  1. Welcome back and thanks for sharing! I second everything you said about Roberto Aceves. He really is a sweet man. I'm glad she was happy with everything!
  2. Royfa's thread made me realize I never got back to this one after we finalized the plans. We ended up paying for the WD at a restaurant called Barcelona Tapas in PV. After pricing it seemed even just having apps & drinks at any restaurant was costly so we bit the bullet and organized a full dinner. It was beautiful and expensive and very worth it. I'm sooo glad we did it )
  3. Anything goes and it is not necessary, but our welcome dinner ended up to be a highlight of the trip. The first thread below I started when I was on the fence about having one too. Check them all out for different takes on it and ways to do it: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ner-blues.html http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...me-dinner.html http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...me-dinner.html
  4. Aww, I love your Nana! She is too cute ) Very cool album. I've seen your pics before but that reminded me how fun everything looked.
  5. All of my dress-up pics are before the era of digital cameras! I'll scan something or at least put up a pic of my doggie in her costume )
  6. Here I am, agreeing with Ann as predicted...hahaha I do think it's cool that they are getting the new stuff for people with fancier taste, but I loved my simple cake and it sure was tasty. Shoot, I thought it was fancy that they picked flowers to put on it, lol.
  7. You can totally skip the programs. We had a decent sized wedding party but that wasn't why we got them, we got program fans because we thought they would help beat the heat (which they did) plus we wanted to put our favorite love poem & a thank you note on something. It cost the same to put the wedding party info on the other side so we added that too.
  8. Yep, I'm the Jamy who suggested the 2nd dress and I was glad to get into something I could really dance in. Even just in case, I say bring a change of clothes. Other than that I brought the basic stuff I knew I needed to get ready plus a camera, gifts for the flower girl/BMs, gifts for my parents, candles for the casita (they have tons though), a journal that I wrote my vows in, cell phone, towels for the shower/beach, that's about all I can think of!
  9. Ouch! All I can say is that when I was there in June the water was spectacular and we spent hours each day in it and had no problems. I agree with Jerzzygirl, I would kill to be on that beach right now!!! Here's hoping it's not entirely true.
  10. The vows almost made me cry, especially hearing his. But I kept it together though. I wrote mine on a piece of notebook paper a few hours before the ceremony. I was completely relaxed and ready to marry him so they just flowed out naturally. My MOH held onto mine until I needed them, and hubby kept his in his pocket. My MOH snapped this pic of me writing my vows at Las Caletas when I wasn't looking:
  11. This happened to me and I ended up getting my dress less than a week before I left for the wedding (in hindsight that worked well as I didn't have to hide it for long). I didn't shout or curse, but I made it very clear that I would have a dress to take on that plane with me. I finally spoke with the owner and told her that if my dress was not ready by a certain date, I would come down there and pick a dress from the store at her expense, and that I would sit there while they altered it so I could take it home. She assured me as the owner that it would be there, and it was, but I received a discount just for asking. Have a back up plan just in case the store doesn't come through, you can deal with them later but you'll still need a dress. My backup was a bridal gown from Nordstrom's website that ships fast (2-3 days expedited) and I had already spoke to a local shop about getting quick alterations if needed. Hopefully you get your dress in time too. It is frustrating for sure (
  12. Beautiful!! You two are the cutest together )
  13. It's great that you got to meet Kelly. Holy cow, when I first went to LC (about 4 years ago) I would have never imagined they would be doing trade shows in the U.S.! I think those of us who already married there or are set to marry there may have gotten in before prices soar and dates are near impossible to get. But yes, it is a truly magical place and you will see why those of us who have been there always rave about it!

  15. Some people have done bonfires/marshmellow roasts. I don't know if your resort will do this but that would be something your whole group can do.
  16. Threading hurts like a biotch to me, Marie I salute you for being able to withstand it! I've never sugared either but I've seen the kits at the store. When I use wax I get the Sally Hanson kit where the strips are pre-set with wax and there is no heating, you just rub them between your hands to warm them. Those work well for me but I may try the sugar as an experiment.
  17. I so love your wedding dress, it's beautiful!!! It's almost your turn It's nice to have BMs to help get that stuff done.
  18. Shelly I love your Halloween pic! You guys look great )
  19. That's great! With all these weddings they are booking I bet they'll have all kinds of new cool stuff soon
  20. Anything with cheese comforts me! I love making grilled cheese on sourdough bread....sooooo good. But you can't hold back - butter in the skillet and on both pieces of bread, cheese in the middle, and fry it until it's crispy and the cheese is all gooey. If I'm feeling frisky I'll add sliced tomatoes but usually I'm good with just the cheese...haha This is also a big comfort food of mine because it reminds me of my family. It takes no time to make so you can spend more time having wine with your blues while the comfort food cooks Aglio-Oglio 1 pound linguine (can substitute spaghetti, spagettini, fettucine, etc.) e.v.o.o. red pepper flakes (like 1/2 tsp. or more if you like it hot) 5-10 garlic cloves, sliced (10+ in my house) Italian parsley fresh grated parmesan or romano cheese 1.) Fill pot with water, a few dashes of salt, and a teaspoon or so of e.v.o.o. and bring to boil. Add pasta. 2.) While pasta cooks according to directions on the box, cover the bottom of a large pan with e.v.o.o. (a few turns of the pan) and add the garlic and red pepper over medium heat so the garlic softens but doesn't burn. If it starts cooking too fast, turn the heat down and let it hang out. 3.) Drain pasta and reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water. 4.) *do not rinse pasta* place it in the pan with the oil and toss it all together, adding the pasta water a little at a time for flavor and moisture 5.) Garnish with parsley and cheese My hubby is a carnivore but devours this meat-free dish every time )
