That stinks Heidi but don't give up hope, I hear these things can take forever. I would just start looking for a cute place to rent so that you have some space and a fresh start as newleyweds. So this will be your first place together? Awwwwwwww...have fun! When you do buy a house you may look back and appreciate having lived somewhere else (or a few places even) before you settled down in one spot

I'm thinking a little something called hurricane season. A major catastrophe doesn't always happen, but when planning an important event like a wedding or big vacation the potential for a storm can be a deterrent and not worth the risk. Do you not get many guests at your villa during that time of year?

Do I need a Ceremony Program?
starchild replied to BarefootBride's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I'm a dork, I keep programs for weddings and funerals in an album. I don't look at them often but when I come across them it's a little flashback -

At home civil ceremony
starchild replied to Kristy!'s topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We did it before we went to Mexico because for us 1.) we didn't want to run around getting things done when we got to Mexico and 2.) we wanted the honeymoon amenities at both resorts we stayed at and they wouldn't offer them without a marriage license (Dreams wanted a copy before they would schedule anything!) It didn't take away from the "real" wedding for us. -

Our favorite Hawaiian spot here makes yummy spam and eggs...mmm It really isn't that bad, not sure what all is in it though. Totally popular in Hawaii, spam burgers, spam musubi, they have many ways to eat spam! And that law suit is crazy! You guys are great detectives...lol

As far as I know there is only one all inclusive resort in all of Hawaii, and that is on the Big Island. Talk to a TA to be certain and to see about the hut-type accomodations. I'm honestly not sure, good luck!

For us that was most likely the first and last time all these people would be assembled together on vacation too. And the reviews are in, they all said it was the best! Just being together so far from home is special and there are many ways to do it.

Look, I get it - if there is no budget (or no desire to the spend money) for a formal reception I don't think it's awful. I was responding to the let people do what they want after the wedding statement. You can spend no money at an AI and tell people the reception will follow at x spot. That's fine. You are giving guests a place to be to celebrate your recent wedding and the reason they are there in the first place. I just think saying "if you want to do this go here, they have this over there" etc. breaks apart the group and they can go their own way every other day of the trip. My guests wouldn't want to but if that's not you (or your crowd) then don't do it. Your posts shouldn't be deleted and try not to worry about other people's spending, just your own

I am not making oot bags, etc, since we cannot afford it, however, our guests are attending our wedding and I want them to have a great time. I agree with you Amy. As someone already married I'm not speaking in hypotheticals and I can assure you that our group appreciated the time of fellowship. We even had an unplanned afterparty for after the reception, because people still wanted to party. Everyone's guests aren't as outgoing so I guess the key is knowing your crowd. And there was no spending out of guilt for us, we wanted to spend time with people who took time off of work and saved $$ to be there with us. It's not guilt when you want to do it. We came back to no bills, no debt, as everything was planned out and prepaid in advance. But we took full advantage of the opportunity to celebrate with our loved ones and they wouldn't have taken the option to do their own thing anyway. They were in PV for us, it's not like we ran into them coincidentally.

But, they might prefer to go to the karaoke bar, the show, to bed, or something else. If there is a hot tub at the hotel that is open at night, I could see us doing that too. My mom loves hot tubs. I'm not sure what we'll do because I have not stayed at this hotel. I plan on talking to some people who have & see what they suggest. We will have a few nights before the wedding to figure it out too. I understand why it wouldn't be great to travel 4 hours to vegas for a 15 minute ceremony. But, the mexico trip isn't just the one day thing. There will be so much more going on that weekend & lots of time to spend together. Well the Vegas thing was a multi-day vacation too but that's neither here nor there, I see what you're saying. I *think* you want to give your guests the option to do what they want since it's their vacation too. That's the reason I didn't plan a activities for our guests every day they were there, so I get it. I do think that can get carried away. Our guests were held captive at LC so there were no options other than party with us LOL I'm just thinking your guests may want to spend that time with you after dinner. I know I wouldn't go that far for a wedding only to say "Dinner was great, I'd rather go sing karaoke (or whatever) than hang with you, see ya". But that's me and we're all different which is why there is so much to learn here. (that's my cheesy unity statement ) I'm sure whatever you do (or don't do) fun will be had by all

Carol's Daughter Bath and Fragrance Collections
starchild replied to foxytv's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Yay! Carol's Daugher is the shit, and I don't use that term lightly...haha The fragrances are so yummy and they are long lasting. I'm jealous you got the whole basket That's awesome! Love the almond cookie too, and the ocean...and groove...well pretty much all of them are fabulous. Once you start experimenting try the black vanilla leave in conditioner spray...mmmmm And the Love Butter with the cinnamon stick, just so cute and it really works well. Now I want to go shopping -

I'm surprising myself by agreeing with this line of thinking. You know I'm not one for tradition or doing things to impress/please others so this is weird for me..lol I went to a wedding in Vegas last year, about 30 people. They sent out formal invitations and everything. After the ceremony was over, the bride says to meet at the Paris buffet. Okay, fine. We get there and the line is super long, we go to the door to say we are with the wedding party and they're like "What?"...we assumed there was a reservation/set-up/something. Nada. Inside we see the couple & their families eating and after standing in line for 25 minutes, we left. It sucked that we spent 4 hours to get to the wedding and the 15 minute ceremony was it. We actually gave the wedding gift to her brother who passed us in line to use the restroom, saying bring this to Jen and tell her sorry we couldn't get in. I thought it sucked that they didn't at least make reservations somewhere we could all be together, we didn't mind having to pay for ourselves but it was the fact that they pumped up coming to their DW then didn't think past the ceremony. Of course nobody will think it wasn't worth the trip unless you know some evil-ass people, but I think you may underestimate your guests. They are on vacation for starters, so for some people bedtime/routine goes out the window. After dinner is when the party starts imo, and don't be surprised if the people you are expecting to be in bed by 8pm want to hang out. We had a 68 year old guest attend our reception afterparty that didn't start until 1am. You don't need to frivolously spend money and get fancy centerpieces and all, but having a set place/time to be after dinner may be appreciated by more guests than you realize.

Free excursions/things to do in Cabo
starchild replied to Leia78's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
No, but I did this for my guests in PV where there is good stuff to see for free. Does Cabo have a malecon/boardwalk? Any natural scenery where they could do a self-guided hike or tour? A place where street performers gather? Look for free museums and exhibits that may be there during your wedding week too. Good luck
