  1. I'm getting him my love and devotion for as long as we live You mean I'm supposed to buy him a gift too? Damn . . . . the budget increases . . . first marriage here . . . what do I know?

It's either that, Spend My Life With You by Tamia & Eric Benet, or The Air I Breathe by Teena Marie - the most beautiful love song I know but I'm hesitant because I cry listening to that in the car and I don't know if I can handle it at the wedding!!
  3. Wow!! You are a hot bride and I absolutely LOVE your dress!!! Congrats!!
  4. We're getting our GM gear from these places and they have extended sizes, one of our gm is 6'5" too. Friday shirts has guayaberas that sound like what you are looking for: Guayabera, Guayabera shirts, Hawaiian dresses, Camisa, Mexican wedding shirts Beach Wedding Attire: Drawstring Linen Pants, Cotton & Linen Shirts, Shorts for Men & Women - Island Importer
  5. Yep I echo everyone else . . . I wanted a simple white dress, started trying on wedding dresses, and chose a corset back wedding dress. I figure I can always wear a simple white dress to a party, but how often can you wear a formal wedding gown somewhere? Hopefully just once...lol
  6. Sweet! Let's hope my parents follow suit . . . they did just refi their house . . . hmmmm. . .I better not get a blender from them, LOL

On to the gifts, I don't give cash or gift certificates since I shop sales and get stuff that's worth more than a gift certificate would be. The last wedding I attended I paid $45 for a set of Austrian Crystal flutes that were originally $130 and nobody was the wiser. I wouldn't have paid the $130 because it was just a co-worker, but I would spend that on someone close to me. Melissa I hope I have a $5000 guest . . . I hope I have a $500 guest for that matter!!
  8. This is like on AI last night when Ryan asked Melinda to pick a side so she sat down and refused to pick, lol... well not that serious but it's tough! This time around I'll say mexicomelissa. She is hilarious, replies to a lot of posts, and basically always has something to offer.

Thanks La Palapa quoted $45pp for chicken, $59 I think for filet mignon, drinks not included Los Burros quoted $22pp for chicken & beef fajitas, 2 beers & 1 margarita pp River Cafe quoted $45pp I think it was fish & chicken? We chose Barcelona Tapas based on food and killer views. My brother is an event planner and did the negotiating with the owner who is from Chicago and super nice. I think it's between $40-50 pp at this point. I know we get several cold and hot tapas pp, desserts, pitchers of sangria, softdrinks, and beers (all unlimited). The food is so varied and is served family style which will be great for getting guests to interact. There are tons of great places in P.V though. My WC suggested La Palapa and El Arrayan.
  10. Bad day for me. Not only did I not excercise before work, I got to work with my healthy food and it was fiesta day ( There were chiles rellenos, homemade flour tortillas, beans, rice, enchiladas . . . ugggh . . . I had to partake and damn was it good. But I feel like a sack of flour right now
  11. I'm going to Target tomorrow to check it out. I'll let you L.A. girls know what they have.
  12. I would sell it. I don't think it is bad luck to wear it but if that thought is in your head it will turn itself into a bad luck charm from the energy surrounding it. Then if something goes wrong you'll say "it's the dress". Ditch it. It will be fun to pick a new dress for your new man )
  13. Yes on chairs and petals if you like, it doesn't matter how few guests are there. BTW I'm almost jealous, it sounds like a lovely intimate wedding!! We're having our guests blow bubbles as we walk down the aisle . . . I've loved bubbles since forever so it will add to the magic of the day and probably make some cool photos too.
  14. My MOH gave me a wedding planner so the first thing I bought was STD magnets, I jumped on that!!
  15. I love it. Don't worry about the old folks, some of them may even get a chuckle out of it. It's fun to make wedding stuff your own where you can so go for it!
  16. We agonized over this . . . parents & FI thought it was good enough to make a reservation for 40 and everyone pays for themselves. I wanted to host something though, even just cocktails/chips/etc. I ended up booking a full dinner/drinks sans the parents money because it was something I wanted. I googled PV restaurants, checked photos and reviews on tripadvisor/igougo/yahootravel, then contacted the restaurants directly via the email addresses on their websites. Most of them replied promptly with quotes and that's how I did it.
  17. Wow if you were in CA I'd say we have the same dressmaker LOL!! Mine is supposed to be ready next Friday . . . stay tuned )
  18. We were 100% against it since we too have been together 7 years but we did it anyway and honestly it was a pleasant surprise. Ours was through a church but what we liked was that there were about 50 other couples there so it wasn't an in your face evaluation like we thought it would be. It was one married couple sharing their hilarious stories and posing questions to us to discuss among ourselves. I don't think we would have enjoyed a "share your feelings with the group" type class so this worked for us. Give it a shot, we're always changing so you may just learn something new about your spouse and vice versa.

Actually, come to think of it, I might NOT be doing a change since my wedding dressmaker is MIA with 2 months to go before I get married! Yikes. My dressmaker was MIA last month too but it all worked out, they don't want to face the wrath of an angry bride! Hope you find her soon!!
  20. I guess I'm a diva too, I'm changing into a more casual white dress after dinner. I love to dance and wanted something I could really groove in!
  21. That sure is great . . . I hope the people that can't make it to my shower send their money too!!
  22. yay!! I'm happy it's settled, we're honeymoonig in Ocho Rios too . . . very romantic so I hear!
  23. Aww, I'm sorry about that. I still find dresses that seem to appear out of nowhere and it sucks because where were they when I needed them?? I understand. Maybe there will always be that "I should have picked that dress" thing no matter what dress(es) you end up with. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to have a perfect day but I bet in the end most brides look back and realize it isn't such a big deal. Of course it is our day to shine but if you deeply love your husband the trimmings don't really matter. I bet he'll think you are a goddess if you walked down the aisle in a $25 white sundress so don't sweat it, try to have fun with it )
