BDW Biggest Loser Season 2 Official CHAT thread...
can't wait! replied to Alyssa's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Well, I think I've found the best diet that really works! It was my mother's birthday yesterday so I ate extremely healthy up until dinner. Well, something I ate was not so good because this morning I had a huge tummy ache. AND....I haven't eaten a thing today! I know that isn't healthy but really, I have no hunger. Just thinking of food makes me cringe. Maybe I can stay like this until the final weigh in?! lol -

OOT bags... Buyer BEWARE!
can't wait! replied to caroline's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Wow, can I come to your wedding!?! LOL I have literally caught myself saying "NO" outloud at target. Especially with all those dollar trinkets they sell. I want to buy everything but now I'm just thinking I don't want to lug all that s@#$ down! Remember, no is no!! -
Keep in mind everything is charged separately. I was looking at having my reception at the dos playas restaurant. To rent it would cost $4,000 alone. Not including price for dinner which doesn't include the price of drinks, doesn't include the price of the ceremony, etc etc. I don't want to discourage anyone but I also don't want anyone to get their hopes up as I did. My parents and I really wanted the wedding here but after totalling everything up for around 80 guests it would have cost $20,000. I don't have that kind of $$ to spend on a wedding.

How much is his illuminated dance floor?! Also, does anyone know if he'd be willing to make the trek to Dreams Tulum?! I've emailed him but am anxious to get a response asap! I really want him to play for our wedding!!! -

I forgot to bring anti-itch cream so suffered... i'm sure you and your guests will be fine though! dont let the mosquitoes ruin your special day!! Thanks for the info! I've already started to look for mini size bug repellants and actually found some for $1.50 at Walgreen's. I'm cheap (and this was an unexpected expense) so I want to wait to see if they go on sale or if I can find them at the dollar store.

With a room reservation, the WC will hold your date and honor it. Sometimes they ask for flight reservations as well but if you haven't booked your airfare it's still ok. All you need is to reserve your room!!!

What is the arch thing on the beach with the bamboo sticks? Is this for the wedding or receptions? Is there room in the back for guests to stand in the chapel? Landy told me there was room for us to put white chairs for guests, but I am a little nervous about it. Also, we just found out that through Apple Vacations they only reserve rooms in the Haceinda or “old†section of the resort. Did you see these rooms? Are they bad? We have tried several times to upgrade our rooms but the resort is booked. If you have any photos of the bars, hotel rooms, church or Sea Side grill, I would love to see them. Any recommendations? I am so excited about going to Mexico. We have 40 people attending including the bride and groom. I am getting a little nervous about traveling with my dress and favors. You should try to posting in the "dreams tulum brides please post here" thread. Most of us DT brides communicate through there and if you read it (it's long!) you should find all your answers. The sticks you are talking about is their version of a gazebo built for the ceremony. There definitely is room for chairs in the back of the chapel. Also room to stand on the sides of the pews. I have a large wedding but I still opted to use the chapel b/c its gorgeous! The hacienda rooms are the "bottom of the line" but from what I've heard are decent enough. I've only stayed in the "dreams" rooms and those are definitely nice. Again, check out the other thread. We have a great group of brides exchanging info on there! Good luck!

This does not look good ladies! The reason I picked the RM for my wedding is precisely because its USUALLY really cheap from Houston and only 2hrs away!! Now, I feel screwed. So of course the 80 or so guests I am expecting haven't booked yet hoping the airfare will go down. I do however have some guests who are booking through vivaaerobus from Austin. Some are just planning to drive to Austin and then take the direct flight. Others are flying southwest to Austin ($88 RT) and then taking vivaaerobus the rest of the way. You can't beat vivaaerobus' fares...about $175 RT with taxes. Just know it is extremely low budget. You have to walk on the runway to get to the plane, you have to pay for a coke, water etc etc. But considering it is sooo cheap and everything else is sooo expensive, I think it's a great deal! And it's a reliable airline, very popular in Mexico.

I agree with Sunbride! I saw several samples of the resort photog's work and was pleasantly surprised. Enough so, we are sticking with them since it's part of the ultimate wedding package we are getting. Plus, they are always on site so if you want to hire them the day after your wedding for your TTD (like we are) you can!

Oh Gosh! Is that another thing I have to worry about?! I was there in late January and really didn't feel the mosquitoes. Wondering if they are in high bloom late November during my wedding? I've read it could be a problem so I was considering putting OFF! in my OOT bags.

This is the first thing I asked my WC about! Can we have a candy buffet!?!? And of course she said yes. Sooo, I plan on going to the Costco in Playa and buying everything there. I want to include local mexican candy too like "glorias" and tamarindos.

It also helps to tip early if you're looking for great poolisde/beach service all day long. That said, by no means are you required to tip waiters, maids, etc. At nightly rates of $200+ per person in January I don't want my guests thinking they HAVE to shell out more cash on top of that. You're right Neen! Thank u for posting this. Not sure why some are saying you have to tip. I mentioned bringing down the extra dollar bills because after you experience the great service, you'll want to leave a few bucks here and there. And plus, I have found you get better service by leaving an unexpected tip.

Welcome Neen, how about info regarding tipping?! Some of my guests have asked me if tipping is included. What I suggested was to take as many one dollar bills as possible and leave a few when and if you feel the service was outstanding. When I was there for my site visit, I forgot one dollar bills. I ended up leaving 5's and 10's and pretty soon I was all out of cash. Sooo, I'm telling my guests to bring tons of one's to tip here and there. And really, I can't think of anything else! You covered it all! And I love the story about how you two met!

I have heard great things about Gran Bahia Prinicipe. Don't know much about the GP other than it's HUGE! Have you done a search on this forum for GP? That could be a good start. Also, I think the money savings shouldn't be overlooked. If it is significantly cheaper then maybe more of your guests will be able to join you on your big day!

Now all you have to do is change the St. Thomas to Dreams Tulum and you can officially become one of us DT brides!!!
