  4. We did not open the presents at our AHR, but there was a table for gifts with a basket for cards as well.
  5. Yes, Happy Hannukah to all! I love this time of year!!
  6. I forgot about that site! I used to bid on vacations there years ago and kept losing so I just did it the old fashioned way...lol Good luck, I hope you get a deal!
  7. I know! I took this Psych. of Marriage class in college and had to write a paper on cohabitation. Most of the literature said what you heard on the news, but I was able to find a few journal articles to support our theory. Also, older generations tended to wait for marriage and some of them must have had troubles adjusting, but I bet a lot of them were of the belief that you stick marriages out, happy or not. The divorce rate was much lower then. That's my amateur assessment for the day...lol
  8. Paula you are so funny....I'm glad I'm not alone in my cassette tape collecting. And Carrie keep at it, get those last two rooms done! The donations were picked up yesterday so that stuff is gone. I managed to get rid of two boxes worth of things I really don't need.....I am progressing!
  9. Seems like we are pretty much in agreement about living together before marriage. "They" like to say it doesn't result in marriage but here we are, a bunch of married and soon-to-be married people...lol Can you imagine marrying someone to find out you can't stand living with them?
  10. Creative Montage did ours too...I was really pleased with their customer service as well as the outcome.
  11. Quote: Originally Posted by brigopens I'm the groom, but that's OK. Common mistake. :-) My new wife is pretty hot though, right Glad you enjoyed them... HA!!!!! Um, yeah I knew that! Well yes, your wife is damn hot, and you are a handsome groom *blushing* )
  12. I sympathize....my hubby does not snore (thank goodness) but my father does, and when I lived at home I could hear him snore from my room with both doors closed. He has sleep apnea and was given a sleep mask of some sort but doesn't like to wear it...how rude is that? It is not pleasant. Never heard of the spray but I say try anything he is willing to. Good luck ladies!
  13. Yeah, I know it isn't brain science but not having to make the calls and write the letters may get it into motion. I spent almost $30 today on lotions....spending $30 on something that is useful may prevent me from posting a thread in 6 months about how I need to change my name! Who knows, I may just do it myself but appointment or not the DMV is hell (anyone watch that show Reaper? LOL) But I have to go eventually, right? If I ever become Mrs. Jones, on my own or with paid help, I'll let you guys know )
  14. Aww Carly I bet it's just the holiday postal rush. If it is a package that is too large to fit in the mailbox my manager gets it and leaves a note saying I have a package. I'll check with her too and see if she forgot to tell me. No worries, it will get here )
  15. I don't think that's too long. There are a lot of stairs and you'll find that if you walk at a slow-ish, wedding pace that should be just about right. Our intro music was almost 6 minutes in length, and this was for the flower girl/ring bearer, MOH, 3 couples, and myself. I loved the song from start to finish so opted to play the one song and hoped it would make it to the end. Turns out it was the perfect length. Hope that helps
  16. I've been busy these days and the name change has been on the back burner, but I want to get it done! Right now I think it's worth $30 to not do the legwork myself....anyone used their name change service before? https://www.missnowmrs.com/Default.aspx
  17. Ours was really informal. We had a 3rd ceremony at a chapel and the AHR followed. There was just music, food, and drinks. No special events....hopefully someone else here can help!
  18. We had no assigned seating and 35 guests. I briefly considered it, but if I was going to seat the wedding party close to me I would have to seat their guests with them....that means someone I don't know would be sitting close to me and family would be further off. No big deal, but I didn't want to make that call. We had one long table and one smaller one off to the side and there was no scramble, everyone was very civil and left the seats closest to us for parents/siblings/etc. It worked quite well and with a group that small we were able to see everyone down to the end of the table. Plus the party really starts after dinner so I wouldn't worry too much about it )
  19. Nice review! I'm guessing the bride is a friend of yours and you were a guest? That place sounds huge! I wouldn't like the onlookers but I would think that happens at many resort weddings, although they are probably not so close...lol Overall it sounds like it was a success. Thanks for sharing )
  20. You'll find what you need here. Small world, I'm from Oakland too and many guests flew from Oakland to our wedding in Puerto Vallarta. Vacation packages are very reasonable and IMO more importantly the flight is short. Happy planning and let us know if we can help )
  21. Paula I'm sorry I missed this before...they look awesome! Love the colors and style of the whole thing. I would be excited to get that in the mail! Nice photostamp too. You're almost there!!!!!!!
