  3. What time is your wedding/reception? You can always do 4 hours at the Plantation and then go to the disco for free. It opens at 11 and one night we went at 11 and the wedding party stayed and partied with everyone else anyway. Just a thought.
  4. Some of my favorite funnies: Our flower girl & ring bearer who refused to walk barefoot after seeing sand crabs: Ring bearer who had to be carried to that spot and froze: BMs keeping an eye on the crabs during the ceremony: Me on tequila - grinding on the captain and trying to drive the boat home from the wedding:
  5. I also wanted to keep it natural, I did it half up half down and it worked fine.

  7. Beef and beers...I swear I learn so much here! That's a nice idea.
  8. Shelley I hope kitty gets better real soon. And I hope Petsmart responds to you today - like they don't have a department at corporate that can respond to issues like this....sheesh!
  9. I'm with you. In retrospect dress shopping was the worst part about wedding planning for me. I went alone and still hated it. I tried on 3 dresses at one shop and picked one of those the same day - the first and last day I looked for a dress. It fit the occasion, wasn't too formal or too casual, and it wasn't too expensive. That was it. I didn't get the feeling that this is the dress I have been waiting my whole life for, but then again I was never the type of girl to fantasize about my wedding as a kid. I loved my dress and am glad I opted to get a corset back wedding dress rather than the white sundress I swore I would wear. But I didn't put a lot of stock into trying on dress after dress until I felt like I thought I was supposed to feel. Go with your instincts and it will work out. BTW, if you call Nordstrom's they'll tell you which locations have the bridal salon in store, but beware - Nordie's salespeople like to get in the fitting room with you too...lol
  10. Dear Kelly's dad, Happy Birthday! Kelly and family miss you lots. Please send them comfort and let Kelly know that you are proud of her and she is stronger than she knows. Let her know it is okay that she didn't make it in the gates, you aren't there anyway, you are where she is. Dear Kelly, Hang in there sweetie. Maria said it best, you are keeping your father alive every day. Cry when you want to and talk to him because he can hear you. I hope things get easier as time passes. It's okay to be mad at God, the good thing is if you feel like not being mad anymore there is no harm done. As always, I wish health to your babies and peace in your heart ~Jamy
  11. Ugggh Tami that is quite annoying! The money is a factor but even if it wasn't, it's supposed to be a party for YOU to be honored by YOUR family/friends. That's what bothers me the most in these situations. You want to look around and see people that have supported you, not strangers who know someone who knows you. I'm glad Tom is with you on this issue but what a PITA that you even have to address it and put yourselves in any position that might offend FMIL. Let us know how it turns out!
  12. Aww, I love good men. And you, Reggie, are a good man. May you and Heidi receive all the things you long for and have a marriage as fulfilling as your engagement. You both deserve happiness beyond your wildest dreams. Cheers! ~Jamy
  13. So cute! I'm addicted to Overstock, love that place!
  14. I went to the disco often and from what I recall there are bar stools around the perimeter of the disco and around the bar. For 50 people you should be okay if bar stools will do. IMO if you want it more spread out and relaxed you should check into Plantation and see if the DJ can go there. This is the only pic I can find, it's a little small and dark but that's why we liked it...lol. This was taken sitting at the bar facing the dance floor:
  15. Maria those look great! You are quite the artist. I have trouble writing happy brithday on cake with the tube icing...lol
  16. I had a shower because my BMs and mom insisted. It was really very nice, but I am so with you Morgan - I dreaded having to open gifts in front of everyone. Again, the people throwing it insisted so I went with the flow. But I felt odd, especially because the guests were like "Hold it up so we can see" when I opened things. It was all too self-centered for me, what are you supposed to say "Ooh I got a blender, Oooh look at my china"...just not my thing. The stag and doe sounds really cool but I know for a fact I would get a lot of "who do they think they are" comments. But again, if it's common where you are then it wouldn't be as offensive.
  17. I first heard of it here but I also thought it was called a Jack and Jill? As far as it being appropriate I think other Canadian brides here have done it. Where I'm from people wouldn't go for it but it seems like a standard thing in Canada so I don't see why not.
  18. I can only recall one beach bar and I think it's below Mammee Bay. It is mainly sand, there is a small area that is slightly elevated, covered, and paved or tiled. There were a few tables there. If they took the tables out that could be a dance floor oy you could dance on the sand. Maybe they could set up tables and chairs on the beach? Normally there are loungers there. These are the best pics I have to kind of show where it is. Sorry they are so big! The bar is down this ramp and to the right, kind of to the right of where the trash can is. Hubby didn't like this pic of himself and made me take him out, the white part in the foreground is him..lol That is the left side of the bar. The bar was behind us here
  19. Wow I really like her work!! It has my kind of feel to it....lol Thanks for sharing. I'll keep her bookmarked )
