  1. I forget the name of the spot, but another ROR bride here hosted her reception offsite and it was really nice. Make sure to search the Jamaica section to find the details.

LOL When you don't get regular rain you don't know how to act when you get some. Some people drive really fast and dangerously, and some people drive really slow and dangerously. I feel your pain, I was raised in the rain so it irks me to no end!
  3. $1800 for video? Maybe they are just taking advantage of the wedding/foreigner thing or something. That is silly. I would check with some other vendors and I bet you can beat that by a lot. Good luck )
  4. Yay Barbados! I love when people come here with new places, I don't believe we have other Barbados brides....could be wrong? Anyhow, we can still help with lots of stuff. Happy planning )

We are taking the whole wedding party over for some nice relaxation time. We aren't traditional so we don't care about seeing each other the whole day prior to the ceremony. We just want to enjoy LC! I went with an entourage of BMs so they helped carry things and the boat crew took them from us as soon as we got on, and they carried our stuff off the boat too. So it's no biggie. I enjoyed the girls day at LC I but kind of wish DH had gone over early with us. He wanted to be on the boat with the guests, but how fun would it have been to spend the day swimming and playing with him before parting ways to get ready? Not to mention I missed the hell out of him!! But it was still a great day without him. I say bring him if you want...it's great to be able to explore and enjoy LC together, you don't get to do that at your wedding. If it weren't for the site visit we wouldn't have been able to chill there together this time around.
  6. Oh that's right, you're in Camarillo....well you definitely know what I'm talking about - plus the mud slide factor! Yikes! Nic I just think people born and raised here don't know about weather, it's not their fault, but I took my driving test in the rain, you know? Here are some news pics from this morning of what I mean about the streets here. The ends of the street aren't flooded, but the middle is:
  7. Welcome Clifford! I'm from the Bay Area orginally and if I didn't have a DW I would have married there, you're right there are so many beutiful places to marry! Enjoy the forum )
  8. Definitely! I would suggest to not overthink them too much. Just write what comes to mind when you think about him. DH wrote his on the flight to PV while I was asleep, and I wrote mine when I was at peace a few hours before the ceremony and they were great! (it doesn't take long to write the truth ) Some parts referenced inside things that people didn't really get, but they were special between us two. I closed my eyes and thought about the wonderful person he is and how our love has grown all these years and went with it. There was even a funny line here and there in both of ours..lol
  9. I'm sure the rain + freezing temps is no fun I love thunder too but our dog hates it. If I can catch it in time I'll take a pic with my cell of a man running...it is funny!

  11. I love the rain and it rarely rains here. We've been getting much needed rain all week - YES!! But - the city of L.A. was not designed for rain. There are no gutters here. You know the drains adjacent to sidewalks that most cities have? Don't have those. In 10 years of living here I've seen a handful. What we have is a dip in certain intersections. So when it rains heavily the intersections with dips become full-on ponds. The streets become hydroplane central. People still think they can drive 50 in a 25 and stop on a dime. I live 1.5 miles from work and on my way home I saw 2 people spin out, one went up onto the curb and almost hit a pedestrian. At least I can find joy in watching grown men running to their cars when there is a slight drizzle....sissies! So in the midst of "storm watch 2008" I sit here, in a flooded neighborhood, and wonder if the city planners ever considered the crazy idea that we may get more than 1 inch of rain every few years?
  12. Welcome...the ROR is beautiful! Make sure to check out the Jamaica section as there are tons of threads and tips on ROR weddings )
  13. I think that is a helpful review and the person who wrote it was very honest and had the right attitude about things. Sadly, that stuff happens all over the place, but I wouldn't let it ruin my wedding and I'm glad she didn't. Thanls for sharing, it's a good reminder that the hotel safes are not safe!
  14. So pretty! Ana y Jose is on our list of vacation spots, I didn't realize she was marrying there. How cool!!
  15. Yum! In L.A. our restaurants are required to post their latest health inspection grade, A-C (those lower than that are closed but sometimes open up a few days later). I don't eat at a place with a huge C in the window because they are a few points away from closure, and really try only to eat at A's. I check the website to see what's been closed and why so I know where to stay away from...http://ph.lacounty.gov/phcommon/publ...e/restall1.cfm
  16. Claire I do understand what you are saying. There is a lot of information out there. Sometimes it comes out that something is wrong with the latest food because of science/research/evidence, not just because of a financial motive. Like with the soy thing, I don't think a new gimmick is being pushed so much as people who research for a living are saying "look what I found out" and "we're putting it out there so you can't say we didn't tell you". After all, there was a day when cigarettes had no warnings, people used to paint their kid's bedrooms with led paint, etc. Someone who researched for a living found out there were risks and that's how we know. People are free to smoke in led rooms if they want, but some people may decide the risk isn't for them. I guess you go with science if it makes sense to you, or you go with what your family raised you to do because in 1925 grandma did it, and so on. I agree with the common sense factor, which is why I am against drinking cow's milk whether it is skim or full fat. My family drinks it and more power to them, but common sense (to me) says I'm not a baby cow so why would I drink like one? But sometimes there is little in common about our senses, you know? To each their own
  17. Here's another one: Studies About Effects of Soy on Human Health
  18. Gretchen I'm still trying to sort out the rice vs. soy thing too....I'm leaning away from soy though since I've never liked it, and I haven't read anything bad about rice milk yet but the soy bashing is out there..lol Heidi - I haven't evaluated these sources thoroughly enough, but they seem to be in line with what I've read in health books: The Truth about Soy and the Soy Industry Scientists versus the soy industry Studies About Effects of Soy on Human Health Welcome to Soy Online Service Beware of the toxicity of soy products
  19. Do you like them spicy? My cousin covers wings in a bottle of the green tabasco and bakes them. They are tasty but they do have a bite! That's all I know about wings.

  21. Dress #2 all the way (the 1st pic)!!! It accentuates your impossibly tiny waste and killer curves. So pretty and beachy...Love it!! And how cute that you tried it on in your classroom!
