TIA Sorry I'm late....it is located downtown just off of Matamoros, set back in the hilly area. Centrally located though and so worth a visit. The food is phenomonal, truly. Welcome to BarcelonaTapas.net Mexican food is tricky....there are a bunch of places I just never tried them. We've had Mexican food at Cafe Bohemio in the romantic zone and No Name Cafe on the Malecon but it has to get better than that. The food was decent but not outstanding. Try to go to El Repollo Rojo (red cabbage). I never make it there but it gets top reviews for authentic Mexican food. People rave over the Frieda and Diego wedding fiest. Google it and you'll see the reviews...here's an article: Red Cabbage Café (El Repollo Rojo), Puerto Vallarta Vacation and Travel Guide: Los Angeles Times Travel

I don't know much about the quality difference in pricing. Target sells veils online now along with their wedding dresses...they are like $15. You'd have to order it to see the quality though. I don't recommend paying a lot. I did, I loved my veil, but it was on for like 15 minutes. If you want to skip it just flowers would be beautiful. I had a flower tiara made but it was too much with the veil so I gave it to the flower girl. Alone, it would have rocked.

YES! I didn't step foot in a store until February for my June wedding. Most people here are so dress-happy that I felt bad for not caring...lol But I didn't. I looked online at places that were easy to order from like Macys/Nordsrtoms/Neiman Marcus. They have white casual wedding dresses that are a few hundred dollars and ship the next day so I figured I'd get one of those eventually. Then one day I went alone to the bridal shop at the persuasion of my mom (go alone-other people just want you to get the dress they would wear) and tried on 3 dresses. I liked the 3rd one and it was a wrap. It had a corset back and felt bridal. I didn't care to see #4, I liked #3 well enough, it was not expensive, and that was that. I didn't have that "This is the dress I've always dreamed of" moment, maybe because I didn't have a lot invested in finding "the one". You wear it for a few hours and it goes away for life...plus it has nothing to do with your love for each other. My cousin told me a wedding dress is supposed to make you feel special and beautiful and that I should take my time to find the right one. Well I don't know what's wrong with her but I feel beautiful in jeans and flip flops just like you guys...lol I don't need to spend $2000 to feel special. I bet Joe is a lot like Will - I could have walked down in a $14.99 white sundress from Target and he would have been awestruck and I would have been comfortable...lol Don't trip, you'll find what you want even if you wait until the last minute. Did I ever show you this site before? They have inexpenisive casual dresses that are cute: PictureTrail

Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta
starchild replied to TammyWright's topic in Puerto Vallarta Accommodations & Site
Yep, from my experience the beaches are better in the hotel zone. The first time I went to PV a cabby told us that the hotels and such in the Marina are built on an old landfill and that the beach is basically manmade. The hotels there are gorgeous though. Paying for all those people does cost a heck of a lot. If you do stay at the FA everyone will have a good time so don't worry about it. Plus, if they don't like the beach there and want to get in the ocean, they can always walk down the beach or take a cab to Playa Los Muertos which is close and has nice water. It will all work out ) -

Who has a good chile relleno and/or Mexican rice recipe?
starchild replied to starchild's topic in Martha Stewart Wannabees!
Oooh thanks Paula, that would be awesome! And Tammy I know your pain...I've done a lot of experimenting to no avail. My friend's mom makes the best rice but won't share her secret...I've seen her do something with chiles & spices in a blender before it hits the pot but that's all I know ( -

Karen are you guys bringing over the fillings and using her press to put together your raviolis? If so that is the coolest club I've ever heard of.....how fun is that?

Only one reason? Tara you're killing me!!! LOL First off we picked PV because it has so much character. There are places where you almost feel you are trapped in time. Very cool. As for Las Caletas......it's hard to pick one reason but I'll try. I'm pretty much with Lindsay. Will and I were there for the Rythyms of the Night tour a few years back and fell in love with the magic and remoteness of it all. When we found out they did weddings we knew that was the place. We're the types to go against the grain (actually I bet most LC couples are) so having a wedding like everyone else didn't appeal to us. We also didn't want the cookie cutter resort wedding (and yes no offense to resort brides, the weddings are gorgeous too) but they seem so generic and more like wedding farms than people who care. LC does a bunch of weddings but they haven't lost the ability to make you feel like your wedding is the only wedding. Plus we didn't want drunk Bob and his 6 partied out friends staring at our wedding, or nosey Sally pointing and getting all in our special moment - not even from afar. We only wanted to see each other and our guests/staff. That's what we got. PRIVACY! That may well be my favorite thing about having my wedding at LC. My girls and I spent the day there and after the afternoon tour left it was just the 6 of us and the staff who was preparing for our wedding. My cousin took a nap on the beach and someone woke her up to say the boat was leaving...she said she was staying and the person was like "How do you do that? I want to stay". LOL She said she felt like royalty...lol...and when the boat passed by people were looking like who is she and how come she gets to stay? We had total privacy!!! When I wrote my vows right before the ceremony I was up there in a hammock and all I could see below was the emerald water and the occasional staff member walking by. No noise. No PEOPLE!!! It's the best, and if you've been to LC before on a tour you ain't seen nothing until you're there and the tour isn't...one of the most peaceful days of my life. Most people can't say that about their wedding day )

Puerto Vallarta Maps
starchild replied to chrisnessa's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
I probably infringed upon some copyrights, but I copied and pasted the ones I found online into a word document and made color copies to insert into my welcome booklets. Try contacting the PV tourism board, if there is such a thing? -

Good base for exploring Mayan ruins?
starchild replied to starchild's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
Thank all of you for your useful info! Chichen Itza is definitely on the list. Thanks for the distances Jason. The more we look into it we are thinking maybe somewhere between Tulum and Xcalak. If time allows, maybe we can venture into Belize and see some of the ruins in the northern part of the country. And thanks for the link Paula, I do remember Matt's photos...a very cool historical town and I'm a history nerd so that's right up my alley! -
What's your favorite date night (or day) activiity?

We're toying with the idea of a RM vacation. We mainly want to spend our time visiting ruins so we don't need to be near clubs or other hot spots. There are tons of resorts that look great. Can anyone recommend a resort that is close to a good number of archaeological sites? AI is preferred but not necessary.

I know very little about RM but I'm sure you'll get the help you need here. Happy planning )
