  1. Yay Lauren, so exciting!! We didn't exchange for pesos, U.S. dollars are taken everywhere I've been in PV. Plus, when you pay in dollars you usually get pesos back as change so you'll end up with them (be familiar with the exchange rate, street vendors will do a rough estimate so you may win or lose some change here or there, but it's pretty accurate). Dreams does exchange dollars to pesos, for free I believe. I wouldn't do it at the airport. As for how much...it's hard to remember honestly. I brought maybe $200 in cash, about $60 of that in ones. He thinks he brought a few hundred in cash, and at one point did go to the ATM to reload. Go to a bank if you hit the atm. There is one near the flea market with glass-enclosed ATMs and armed guards (why not be safe, you know?). Also many businesses accept credit cards but not everyone, cash is best IMO. We didn't spend much at all, because we didn't need to pay for food/drinks at Dreams (only tips). When we ate outside of Dreams it was at our WD and wedding, a few tacos and drinks here or there while shopping downtown. Taxi fare from Dreams to the malecon/downtown cost like $5 each way. Even with souveniers we spent very little because honestly, we didn't have the time! Have fun )

In general (for me) it seems the people that make the most sense to me never have a shot at winning. Dennis Kucinich had great ideas and didn't give me that icky feeling all over, but he too stood no chance from the gate. Kudos to them for running their campaigns anyway! To be quite frank, the war doesn't impact me directly - I realize that I am one of the few and lucky. So when you say to look at "all of the issues" - I might be, the issues that are important to me. Does that make sense? I have to look at what the issues are for me, and my life. I understand what you are saying, I think it's natural to gravitate towards what affects your daily life. Look at me, if people kept thinking along those lines my husband would be dead and I would be shunned by society for loving him. OMG I love Fabiolus!!! Their gnocchi quattro formaggi is divine! You must eat there if you'll be in the area. They have a cute patio that feels a world away from Sunset...one of my fave L.A. restaurants. You'll love Dodger stadium too. It's surrounded by mountains and palm trees...gorgeous and very L.A. Where is the band playing?
  5. Welcome to the forum! San Diego in September? Heavenly! Where in S.D. are you getting married?
  6. I say hair pins for the same reasons as the others. As for the veil, can you incorporate it some other way? It really is unique and festive looking. Are you having a flower girl that can wear it? Or even detaching the star design and using it somehow... maybe to place a votive/hurricane on at the guest book table? Or maybe hang the whole veil from the back of your dinner chair as decoration (like how some people have a "bride" sign?) It is a little dated, but still cool and would be nice to stick in there somewhere!
  7. A-ha, that makes sense. Hopefully you'll have just the right amount of guests so everyone can stay together, what fun! Oh, and nobody just happens to be on Molokai...if we showed up out of the blue we would be intentionally stalking you and you'd be within your rights to call the authorities...ROFL!!
  8. That stinks! Good girl for looking for a job immediately because the longer you wait, the more you get comfortable not working....happened to me once when I was laid off I hope you find something more awesome than your last job!
  9. Gorgeous place Alyssa! Did you need to have your guest list set before you chose the spot? I.E. what if more people want to come than they have rooms for, is it just the first to book get to stay there and the overflow has to stay somewhere else? (like if I show up where will I stay? haha j/k) Just curious how that works when the resort is small, I think it's awesome that you will have the whole place to yourselves, too cool!
  10. I'm copying my answer from the other thread...sorry I'm feeling lazy Dominoes!! Many guests thought they were too cool and played by the pool like everyday. They loved the portfolios I put in their bags. They were like 12 pages but guests were impressed and found them usefeul. It included a welcome letter, itinerary, maps of PV and where everyone was staying, history of PV, where to shop, where to sight-see for free, guided tour info, a page of tips for staying healthy, and emergency info (#'s to embassies, doctors, credit card companies, etc.) They used the monogrammed bags often too and loved them, some people brought them to the wedding too. Oh, oddly also cocoa butter bar soap was a hit. Sometimes people forget that hotel soap is really drying and don't pack their own.
  11. Awww I know you're bummed but it will work out. You have time to be more creative as well as give your guests time to plan/budget for the trip. BTW you mentioned classes, are you Catholic? If so, you may have to go outside of your parish but there are one day classes. (unless you want to take 6 months). The first church we contacted said 6 months, and our wedding was planned on kind of short notice too, so that wouldn't do. We contacted the diocese and they put us in touch with a church where we went on a Saturday from 9-5. It counts the same )
  12. haha, yeah he said it was a disease....too funny! Watch out guys, you don't want to come down with that on your wedding day
  13. Sorry, I know it's tough. And like everyone says, our weddings are only 100% important to us. It could be as Kelly says, maybe she doesn't realize what a big deal it is to you. Or (and I don't know your sister to say) but could there be the slightest bit of jealousy/resentment about your wedding? Weddings bring out crazy emotions in people, particularly people who are not married/in happy relationships. Maybe she is backing up because she is feeling weird about it? In any case, I understand the frustration because she is your sister. Good luck, at the very least your MOH rocks. Everything will work out )
  14. Cool info! Taking the ferry would be fun if time is not a factor. I would probably take the ferry over and fly back. Thanks for sharing, maybe we'll have another Molokai bride in the future!

I have no right to complain because it is ok with me Wait, I'm not following you and I think you misunderstand me - I didn't say not to vote or that I do not vote. I said this: So do I not vote because they are all bogus, do I try to find out who is less evil, or do I pick the lady or gentleman who's face and voice won't disgust me for the next 4-8 years? 17. Originally we wanted to honeymoon in Mexico and I was looking at both of these resorts too. I like that EDSS is smaller, and from pictures, I preferred the beach there. It seems EDR gets the popular vote for weddings - maybe because it is larger? My TA suggested EDSS over EDR, saying they both offer pretty much the same amenities, but EDSS would be more relaxing and private for our needs. She did suggest that the more swimmable beach would be at EDSS. Not sure if she's been there herself, but that's what she told me. If I had to choose one for my honeymoon it would be EDSS.
  18. Yeah Kash the female candidate is monumental and, if nothing else, should inspire the little ones. Glenda, I guess you won't be at the next Obama rally? LOL J/K IMHO they are all bad. Everyone that ever runs will be bad. It's the nature of the beast, nobody is as altruistic as they pretend to be. They are all players in a game and I know people who don't see it that way, but I do. You can't run a campaign based on the truth. What if current Pres. Bush said "I'm going to take us to war, devastate the economy, make enemies the world over....vote for me!". Who among us would vote for someone who didn't try to come across as the right person for the job? You cover up truths, doubletalk, and mudsling. This is nothing new. Everyone has a past, and a present, while trying to convince the masses that they are the future of American leadership. You can bet your bottom dollar none of the candidates truly care. They are merely students of the game and know that in order to win they must sway people. That's it. So hell yeah their speeches need to appeal to the voter, and the voter needs to feel like they "get" that candidate. How else will they get votes? I do not really like any of them. They all make me uncomfortable. So do I not vote because they are all bogus, do I try to find out who is less evil, or do I pick the lady or gentleman who's face and voice won't disgust me for the next 4-8 years? Peace be with whatever liar wins....the world ain't happy with us right now so commence to ass kissing

Their historical record of voting is what concerns me more than anything. Thanks for posting the links. Voting records are really a microscope on the candidates to see how they have practiced what they are preaching. And the refresher course is quite helpful to most of us, I'm sure )
