  2. I have friends from Haiti and they don't even brush their teeth with tap water when they go home. Haiti is not DR but it's the same small island, not sure how their filtration systems differ. Also, when we landed in Jamaica anyone who had been to DR in the preceding 6 months (and some other countries) were detained at the airport by immigration officials because of health concerns. Not to scare you, but IMO I would give yourself the best shot at staying healthy because it is a small burden compared to the alternative.

Nobody will notice, and you may even forget to critique the set-up yourself. Don't underestimate the part emotions will play that night. All of these things seem like big deals when you're sitting on your couch dreaming, but once you are actually there, marrying your true love, you could care less about the mundane details. You'll be so high on love that you couldn't care about the tables if you tried...well that's how I felt anyway. So if you can, let it go. If not, definitely don't rent them. You don't have too many tables and you can find cheap and pretty tableclothes everywhere )
  4. Yep, Jean-marcus is right. You can deposit money in anyone's account....it's withdrawing that gets tricky
  5. Sadly, sometimes it's just out of sight out of mind. Or maybe like Rachel said there is some jealousy? Some people see California as this magical land of paradise, especially L.A. Maybe the mere fact that you moved here turned them in to haters a long time ago, and now you're having this fabulous Jamaican wedding...who do you think you are? LOL When I moved to L.A. I lost ties with people I thought were friends, some of whom were just mad that I got out and they didn't...whatever. I do still have a group of close friends but a lot dropped off (and good riddance!). I don't know if that's the case with you but your story made me think of that. In these cases I can only say cling to your man. I wouldn't want to tell my friends to throw me a party either, if they don't do it on their own so be it. As much as it hurts they are teaching you a lot about themselves so don't miss the lesson. Good luck )
  6. You read my mind, I was thinking the same thing about where I would have cleaned them if I had them! I think Dreams PV had filtered tap water, but in Jamaica at ROR there are signs next to the sinks saying the water is not potable...I'm sure in DR it's the same. Asking the bartender is a good idea, just remember to tip

Um, yeah I tivo 90210 so let's just say I love that show It was so sad when she died, I totally cried too! And Donna was all drunk at prom and the class protested so she could graduate...lol Donna's mom was such a tightass, right? But then remember when the "gang" caught her cheating on her dad? So funny! 8. Welcome! You have enough time to plan a fabulous LC wedding! I married there last June and it was amazing. Check out our thread that Rachel posted above, and happy planning )
  9. I caught a piece of an episode of that show. I agree that she wasn't as spoiled/bratty as I expected but clueless is a good word...lol And yeah, I idolozed them. I really wanted to be Kelly or Brenda, but Donna (I mean Tori) was even tinier than them....and at like age 10 I totally thought I was fat. I look at pictures of me then and give me a break! I was a freakin kid and not obese like I thought then, thanks Tori...rofl!

Wanna hear something silly? When I was in like 5th or 6th grade I was living in nor.cal and my friends and I flew down to L.A. to visit my godmother. She knew where the Spelling mansion was and we begged her to take us. So she does, and she double parks in front. My girlfriend and I get out (we're like 10), go to the intercom at one of the many gates, and say "Is Tori home?" A voice answers "Security has been notified and are on their way, please leave the premises". We ran off screaming like the little girls we were!!! Soooo funny in retrospect, but we were really scared at the time
  11. Brandon was hot too. In fact, at one time or another I think I liked all the guys. Steve was cute, and even David Silver was hot once he got to like 11th grade and started to be "cool". But if I had to pick one it would be Dylan. He was a total troubled loner but I sure like him! His crazy times at the Bel-Age hotel, fighting with Jim Walsh, speeding off in his Porsche, doing Kelly while Brenda was in Paris....for some reason all of that made him more attractive! Haha! (I know way too much about this show!)
  12. I've never done it, but I'm wondering how much rentals would be? You may be able to buy some wholesale for less and not have to worry about damage or returning them. Maybe someone has firsthand experience.

How hot and badass was Dylan (well for a rich boy?) And remember when Emily Valentine went all psycho? Classic!
  15. I would never eat jarred tapeworms....I prefer mine fresh...lmao! That's great Stephanie, thanks for sharing )
  16. Love ya too!! Nothing like a little Zack & Slater to get you amped up! haha
  17. I don't know about you all, but this week Friday couldn't come soon enough for me!
  18. Welcome! Where in Conchas Chinas are you getting married? Congrats!
  19. Hi Julia, I'm Jamy...and I'm a little late (sorry!). I got married there last June a few days before Ann. YES get married at Las Caletas, you won't regret it and believe me when I say your guests will be amazed - and they won't know how little it cost you compared to what many resorts charge (and LC offers more than they can IMO). Anyhoo, I see you've met Ann, Rachel, and Yari. There are more of us and we all are in love with the place. Break your FI's thumbs if you have to (lol) but you probably won't have to. In a nutshell, the thing that makes LC unique is privacy. An outdoor wedding anywhere is subject to onlookers, and on a tropical beach you have the sunbathers and partying vacation goers. At LC you have yourselves, your guests, and the staff that is there to cater to you. That's it. Nobody can get in the way of your intimate event. And then there is the party boat coming and going... I could write a book but check out the LC thread again and please feel free to post there and ask any questions you have. Congrats on your engagement )

Also, when we travel we notify the bank/cc people where we may be using the card(s) and the approx. dates. My SIL used hers in Jamaica then tried to use it a few days later in Barbados and it was frozen for fraud...it was a preventative service, but she had to call from the Caribbean and sort it all out to get access to her money...so calling ahead doesn't hurt!
