeling discs in English & Spanish as well - ceremony, cocktail, dinner, reception1, reception2, etc. Someone told me itunes plays songs back to back so there are no pauses between songs, I think that was what you were referring to. I'm not sure if that is recordable though, but it's worth looking into.
  2. I'm so sorry and I can so relate to this. One of my bm's who I asked because I've known her for many years has been lagging on everything. She's in grad. school and has little money, I knew that when I asked her so suggested she think about it before she said yes. She said yes and plans proceeded. To make a long story short, she stops responding to group bm emails about hotel/dress stuff. I get a text - yes, on my phone! - from her saying she won't have the dress money until about 6 weeks before the wedding, can only afford 2 nights hotel and that's if she can share a room with someone, and she won't have that money for awhile either. I left her a voicemail giving her numbers of other singles who wanted to share a room. No response. I finally email her and say I want you to be in this, but I have programs to print and I'm not printing your name on it if you aren't going to be there. You aren't standing up there without the proper dress. If you can't swing it I will not be mad if you tell me now because I can still replace you, but if you tell me next month I will be stuck and I don't know how I'll deal with you after that. She called me, apologized for causing me extra stress, and put everything on a credit card. At least that's what she said . . . you'll all hear about it if she doesn't come through like she promised! I see why people elope . . . .

  4. Thanks for the link & info ladies, I'll check with my airline too. FI suggested it may be banned because a big box of matches may catch fire/explode.
  5. Woohoo!!!! Congrats to you both . . . take mental notes and lots of pics for us! And don't forget to have a blast
  6. Never been to Belize but I know many Belizeans who speak highly of its natural beauty. We're honeymooning at Riu Ocho Rios and that was highly recommended to me by people who have stayed there, it is fairly new. Check tripadvisor.com too, they ususally have informative reviews and candid pics from people who have stayed there. Good luck!
  7. Those seashell shakers are cool! And I want your monster cookie recipe...mmmm. We're making CD's as a soundtrack to our love, ordering custom labels/cases, and sealing them with ribbon & a sticker of our monogram. I may also add personalized mint tins or candles . . . still adjusting the budget.

  9. I wanted to order those personalized matchbooks to set on the tables, but noticed that the websites say they cannot ship internationally. Would that mean I could not check them in our luggage on the plane to Mexico either?
  10. Ouch! That is quite a lot I think, my bridal shop does free alterations thank goodness, is there a fashion district where you live? I know in downtown L.A. there are tons of seamstress shops that are inexpensive. A coworker paid $150 to have a bra sown in a straps adjusted on her gown. Keep checking, there must be something less expensive than that!
  11. Do it!! One of our guests is a recording artist and we may have her sing me down the aisle to that "she's your queen to be" song from Coming to America. Most untraditional, but we like a good time and our guests know that. We're playing a classic by War for our walk down the aisle together. . . here's to starting new traditions!!! You won't regret it!!
  12. I have the spanx that look like biker shorts (waist to mid-thigh). I only wore them once but I thought they did their job without being uncomortable. I will say though that when I opened them I thought they would be too small and I ordered a size up to be safe! You just have to stretch the heck out of them to get them on.
  13. I would love to also but I am pinching pennies right now!! I wish I would have thought of this a few months ago. Maybe I'll do it post-wedding. It would still be a surprise!!
  14. A bunch of us here are marrying at Las Caletas (P.V. Mexico). It's not a resort, but it is a private island-like beach and it honestly is not too expensive. Maybe you could find a intimate family-friendly resort then have the actual ceremony at Las Caletas. It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere (no roads, very quiet). I'm sure there is a resort out there that fits your needs so don't stress yet, wait until your guests lag on their reservations . . . now that's stress!!
  15. I agree when it comes to sunscreen, I would never provide old sunscreen for the reasons you stated for sure. I guess the opposite effect of moisterizer would be to dry out the skin? Not good either. I'll have to let you guys know if anyone turns into a lizard, lol.
  16. I love the evite idea, nothing wrong with that. For us roughly 20% who said yes at first ended up saying no. That seems like a lot, not sure about other brides. I think people get really excited and think it is such a cool idea, but when they seriously consider time and finances some have to bow out. That may be the most difficult thing about planning a DW!
  17. Maybe my mom . . . my bm's don't know I've vented about them here, LOL!

We might order one, it's hard to find stuff that suits us because we are different colors (lol) but seriously, there isn't much out there for couples like us. Too cute!!!
  19. We opted out of blocking rooms for that reason. It came down to sacrificing what we wanted for a place all guests could afford, or just letting everyone do what works for them. For some people we knew it would be hard enough for them just to get to Mexico, let alone pay what we said they should for accommodations. On our website we posted where we will be and suggested hotels in various price ranges that weren't too far from us. As it turned out, about 1/3 of our guests will be at our hotel. The rest are everywhere from $40 motels to the Four Seasons. We will still see each other at the wedding and prior to it, so everything will work out.
  20. I didn't get them yet but I'll check the date & post it when I know. This sounds horrible - but - I didn't think about that and I'm not that concerned. Some of the stuff I'm putting in the bags I honestly think most people will bring on their own (sunscreen/meds/lotion/etc.) But I'm counting on some folks to forget so that's where this came in. I wouldn't include expired sunscreen or meds, but worst case scenario, I wonder how harmful can expired after-sun aloe & stuff be?
