Jilly I'm not 100% with the taste of soy milk either, I think it reminds me of formula or something...but perhaps I've never tried the right kind. Quote: Cow's milk is suited to the nutritional needs of calves, who, unlike human babies, will double their weight in 47 days, grow four stomachs, and weigh 1,100-1,200 pounds within two years. It is not natural for humans to drink cow's milk. No other species drinks milk beyond infancy, and no other species drinks the milk of another species. Totally! Heidi that was in the book I read and that's why I stopped. Plus, milk has always given me cold-like symptoms. Like after a bowl of cereal I'll get phlegm (sp?) and a little congested feeling. But not with cheese, which is weird and I know it comes from the same stuff, but again I'm a cheese freak and that won't change. Will and I talk about this because I don't want to give our future kids cow's milk, it's my milk then no other mammal's...haha He could care less either way, and thinks I'm a little hippie anyways, but soy vs. rice is something I really need to investigate further.

I didn't have that time gap, but I wore my wedding dress up until the first dance. After that I changed into a much needed lightweight white sundress number. You could always put it back on for dinner/pics then change again. There are few rules for a DW so definitely do what you want...but I know how moms are with the "you should" statements...lol

Mmmm Kash that sounds great! And if Dan liked it I bet I can get Will to try....thanks!

I was raised on cow's milk (lol that sounds funny!). I've never enjoyed drinking a glass of milk, but used it in cereal and for cooking. In recent years cow's milk has disgusted me. It doesn't help that I read a book that spoke of the evils of drinking milk from cows, but I refuse to give up cheese of any kind and I eat things made with it. I just don't enjoy it with cereal anymore. Soy milk has never really done it for me, but I've started getting into rice milk. It kind of tastes like horchata so I like it. I've not really looked into the research on rice vs. soy but I think I will. What are your preferences and why?

Tammy I also couldn't watch your link either because that song has also been stuck in my head for days!! I wasn't a bad song (maybe not the best singer) but I'm still trying to get it out of my head! Wasn't it hilarious that they were singing it with him and Paula started dancing...lol

Night Before and Day of the Wedding
starchild replied to jfwolfe72's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We spent the night together (actually we were up talking and finishing favors half the night...lol). That morning I left with my BMs on the boat to the wedding site and didn't see him until the ceremony. It was about 11 hours without him and I missed him soooo much We already lived together too so the night before I would have gone crazy without him! -
Makeup for groom??
starchild replied to Coffee Addict's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Maybe they were just really good looking men naturally? LOL I don't know, we live in SoCal and my groom would never wear it, like ever, ever. But I could see someone in the business like a Ryan Seacrest type who normally wears makeup thinking they needed it for their wedding. Maybe... -
Searching the Forum
starchild replied to LCBride2007's topic in Bugs, issues or "how to" navigate forum questions.
Christine, TammyB, and Ann - those were great explanations of the point system. I just figured they were there so only active members (who posted enough to get points) could open documents and such. But I never thought about, or would have understood, the server thing but it makes total sense to me now. Stephanie, great point. The more specific, the better. I'll work on that too. Like instead of "help me" maybe Help me - my guest list is too big"...or something like that so it is more searchable. -

Gosh I lost track of all time that day, but I think the ceremony started around 6/6:15? Right after the ceremony we took group shots to get them done, then we took our couples shots. Then we joined the end of the cocktail reception and it was still light. I remember asking Nicole this question in advance and her saying the sun sets around 8pm in June. The pics I have go from light to night really fast, so I guess the sun set sometime during dinner? Our dinner pics are pretty dark. These were taken after we took our photos, just before dinner. You can see how light it still is:

Holy shit Tami...I'm literally salivating. Do you know how good that sounds? You Southerners sure know how to eat, before I die I must find the waffle house and get some of that!

Funny- A Cake In The Image Of Yourself
starchild replied to BarefootBride's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Oh hell no! I though her pic was on the cake, but that's a replica of her! Can you imagine? My guests would have made fun of me for years! LOL Talented baker though! -
Well I work weird hours but when I worked normal hours, breakfast was usually toast and tea, maybe some scrambled eggs or egg whites if I was feeling spiffy. Eating a big breakfast makes me sleepy again....although God bless that waffle house you mentioned, I don't know what scattered, smothered, and covered hash browns are but I need them! Mmmmmmmm

I was impressed with myself that I've been to 5 of them, not bad. Sunset Mag. is geared toward the West so that's why they are all out this way (or in Mexico).

For cake: Butter (to grease pan) 2 cups cake flour, plus more for dusting 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 6 large eggs, separated 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup whole milk 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract For milk soak: 1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk 1 can (12 oz.) evaporated milk 1 1/2 cups half-and-half 3/4 tsp. pure vanilla extract For topping: 2 cups heavy cream 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract To make cake: Position rack in center of oven and preheat to 350 F. Grease with butter and lightly flour bottom and sides of a 9x13 inch baking pan. In bowl, sift together 2 cups flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon; whisk to combine and set aside. In large bowl, beat egg whites at medium-low speed with electric mixer until foamy, gradually increasing to high speed and beating until soft peaks form, about 2 minutes; set aside. In another large bowl, mix egg yolks and sugar on low speed until well blended. In a small bowl, stir together milk and vanilla. With mixer on low speed, add dry ingredients to sugar mixture in three parts, alternating with milk mixture; mix until smooth. With rubber spatula, gently fold egg whites into mixture. Pour batter into pan and bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 15 minutes. To make milk soak: In mixing bowl, whisk together all ingredients until well blended. Using toothpick, prick deep holes in cooled cake at 1-inch intervals. Pour soak mixture slowly and evenly over cake, allowing it to penetrate thoroughly. Cover cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight for best results. To make topping: Shortly before serving, chill bowl in freezer about 15 minutes. Once cold, add heavy cream and beat on low speed about 1 minute. Add sugar and vanilla, and gradually increase speed to high and mix until thick and stiff peaks form, about 3 minutes. Spread topping over cake and chill. To serve: Cut cake into squares, topping with fresh fruit if desired. Makes 12-16 servings. (recipe from Latina Magazine)

Makeup for groom??
starchild replied to Coffee Addict's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Me neither. I gave mine a pack of oil-blotting rice papers so he could wipe the sweat/shine away on the wedding day. I had to convince him it wasn't makeup before he would use them..lol -

Can you not contact Terra Noble directly and set it up without the intervention of a coordinator? I would feel most comfortable doing it that way. Also, when I was shopping WD options Nicole was very helpful. Perhaps she can assist you in finding who Terra Noble's contact person is if you can't find that online.
