  1. Cool! I remember Tushima had really good food. I love The Plantation, it was my favorite restaurant there for looks. Thanks for sharing )

  3. Our reasons were purely superficial - our resort required proof of marriage to get the honeymoon amenities so we married civilly before the "real" wedding in Mexico. Good thing we did because they weren't bluffing - when we got to Dreams they wouldn't even set up the amenities until they saw the license...seriously! No biggie without amenities, but never again in life could we be the honeymooning couple so we wanted them all. We chose standard vows at court and saved the personal ones for Mexico. We grabbed my brother and a friend, dressed regular, took a few shots, and got married...lol After we went out for beer and Mexican food. BTW we had a 3rd wedding (church) and to us Mexico still feels like the day it was sealed. The court wedding was special and meaningful, but IMO nothing will detract from the magic that is your DW. Before or after makes no difference in how you feel from my experience.
  4. I hear you, if it's not important to you don't waste the money. You could always get plain ones and jazz them up with stamps like you said. Ebay probably will save you money, I found these too: http://http://www.save-on-crafts.com/wedinbrnotmo.html http://http://www.orientaltrading.co...=PartySupplies http://http://www.homemade-free-uniq...vitations.com/ http://http://www.formal-invitations.com/ http://http://www.paperandmore.com/c...FRuhFQod9Hac7w http://http://www.discountcardstock.com/index.html
  5. Change is the name of the game girl! Here I go with the numerology again but you know me...2007 (generally speaking) signifies completion/release and 2008 is like genesis/coming anew. You're right on time my friend, and Lord knows you need to get away from your troll boss and the negativity she breeds. So happy for you!!!
  6. We knew we wanted a small wedding because we wanted it to be as intimate as possible. Seriously we were shooting for 15 and got 35...go figure. If we wanted 50 we probably would have had 15...lol Odds are everyone you invite won't go. It sounds great until the money is due or they need to schedule time off work/school, that's when some people get real and drop off. BUT they could always call your bluff and come, so if you're prepared for that and you don't mind, why not?
  7. IMHO showers kinda suck and I'm generally opposed to them so you aren't alone. Just because it's tradition doesn't mean squat. I didn't want one but wasn't adament about it. One was thrown and I showed up...lol Opening presents in front of a crowd and doing the "Ooh look what I got" thing is way to show-boaty for me. I did not want to do it at all and am actually embarassed to say I caved and did it. I refused to hold them up though. I opened them, smiled, said "thanks Kathy" and passed the gifts to my cousin sitting next to me. She did the showing off for me while I hurried to open the next one and get the damn thing over with...it just makes me itch to do that stuff. Thank God my BMs had the foresight to serve margaritas or I would have been a bitch from hell! Most people really just want to see you open their gift and look greatful, they could care less about other people's gifts. They'll do a lot of talking and not paying attention until theirs comes up...lol Anyways - Don't do it...it clearly is against your wishes. If it's all about you why can't people honor your wishes? They mean well but I wonder if the people throwing them do it for them as much as you...hmmmm
  8. Ours were from White Aisle. Impeccable service and great designs/quality. I was overly pleased: The White Aisle : Unique Wedding Favors and Invitations
  9. Awww that's so sweet! Love Pismo Beach, it's such a fun little beach town. Were you, by chance, at the SeaVenture Resort? Maybe they are a dime a dozen there but we stayed oceanfront with a jacuzzi on the balcony at the SeaVenture. Anyways, congrats!
  10. Yep, wata! So funny. I also didn't notice other brands. It's purified so I'm sure the baby can drink it. If she's particular though she may opt to bring her own but it seems like a pita to lug to JA and the water tasted fine to me. Pic of the Wata:

MOH was only on a boat once before and got sick so she was on edge for our boat. She was nervous the whole cab ride to the marina. She took the dramamine, but still got sick. Later we found out she snuck 2 more so she took 3 pills for the 1 hr boat ride!! She basically overdosed and I think that's why she threw up....she also was falling asleep. Duh So tell your guests to take drugs according to the label....except the whole avoiding alcohol thing, you gotta drink! LOL Our other sick people refused dramamine. BUT, the good thing about seasickness - if it happens - is you feel better as soon as you step on terra firma.....hopefully yours will be a smooth ride!
  12. Very interesting Maria. I'll bookmark that website too....thanks Melissa, I forgot all about that!

That's what I'm thinking....and the few occasions my mom pulled hers out I had to walk around the table on eggshells as I was reminded how important it was. I'm too kick back for that...anything that can't be replaced easily bothers me and then it isn't fun anymore, it's nervewrecking It seems that china is for other people - like "I'm having so and so over, get out the china." I know some people like it themselves too, and I love a pretty table but I also love Le Creuset and I've been eyeing this french oven that makes my heart smile...lol It's $260 but if I returned the china it would be free. That's a lot for one pot but I would use it often and love to cook. I can eat off of almost anything but I can't cook in just anything. That's my fetish. Oh, and Galit how cool that we picked the same pattern...it really is beautiful. Maybe I'll keep the 2 sets for romantic dinners between DH and I? OK I'm driving myself crazy now
  14. Lots of mixed opinions here, thanks everyone! My mother has a beautiful white set with a platinum band (20 settings) that I stand to inherit...also my grandmother's china will be passed onto me. So at some point I'll have China coming out of my ears...lol I'm not into China but I did pick the style for the registry and I really like the style. Just wondering if I like it enough to collect it? And if I'll be doing it because of tradition rather than actually wanting it? Hmmmm....
  15. I know you're a mom because you sound like mine...LOL And moms generally know best so maybe you guys are on to something! To DH a plate is a plate and we got 12 settings of dishes/bowls/etc. for everyday use so he's like, why do we need more? And I'm scared I'll break it all just because it is nice, haha. But you make a good point....
  16. Okay I voted to imrove the pimp slap and wear it on the right because it was so darn funny....rofl! I don't know...Will bought his when we got to Mexico and kept it in his luggage in a sock or something...lol I would probably say to put it somewhere safe and out of sight at home. Wouldn't want to trust a buddy to keep it secure.
  17. We registered for China because my mom said to....haha We received two sets. To make it useful I would think I need at least 4 sets, preferably 6-8. So would you keep the 2 for you and DH? Or buy more settings (@$140 each)? Wait the traditional year to see if you get more? Or exchange them for something else you want? They are beautiful but I wouldn't use them regularly: WeddingChannel.com - Vera Wang "Lace" 5-Piece Place Setting -
  18. It does sound like a great service and very convenient. I do online banking for all my accounts but they are on different sites, so I figure the odds of everything getting hacked and stolen is very slim. The odds are probably slim anywhere but things happen, and if all my info was in one place and became compromised I would freak. I had a Monster account and they notified me that our information (resume/contact/etc.) had been basically stolen. They have a security policy too and gave us a big "we're sorry and working to assure it doesn't happen again" but meanwhile my personal stuff was out there...and it wasn't money related but it still worried me....money related info would enrage me. I just don't know if it's for me, but the idea is great in theory.

I have a recommendation that's right in town but I'm very partial since we had our welcome diner there...lol It's called Barcelona Tapas. Gorgeous views of the city, food and sangria are out of this world, and the owner (who is from Chicago) makes planning a breeze. Food is served family style so it's a great set-up for a meet and greet dinner. There are a few open-air levels, our dinner was on the 3rd floor. It was among the most memorable times guests had in PV. I have pics from my WD if you are interested. P.S., they also own Agave Grill in PV that I hear is excellent. 20. Happy Wedding Day! Enjoy your Tulum wedding and don't forget to come back and tell us all about it!
  21. Even though it's not "the one" it still counts so make sure to celebrate afterwords. Have fun and congratulations!!
  22. A wedding in Paris sounds dreamy...and what a cool job you have!!
  23. Oops if I read this earlier I would have known you were going to LC..lol I was at the Westin (Nikki Beach) for my bach. party but I didn't go in the rooms. The beach isn't great there but the place is pretty...let us know what you think. I've heard good things about Le Kliff too..the view is great! If you can squeeze it in go to Barcelona Tapas for dinner. You won't be disappointed. Oh, and all I know to help ears on the plane is chewing gum....hope you have a comfortable trip and feel better soon. Have fun!!!!!!!!
