Dreams Tulum does have private receptions. They just completed a beautiful ballroom. And if you don't want it in there, you could pay for another location, still private...it may cost you $750 bucks though. The one drawback is the communication with the wedding coordinator. They are in the process of a transition so it may take a long time to get a response. My suggestion is calling the hotel directly and ask to speak to the WC. You may have to call a few times before you can actually reach her but this way she will be able to tell you if your date is available. I'm having a private reception at Dreams Tulum for about 55-60 people in November. Good luck! PM me if you have other ?'s.

OK ladies! How did we do? I lost...get ready for this...are you sitting down? ONE WHOLE POUND! How pathetic. I have busted my ars working out this week only to see the number drop by one. I'm at the point where I think something may be wrong with me but truth be told I just think it's my age 30 and my slow metabolism. Oh well, at least it's a loss right? Hope everyone had a better week!! -
Ann, I just came across this thread and then proceeded to take a long time to read IT ALL! All I can say is WOW. The way brides on this forum have come forward is really impressive! I can't add much to what has already been said but I do second the notion of contacting the media. Why? I'm a TV reporter and these are the kind of stories that play with peoples emotions which in turn makes the TV stations switchboard go berserk with viewers wanting to help. One thing to consider is calling the media in the area you are in now. They could come over and interview you, Paul and if the hospital allows take beautiful pictures of baby Gwen. I know from experience, viewers will call and help!!! You never know if a milionaire with a sweet plane is watching and wouldn't mind donating his plane. PM and I can help you call the TV stations. I know exactly how to "sell" the story so TV producers would be willing to interview you. Also, I hate to be the devil's advocate but I think flying is your best option. I just saw a pic of Gwen and I can't believe how much she is growing. Everyday, every single day that passes, is a good sign. It's a sign her vitals are getting better, she is becoming stronger, healthier. One day could make all the difference in the world. I would much rather run a 4hr risk than a 4 day (probably more) risk. Find out more about the oxygen she could carry onboard. See if there are masks or anything that could protect Gwen from the airplane air. We could all pitch in with $$ or even miles and you could fly first class. Be the last to board the plane and be the first to get off. Just a thought. I personally think it is too much to take such a young, delicate baby on the road. If you fly, the transfer wil take all but one day. Just something to think about. Good luck!

Stephanie, u are the bestest! You've been there done that yet still are helping us. Thanks!! Since you posted the name of it (I couldn't remember for the life of me) what does everyone who's been to DT think about having my cocktail hour at the Veranda bar?! I'm getting married in the chapel and the reception will be at Seaside. My mom was thinking the lobby bar would be a great place. But the Veranda bar is much closer. I want to keep people away from seaside until reception time so they won't see all the decorations and stuff. Any thoughts? Appreciate the help.

Guest pass is only for one day. It's $80 bucks for full day (bk, lunch, dinner) and I think $50 bucks for half day. Which brings me to this question...has anyone on this forum gotten around this charge? Just curious b/c some guests are thinking of staying elsewhere.

All the info you are looking for has been discussed here. Also, look at the wedding guide another bride posted on here a couple of weeks ago. btw...3 weddings max per day, $750 to rent restaurants (but it varies on your package, # of guests) and you CAN make a reservation at the a la carte restaurants only if you have fewer than 20 guests.

I HATE weekends. No, let me make myself clear. I HATE WEEKENDS!!! Why, o why does my willpower disappear? I never thought I'd say this but I can't wait until Monday. -
Are you asking about the docking station for the ceremony or the reception? I know they can set up a docking station where you will have your reception but not sure if they will set it up for you at the chapel. The wedding guide says they take care of setting up a CD player during your ceremony and even offer a CD in case you forget to bring your own wedding music.

We have shot several weddings in Jamaica and the Bahamas so we want to try somewhere else for a vacation. I LOVE Dreams Tulum so I would recommend it in a hearbeat. HOWEVER...if you are looking for a big party, fun, crowds and maybe even clubs/bars this is not the place. DT is very relaxing, beautiful and romantic. They have only one club on property and it is really, really cheesy. Sooo if you want a party maybe you should try Dreams Cancun like Alyssa suggested. It's also in the city where you would have access to shopping, restaurants, clubs etc etc.

Not sure if she is on this site or what? but I dont know how to feel about it I dont want to have our wedding rushed, b/c there is another wedding only an hour after ours... I was hoping to do cocktails outside of the chapel. Im assuming that wont be possible now, and our set up, probably going to get ripped down right after to set up for her day... I was really hoping to take a few pics in there before having everything come down... I dont know? How would you feel also... I already contacted Sandra/ Landy about this, and said it wasnt a problem, they are more than one wedding co ordinator and can handle it... I would be mad. Period. BUT...we all knew this was a possibility when we signed up for a wedding at DT. I'm just hoping any other weddings on my day are earlier so I won't have to run into the other bride (s). Sunbride is right. Ceremonies usually don't take but 20 minutes so I believe you will have plenty of time to do all the things you want to (except maybe the cocktail hour). AND THINK ABOUT THE POSITIVE THINGS. By the time the "other" bride has her ceremony...it will have been a been there done that situation. Not to steal her thunder but you will have been the first, the one your guests/hotel guests see first and will be in awe. When people see the "other" bride it won't be as special because they would have already seen you! Also, since she contacted you...maybe you guys can work together. Ask her to push back her ceremony by 30 minutes. It's a stretch, I know but who knows....maybe she is concerned about the time frame too and would agree to it. ALSO, you guys may want to go in on the ceremony decorations together so you could split the cost. Say...agree on using the same colors of flowers (maybe just all white) that once you use...you can leave behind for her ceremony. Her guests/ your guests won't know. And you can save $$$. Don't know if you've seen it but the chapel is beautiful. You don't need much to decorate it. I'm getting married there too. And lastly, I know the WC won't rush your wedding. They wouldn't do it. They'd rather let the other ceremony start a little later than usual (sometimes that happens anyway, Mexico time remember?!) than to rush YOU. Hope this helps. I know how you feel. I'm still waiting to hear if anyone else is getting married on my day too.

I used to think..."November is soooo far away, I have plenty of time". Um, no. So I'm putting together a list of questions and will email Landy tomorrow. From past experience, I don't expect a response for a week or two, nor a complete response (for some reason they always only answer some questions, not all). Still, I'd like to see if I can get a response from them so I can start working on centerpieces ( I wonder if you rent them there ?) . Also, I'm looking at hiring DJ Mania (thanks to great comments from other brides on this forum) and considering renting white lounge furniture to put around the dance floor. I have all these ideas, just need to know how much $$$$ before I go overboard! I'll post any new info I get as soon as I get it! Promise!!!

wow! U know what I don't get? If you see to the right of a picture there is a cop car. This happened in Mexico and MX police drive those kind of cars. U would think the cop could have seen the drivers erratic behaviour? Maybe not. Things do happen so fast. Still, what I find amazing is that only one person died (thank goodness).

I wanna know more about reception centerpieces....what kind of table they will have for a group of about 55...renting lounge furniture...etc etc. My mom wants to start buying stuff for the tables but since we don't know how many it will be I tell her to hold off. She says "just ask your WC"! If she only knew it takes forever and a day (that's if you're lucky!) for them to get back to you!

The new wedding guide says it MUST be buffet for dinners over 50 people on the beach. My reception is at the seaside grill and i was hoping to serve from the golden menu. BTW I'm six months out. When does Sandra or Landy, I should say, start communicating with you? I've had so many questions but been hesitant to email because I know they are so busy and have other brides. My feeling is I should wait my turn.

I also have the ultimate wedding package and are expecting around 55 people.

I am going to my WW meeting today and getting back on track. Let's go girls! Yari, I couldn't have said it better myself! I too have been avoiding this thread because I'm not feeling it. The thing is though...I'm still excercing. Way more than say, 5 months ago, but I'm not seeing results. Of course I'm not eating super, duper healthy but I have been limiting myself much more than before. No more red wine after work. Less eating out. More lean cuisines! And I would understand if I only lost a pound or two but nothing! I don't get !! I told my fiance last night I was giving up. He said no way! I would love to lose 5 lbs by the end of this competition. But don't know if my body will allow it. Oh well, off to a kickboxing class. Sometimes I ask myself, why bother...you ain't going to lose!!! btw...I'm back up and pound a half! ugh! -

I'm so sorry but I don't have an answer for you. What I do know is many (me included) are getting around the legal technicalities of Mexican law by just having a symbolic ceremony. This way we don't have to do blood work, sign legal mumbo jumbo, and aren't forced to get there "x" amount of days before the ceremony. We plan on going to the courthouse at home a couple of weeks before our trip.

Yeah Glenda! Congrats! I can't believe I came in 2nd. We gotta keep working it ladies! As my FH sings as I'm waking up "You've got to move it, move it!" Silly, yes. But it does get me up and going. -

I make way more money than most other people my age in my field, and I have a master's degree (which most journos dont have because they think it's a waste, but you cant teach college without a masters!). I'll make about $50K with my year end bonus and service award this year. I also teach college journalism as an adjunct faculty member at the school where I got my masters degree. I typically teach one class a semester, which ups my earnings by a few thousand dollars. In the fall semester, I am due for a big teaching raise due to my service hours, which will be a nice supplement to my income in the fall. I will use that money to pay toward my massive mountain of student loan debt. We aren't so bad! j/k Maura And I too got a masters degree out of college. Teaching at a local college wouldn't be so bad now that I think of it. But I will have to wait until I'm ready for a career change. I'm a TV reporter for a top ten market and that is extremely fun but demanding. I can't complain about the pay though, I will be pushing 100k this year and I'm a year from turning 30. Life could be worse.
