  1. They still have weddings at Paradisus Palma REal. I have been exchanging e-mails with the wedding coordinator at Paradisus Palma REal. She is GREAT at replying to e-mails. It is almost like a live chat with the exchange of e-mails we were having. Anyone interested in palma Real PM me!
  2. Our family stayed here in 2006. A very beautiful resort with a beautiful chapel in its grounds. Would be an ideal area for a wedding. Wailea beach is not white sands though and I expected more like Carribean but I believe this is Pacific so not that impressed. It is calm, no seaweed, no rocks but I prefer the turquoise waters of the Carribean. The whole area is very nice since it is next to Four Seasons etc. I love walking in the mornings in the walkway that connects all hotels. Don't do the Road to Hana trip--bunch of hype! We felt we wasted a whole day on that trip!
  3. Anny, Our WC will only charge 20% of everything she coordinates (vendors such as DJ, mariachi, fireworks, firedancers). Her name is Tiffany Lanier from SunHorse WEddings. She comes highly recommended but she works mainly from Isla Mujeres. She is great. Our wedding is in Cancun but she agreed to help me get other vendors since I don't really know the good vendors in Cancun. The hotel is charging me a lot for DJ, firedancers, mariachi so I am using Tiffany Lanier to get me these vendors.
  4. Hi Jill, Hope you are well. I think I may be using a DJ. But we are really hoping for a live band. OUr wedding may be at a non-all inclusive. We found a wedding coordinator whose price for live band is not so far from DJ. But we're still undecided. We moved wedding to FEb 2008 so we have time.
  5. Ladies, a great photographer who does beautiful work and who will travel to Mexico is Ben Chrisman. Check out his work at Creative Documentary Wedding Photography Jessica
  6. For those getting married at Isla Mujeres, SunHorse Weddings owned by Tiffany Lanier is known to be very professional. Jessica
  7. Another great photographer who will travel to Mexico is Ben Chrisman. Check out his work at Creative Documentary Wedding Photography
  8. Hi Jill This is Jessica. someone told me it may not be a good idea to use an IPOD because there is a two second delay in between songs? Just a thought. Better they said to have CD with all of your fave songs.
  9. I saw several of Paul's (from Playa WEddings) videos on his website. In most of his work the photographer was Sol Tamargo.
  10. Thank you Anny! I pray you will have a wonderful time at your wedding! Jessica
  11. Hi Anny, I am looking for hair and make-up stylist too. Can you post the contact information for Alberto Lagos and also your wedding coordinator? Thanks much! You're awesome!
  12. Dear Anny, thank you so much for posting pictures of the gazebo at the JW. As you know, I am thinking of getting married there too. I am a little concerned because we have moved the wedding date to Feb. 16, 2008. I thought the weather is supposed to be better starting February. We are trying to move the date as far away from bad weather as much as possible. The reception is at the Marriott too. I know they have back up indoors. But we really want the wedding and reception outdoors so we'll pray for good weather. Thank you very much again for posting the pictures. I am very excited for you and your wedding! Take care! JESSICA
  13. Hi! We too have decided to have our wedding at JW Marriott CAncun primarily because they will allow CAtholic wedding in their gazebo. I agree, the wedding coordinator is great! She is very professional yet not very strict. They allow outside wedding coordinators, you can hire your own DJ, decorations, flowers. And they are very professional! After speaking to the WC, I felt assured that the wedding will be ok. Some of the WC's I spoke with (at other resorts) took too long to get back to you. And what is best is I don' t have to pay a day pass if my guest is not staying at the hotel. Guests can stay wherever they please according to their budgets. I highly recommend JW Marriott Cancun.
  14. No, they will not allow bonfires on the beach. I think very few resorts will allow bonfires. Fire restrictions they said. Somewhere in Cancun there was a fire last year (I was told) due to bonfires. And I think it would also require special permits.
  15. Hi! I just spoke with Claudia on the phone. For reception the speaker, DJ, microphone, whole set up is $280.00/hr. I clarified with her if this will include speakers and she said yes. For ceremony, if you want speaker and microphone it is $180.00 for the whole ceremony. She said she will send me pictures of the hair and make-up and I will post them. Jessica
  16. Hi! I am getting married there in November. I don't have the answers to all your questions. I do know that they do not allow bonfires at the beach. It is great that there are more of us Dreams Brides on this website now. We can exchange info! Jessica
  17. Hello Dreams Cancun Brides! This is a nice photoshow! I think you would convince you to have your wedding at Dreams! http://photoshow.comcast.net/maryweil/dreams_weddings_ Or if the link does not work, go to the Dreams website and there is a new FORUM and you will find Dreams Weddings with photoshows. Jessica
  18. Hi Anny, I am looking at the package you have from Fiesta Americana Condesa CAncun and that is more affordable than what Dreams CAncun is offering. They have wedding packages at minimal price but some of the wedding details that are not part of the package can be quite high like speakers I believe are 200/hr! The DJ is 280/hr, dance floor 500/night. I thought AI should be more affordable coz guests are staying there for several days. I am tempted to look at Fiesta Americana Condesa now. Do they have a wedding gazebo? I will look at their website. Jessica
  19. Hi! I am also a Dreams Cancun bride! I think! I am still waiting for the contract from Claudia. What I did was decide on the location. I think that is the most critical. I looked in many places. I chose Dreams CAncun because I love the location of the wedding gazebo, they have a lot of experience with weddings, close to nightlife for the groomsmen, kid friendly for the nephews. If we did not have children in the party there are other resorts I would have chosen perhaps like Excellence, Hideaway Playacar, El Dorado, etc. I would have gone to Cabo also but a swimmable beach is very important to our family. After location, next would be photographer. I actually chose my wedding date based on the availability of my photographer. So those three things are critical for me. And that is still where I am at right now. Don't worry, like everyone else has said in this forum, it should all come together! Take care. If there is anything I can do to help let me know! Jessica
  20. Dreams Cancun: They only do 2 weddings a day. My wedding is on a Sunday. According to Claudia they cannot do legal weddings on Sunday so ours is going to be a spiritual one. I have emailed her. Sometimes it takes her a while to email me back so I have called her several times too.
  21. Hello! For those of you who are considering Isla Mujeres, here is the link to outstanding pictures. The wedding coordinator for SunHOrse WEddings is very nice. Her name is Tiffany. You can google SunHorse weddings for info about her. Cancun/RM has no sunsets. Isla Mujeres has magnificent sunsets. Past weddings on Isla Mujeres Photo Gallery by SunHorse Weddings at pbase.com
  22. The total package for Elizabeth is on her website. Jackie is also having Elizabeth and she put up some information about her. You can do a search for her on this website and the thread should appear.
  23. I see. I will just pray the DJ will be a good one! Our wedding is not until November. I guess we would know from the Dreams Cancun brides who will get married before us. Thanks!
  24. Hello everyone! I need a good DJ for Dreams Cancun wedding. Claudia told me she does not work with outside coordinators. Is this true? For the Dreams Cancun brides, is this the case also with you? I really believe for the DJ, videographer and photographer, I really want to be the one to choose. I need help with this one! Thanks!
