And yes, plan on doing my photos earlier). But I'm hoping that there's at least somewhere else to go on proerty if the party actually has to end at 10:30! Ack - another thingk i didn't think of yet... I got my reception extended to 11:00pm but that's all Sandra would budge. The reason being is my reception will be at the Seaside Grill and there are guest rooms not too far from there. Sandra says it is hotel policy to end everything at 10:30 in consideration of the other guests who may want to try and get some sleep. But, if you're reception is in the new ballroom, I don't see why you would have to end it so soon. I think one of the reasons for building a ballroom is to have more private ceremonies. And it won't be close to any rooms so I think it would be okay to keep the party going until later.
  2. I've thought about asking a dear friend but at the same time I want her to ENJOY her vacation as opposed to chasing after my WC. Soo, don't know. After reading several reviews I think I am going to be on tequila therapy until after the wedding!!!!
  3. I love Dreams Tulum, but I wouldn't recommend as a honeymoon site. It's beautiful and relaxing but I would rather a more romantic resort. And one where there aren't kids running all over the place! A couple of friends of mine honeymooned at El Dorado Royale and LOVED it! They spoke wonders of the private/outdoor shower! Anyway...my fiance and I are considering going to Cuba since we will only be about a 30 min plane ride away. I hear the beaches there are beautiful and I would love to see Havana.
  4. I would like an outside coordinator just for the wedding day. Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm getting married at Dreams Tulum and have read that although the WC are extremely nice they aren't always on top of things and sometimes slow. I want to make sure someone is there to keep the ball rolling. Also, does anyone know how much an outside WC costs?!?!? karla
  5. Thanks for filling us in with all the details. I am not getting married at EDR but know any of your issues could come up at my resort. So thanks for telling us all about it. It makes me very nervous to think the same could happen to me.

I would be willing to do a mass order if there are several brides out there who are interested. But I would like to wait to hear more from those who've already bought and received the products.
  7. I got excited too! My wedding is in November and the airfare right now is $700 !!! Looking for any and ALL discounts possible!

I booked my wedding at the end of January for November 28 and have yet to buy my flight!! Just explain to Sandra and it should be okay. Don't be surprised if they ask you to reserve your room though. I did it a week after I booked my time slot. Oh, and congrats on choosing Dreams Tulum. You are going to LOVE it!! It is so beatiful, relaxed, and most importantly very flexible when it comes to the wedding planning. Have fun!
  9. This is such a great find! And the price is very reasonable. Now I can't decide on whether I should get the passport covers or the flip flop luggage tags. Any suggestions? Karla
  10. Off to Hobby Lobby I go. Hopefully they deal is still on!
  11. I would definitely ask about a dinner at a restaurant. Their first response is always going to be no but if you insist they are very likely to bend the rules. My wedding is in November and I will be having my reception at the Seaside Grill. Sooo again, ask!!! As far as the WC, they have no problem with you bringing someone as long as you count them as your "guest". They will not charge extra just a normal guest rate. I strongly suggest you bring someone with you since we all know how Sandra and Landy work. I am also looking for someone. And yes, you can bring a photog as your "guest" as well. Good Luck!

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! My first choice was the Paradisus. Loved the idea that I would be the only bride for that day. Still, I didn't feel at ease until I saw it for myself and talked to the WC in person. So I flew down in January and was amazed at how expensive it was getting! And despite what I read in other posts they are NOT willing to negotiate. Instead, the prices kept getting higher. I agree, the resort is nice but not that nice to make up for the outrageous costs. Especially considering many other resorts I saw during my site visits included items for free. So, I changed to Dreams Tulum. I asked and there will only be a another bride getting married 5 hours before my wedding so I don't think it will be a problem. Sorry, wish I had better news but the Paradisus ( in my opinion) is NOT the paradise it claims to be.
  13. Anyone hear yet about expiration dates? My wedding isn't until November and I'd like to start getting things in order but don't want it to go bad either.
  14. I love this! It looks like u put a lot of time into it. When are you planning on giving it to your guests?
  15. When I was at DT the disco (which is underneath the main lobby) was dead. I haven't heard great things about it. It's actually pretty cheesy. I'm sorry to sound so negative but that was one thing I wasn't too crazy about at DT. Of course, if the resort is at full capacity then maybe there will actually be people at the disco...hopefully enought for it to be fun and silly. I don't know of any nearby offsite places. I know you aren't crazy about going to PDC but that is the only place I would suggest. It would be worth it! Lots of action, people, tons of places to choose from. Wish I had better news.
  16. One thing to consider about the rates a TA gives you is more than likely it will include transfers to and from hotel. At least that's what my TA's price includes. When I did a rate comparison with expedia, the package price was 20 bucks cheaper than the TA's price BUT did not include transfers which could add up.
  17. Don't mean to change the subject from videographers but I have a question. For those of you doing OOT bags...are you including mugs/glasses? If I remember correctly, DT serves generous portions of drinks in real glasses as opposed to other all-inclusives. Or am I mistaken If they do in fact serve the cheapy, plastic and small cups then I definitely want to include mugs in my OOT bags. It would be so worth it! Anyone know?
  18. or if you have a blackberry and are trying to contact someone who also has a blackberry then you can just "pin" them. I do it all the time when I am in mexico and it's free. but it only works from blackberry to blackberry.
  19. It is not unusual!!!! Many resorts have weddings (sometimeS 2 or 3) a day, EVERYDAY!! When you are on vacation you forget what day it is...except for the day you have to leave because everyone dreads it. Soo I say, no one will care your wedding is on Tuesday. What they will care about is if it costs way more!! Also, just a possibility. Ask if a certain time is available for your wedding, not a day. Sandra may have a 5 pm wedding scheduled but has 1pm available but doesn't suggest it because most brides want a sunset ceremony. If you don't mind getting married late morning or early afternoon the day you want may be available. It's worth asking!!

You won't have any direct contact with the onsite coordinators until you arrive the days before your wedding. That was my biggest problem. Why have a middle man? But you are right. Their concept is great. One thing you should know is Azul Beach is very, very small. Azul View is way bigger but not too big like other resorts. My fiance and I are thinking of staying at Azul View a couple of nights after our wedding.
  21. The person in the states I dealt with was Nancy. She is out of Miami. When u go down for a site visit you will speak with Carolina who is with Karisma and Karla who is with Lomas. Both girls were very nice and showed us around but aren't allowed to talk about details, prices, packages etc.etc. I asked if a certain corner of the resort was available for the reception and they said "ask Nancy". How many people max? They said "ask Nancy." I was there, in person but still couldn't plan anything with them. Very frustrating. Soo, I went with another resort. But I can tell you I liked the hotels...just wouldn't get married there.
  22. I also visited Azul View while I was down for my site visit. It looks like it will be amazing! It will be opening in October, if everything goes as planned. I just didn't care too much for the wedding coordinator. That was my big drawback. She is out of Miami and from what I'm told by the onsite planners, she has only been to the Azul resorts once. I figured she just didn't have the experience and knowledge I was looking for to plan the biggest day of my life.
  23. Is it me? Or does the price of the DJ and his services/dance floor/fireworks seems really reasonable. I'm actually getting married at Dreams Tulum. Wonder if he could go to our wedding? I haven't heard rave reviews about the guy there.
  24. 2 fire dancers, 20 minutes for $200 bucks?! Not bad! I saw a fire dancer from the distance while I did my site tour. It looked amazing and I could hear the wedding guests clapping and awwwing. And they didn't have the dancers for too long so I think 20 min is more than perfect! Now, all I need to know is how much for a bonfire? Anyone know??
  25. yeah, was just wondering the same? Dance floor included? Or does it come with a pkg from Dreams Cancun? I've never seen anything like that and really like it!
