  1. Viva debate! When things are typed you can't evoke tone and I think sometimes things can be read a little more harshly than they were intended to be. Or maybe they are meant to be harsh, but whatever the case we can all respectfully agree to disagree. That's why I like it here, there are other websites/forums to get down and dirty on should the need arise...lol You should hear some of the insults thrown around on a social justice forum I recently subscribed to!
  2. Thanks for sharing the review you found. I honeymooned there and my experience was truly different than the complainer's. Time isn't money in all parts of the world and we appreciated their laid back approach there - we were there to relax and as someone else said, having the right attitude means everything, no matter where you go. We were offfered drugs by several people but it wasn't a dangerous situation, they ask nicely and leave you alone. Actually we were only offered ganja (which is a religious practice for many, but not all, people there) and I don't know if they push real drugs too. Overall we were treated very well. They did think my husband was Jamaican (until he opened his mouth...lol) but I think it was our relaxed mode and joy just to be there that eliminated service problems. The people who get treated poorly are probably the unreasonable rude Americans that we encountered around the resort. There were mainly Europeans when we went but boy could you spot the Americans complaining and perpetuating the stereotypes from a mile away. I don't think you RIU brides should worry about this or other bad reviews. Just pack your party hats and catch the Island vibe.
  3. Focus on the good and only bring up the bad to remember how you will not subject your children to that type of behavior. There is inherent good in everyone, it hurts when people can't see that and destroy lives in the process. You will remain in my prayers.
  4. Yep we had some sickies who thought they were above dramamine and tossed their cookies. Our people who drank and took dramamine were fine, although I think the label advises against it. There is now a "less-drowsy" version of dramamine so check that out. For people who can't take dramamine-like pills, I have heard those seasick bracelets help. They sell them at my Walgreens.

  6. Or how about just "Introducing Bob and Mary Johnson"? Everyone already knows your maiden name, you can attach it later but for the ceremony it doesn't need to be said.
  7. No problem, glad you could use it. If you still can't see the pics I can try to repost or email them.
  8. There were kids at our wedding (which was not in a dangerous location) and all went well for us. Whatever you decide and whatever your guests think of your choices, all they have to do is come if it works for them and not come if it doesn't. Enjoy your wedding. It is about you two, your friends, families, spiritualities, etc. for sure, but if people complain or suggest that since they are travelling just to see you that you should have your wedding their way, they may not be the type of guests you want present on such a positive day anyway. The people that truly support your love won't take offense at the way you choose to celebrate it.
  9. Oooh that's very cool. It is more difficult than it looks, but you can get the hang of it fairly quickly with practice. My ex-roomate dated this girl who just moved from Japan and she showed us how to do it a few times...you'll have fun!
  10. Welcome and happy planning! You'll love Las Caletas if that's where you end up )
  11. We did ours a week or so before we left. We both had to appear in person to get our license before we could get married. In L.A. there are several courthouses to choose from but appointments fill up fast and they wouldn't make an appointment for the wedding until we got the license. By then the original date we wanted wasn't available so we had to move it up a bit. Double check with your courthouses to see whether they accept walk-ins or what the appointment process is.
  12. I've been out of town, just caught up to this "challenge" LOL I changed ours to a hand holder )
  13. Aww I love those pics. Sometimes the random ones like those are the best! Your post wedding disco dress looks so cool and breezy. We went clubbing after our wedding too!! Good times )

Did you guys see Superbad? When the cops break up the house party and the cop with the glasses is holding a beer dancing to NWO singing along to the words "F@ck the police!"? I was literally peeing my pants!!!!!! Glenda you slay me too, lol. I haven't seen Superbad yet but I keep hearing how funny it is!
  15. fair question..lol I had just got off work and needed a metallic silver pen for a project I'm working on. I knew Kinko's had them. Since it was on my way home and they are open 24 hours I stopped in - and was treated to a show..haha
  16. This is too priceless not to share . . . So I'm at Kinko's at like 4am today, and this middle aged L.A. county sheriff is in line in front of me paying for his copies. He turns to leave and his stack of papers falls out of his folder and all over the floor. I look down and there are several color copies of a fake CA license plate that says "I♥COCK". The sheriff and I look at each other and we both start cracking up. I didn't know why he had them but it sure was funny. He says "Only in West Hollywood" and proceeds to tell me this story about how he came out of 7-11 and found one of these fake license plates taped to his sheriff truck. The whole time he is smiling and saying how they are impressive, someone put a lot of work into them, etc. I say "That was pretty ballsy of someone but at least you have a really good attitude about it". And he's like "Oh yeah, you have to have a sense of humor. Now if this happened to a rookie he would be seeing red right now. If it were LAPD somebody would be getting beat". While I'm containing my laughter his cell rings and he recounts the story and can barely get it out because he is laughing so hard. Apparantly he was on his way to the station to put them on the cars of the other sheriffs, thus the stop at Kinko's I told him he had to be the coolest sheriff in town. After he left the Kinko's guys and I were cracking up and said nobody's going to believe us! It was pretty darn funny
  17. Drea you are your own worst critic, they are beautiful! The close ups are amazing!! Looks like a blast )
  18. This is the thread that doesn't stop giving...lol Thanks ladies!! I've got the roasting chiles down, we do them over open fire too in my family. Except we're Italian so we roast bell peppers & add garlic/seasoning and eat it on bread...so good. I appreciate everyone's input. It's neat to see how recipes vary by family )
  19. I just called them and said "we're getting married and I would like you to be a bridesmaid". Simple and effective, lol. There are "Will you be my bridesmaid" cards you can get but anyway you ask them, it's the asking that counts. You can be as simple or fancy as you like.
  20. Thanks Paula! That sounds delicious too!!! I did buy the knorr tomate at the store to have on hand but I haven't made any of them yet. I sure will and will let you guys know how badly I messed them up...lol

I still haven't mastered the uploading of pictures, so forgive me for the word file! Right now copying and pasting seems to work best for me Your MIL did a great job. Cute princess dress and little girl )
  23. That's so cute ) You may surprise yourself and be composed. The song I picked to walk down the aisle to makes me cry when I listen to it in the car...lol...but I was fine on the big day )
  24. Yay! That is the coolest feeling. We didn't want one either and my mom insisted that some people depend on them. We started getting gifts before the wedding and they still come in. It's a nice bonus ) I should add ours was a wedding registry not a honeymoon one, but gifts are gifts!
  25. hahaha Tara that is hilarious! They want all the comforts we do, so funny! Then they look at you like "what do you want, I'm sleeping". Mine does that too )
