Do what matters to you, you can't please everyone. Sorry, I had to...hehehe Seriously, if she won't go and you won't go if she won't go, then what are you supposed to do, ask her where she will go? I understand the fear of someone who doesn't travel and then hears these horrific stories, but as much as "It's his mother", he's her son. Maybe she'll realize that and step out of the comfort zone. Would you two be happy with giving up the beach wedding you would love to have? I hope I don't sound overly harsh but I wouldn't cave on this one or you may be setting yourself up for a marriage of catering to mom. Some people elope, at least you're giving her the opportunity to go. Just a thought.

It is pretty darn funny. Bob Fosse was an awesome choreographer. Random fact, that chick in the middle (Gwen) was married to him at one time. The music on the original makes it even funnier somehow. The original: YouTube - Gwen Verdon-Mexican Breakfast

Very cool Kate! Dancing is a really bonding experience with your partner. It's something you can do throughout your marriage, plus your guests will appreciate your efforts.

We spent a week in Mexico for the wedding then flew to Ocho Rios for 7 glorious days. Then I had a week off in L.A. when I came back......needless to say it was a tough transition back to the real world!

No problem....pm me with your email address and I'll send it to ya.

I had to share this, even if you don't know the song it's funny. Some clever youtuber synched it up with a Fosse routine from the 60's. Enjoy ) YouTube - Walk It Out, Fosse

We ended up using "The Air I Breathe" by Teena Marie which is such a romantic love song, I'm teary eyed just thinking about it. I can email it to anyone who wants to hear it...it's on one of those hard to find albums.

Their name kicks ass.....you should send an announcement with their name on it to your ultra conservative aunt you told us about before...hahaha Sounds good.....congrats on the find!!

Ideas for Napa?
starchild replied to Rachelle E.'s topic in Northern California: Napa Valley - Wine Country Weddings
I knew I wasn't crazy! I used to go to the tiny Donna Karen and Escada outlets when I was addicted to brand names in high school (haha), but it's in St. Helena, not Calistoga. It's right down the road from Napa: Napa Valley, CA - St. Helena Premium Outlets: 25-65% savings at name brand stores -
Ideas for Napa?

The Bay is known for April showers too but I wouldn't let it stop you from coming, it's not like people stay inside when it rains, lol. I totally stayed at the Lafayette Park Hotel when I was in like 7th grade for a friend's birthday slumber party. It was beautiful but I'm sure it's even nicer now. Just an FYI Napa is a decent drive from Walnut Creek, not bad, but just know that they aren't adjacent to each other. Shopping - I got you here. The Napa Premium Outlets. Very cool stores and restaurants along the way there. Napa Premium Outlets I swear we used to go to a small like 8 store outlet center in Calistoga but I can't find it online, if I do I'll add it. Oh you'll have a blast, pack a cooler and pull over for a picnic (if it's dry), tour some wineries, take pictures for us ) -

I couldn't understand many of the (HEAVILY accented) things he said, and at one point, it sounded like he said, "your love is endless...like the grapes" and you could see the confusion on my face while he kept repeating it, until then he motioned to the sea behind him and said, "you can hear them now" and I realized he was saying "waves." Also, we requested a non-denominational ceremony, and he did a LOT of LONG praying, in which you can see Michael and I getting antsy and giving each other glances. Then I got the giggles because when it was the "repeat after me" part, neither one of us monkeys could resist saying our vows in heavily accented English. I mean, a little bit of them. I'm sure someone has some great pictures of my new brother-in-law who decided to fall off the wagon after 12 years of sobriety the day before our wedding, proceeded to be wasted the entire day, broke two chairs at the welcome dinner, stuck his head in my boobs when he was hugging me goodbye, and took off his clothes at the outside bar while laying across some tables. He was escorted out by hotel security and THEN was MIA for the 10:00 ceremony the next day...good thing he wasn't the best man or anything. Also, my cousin was so wasted the entire time, that he came in to my welcome dinner, backed up to me doing a booty dance, and sang at the top of his lungs "Oh yeah! Big booty hos!" Good times, my wedding. Good times. Omg I am cracking up!!!! I can picture the whole thing playing out, not understanding your ceremony, brother in laws picks your wedding to lose it, cousin drunk as hell. LOL Your brother in law's behavior will be legendary! How the heck did he break not 1 but 2 chairs? I wish we could see that video too, whenever you need a laugh pop it on. Classic drunken wedding moments!

Why Men Can't Be Allowed To Plan Weddings:

hahaha Now that's a friend, he didn't even require the details he just showed up at his door! -

No it cut off like 1 minute into the fire dancers...I figured maybe you didn't put the whole thing online because it was a weird place to stop it lol. I don't think he was on our boat ride home either, but we we started a dance party on the upper deck so who knows who was downstairs, lol. One of our guests taped them announcing us getting on the boat and us doing shots with Nicole and Brad (ha), but that was it for the footage of that night. Oh well, the professional video still rocks.

Ann, I meant to get back and watch the whole thing and forgot about it - until now. I loved your video! It brought back so many memories for me. Our videos were very similar, except he played music over some parts where I would have rather heard people, but we have other videos so it's okay. Did he cut out the fire dancers or is that not the whole video? Just wondering where your video stopped, because he got the whole fire show on ours but didn't tape anything after that which irked me a little because there were still a few hours left he didn't get - and that's when everyone was up dancing ( Anyway, I can't complain it is a nice memory )

No but I don't know why we never go because from L.A. it is super cheap. I hear the beaches aren't the best for swimming, i.e. rough surf, but it still looks beautiful. BDW field trip? I'm down.

OOT Bags overboard
starchild replied to Darlsay's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Kelly - That was sweet of you to give bags to people not even going, never heard of that one before ) We gave most of ours out at the Welcome Dinner. As people arrived they were given their bag and a glass of sangria...yum! The people we saw before the WD got theirs in advance. I think it's a nice touch to hand deliver them rather than have a hotel employee do it...plus the bags are never out of your control. -
Congratulations on your Bahamas proposal

The grass is greener on the other side, lol. Oh how I have longed for hair that is straight, hair that looks the same wet and dry. I have yet to own a flat iron that keeps my hair as silky straight as yours is. Don't mess with a good thing! I've given up on straightening and learned to love my partially curly/partially wavy/partially straight hair. Have you ever tried washing and then braiding your hair wet? Play with it, you can change the thickness of braids to get different types of loose waves. A french braid creates nice waves too. My cousin has fine straight hair and this makes her look like she has a good perm.

Oh Catherine I say don't buy it, and stop looking because you will drive yourself mad (and him if he finds out). You will get married when the time is right, no need to jump the gun. The main thing is that he is there for you everyday, right? You don't need a license or a dress for that )
