  1. Amy I love them both, you look totally great in them. I can't believe your day is coming up so fast, it seems like its been forever in the making
  2. I agree, I am not enjoying the show right now at all. And why oh why does Nick have to get into another accident, have we not seen that enough times already.
  3. Welcome back!!! Congratulations!!
  4. DH is in IT and makes more than me, but only because he is still working in Toronto and I work in Barrie. When we were both working in Toronto he didn't make much more than me at all.
  5. Wow Michelle, that is crazy that its your time. I am so excited for you. You will have an amazing time. I hope your wedding is all you ever dreamed it would be.
  6. I am just going to say what everyone else is saying, its not selfish, its YOUR wedding, not their's. Can you pick a less expensive resort in the DR, or is your heart set on one particular resort? I think you should do what you want to do and not worry about what others want you to do.
  7. Wow, 2 weeks away. I know I should not be so shocked by that, but I am Everything looks amazing. I can't wait to see how it all plays out. And hear all about it.
  8. I am in the minority, I love dresses 1 and 4, but I do like them all. Number 2 seems a little too casual to me, but it all depends on the feel you are going for. I love your dress, I can't wait to see a picture of you in it.
  9. I am a Real Estate Law Clerk. I am not making great money right now, but for the city I live in its really good money. I made 25K more a year when I lived in Toronto and have more vacation time and better benefits, but I moved to Barrie to help out my sister and took a serious pay cut, vacation time cut and benefits cut. Luckily my DH has great benefits so that is not a big deal to me. As of September though, I will be making significantly less money, 55% of what I make right now, but I am not complaining since I will get to be home with my baby for a year and not have to work at all (in real estate, I am sure the work is going to be harder) and still make 55% of what I am making right now. One more reason I love being Canadian

That is great that they are honouring the price, but really it should not have a stipulation like a book by date, its their fault not yours. I hope it does not effect to many people. I am glad its working out for you.

Personally I would not want her to plan anything, I would want her to be there, but I would not want her to plan it. If she does not care enough to be there without giving you a good reason AND, told you over email, then I don't think she will put as much effort into the planning as your sisters would. That is just my opinion though.
  12. I can't believe her, that is not news you tell someone in an email. I had an issue with one of my BM's stepping down pretty late in the game, she already ordered the dress and everything, but I ended up asking someone else and I am so glad I did because she did a great job and was honoured to be asked and it worked out great. Is there someone else you can ask, I bet they will do a better job because they will WANT to be there, instead of giving you a lame excuse.
  13. Ann she is perfect, totally perfect. I am so happy that she is such a smart little girl and knew that it was time to come out no matter what the doctors thought, she is already smarter than doctors She is sure to be an amazing little girl. She is going to love hearing the story of her birth when she is old enough. Congratulations to you and Paul, I am so happy that everything turned out so well.
  14. Welcome Amy!! I got married in Cuba, so if you have any questions let me know. I have also been to Varadero twice, so I have some knowledge of the area as well. Happy Planning! Where in Northern Ontario are you from? I live in Barrie.
  15. Our TTD session was the most fun thing we ever did. I highly reccomend it because the pictures are so much more relaxed and fun. I had a hard time convincing DH to do it, he hates getting his pictures taken, but he loved it and was so happy we did it. Most of the pictures we framed are from that day. I used the same dress and my dress was all lace and it did no damage to it at all, in fact it made it cleaner because my dress was black on the bottom after my wedding. So do not worry about ruining your dress. Especially if you don't plan on wearing it again.
  16. In 2001 before I went to Thailand I got the Twinrix shots (Hep A and and they are good for 10 years no matter where you go. So when I went to DR and Cuba and all the other places I knew I was safe. I reccomend the Twinrix shots just to be safe, but I really don't think there is anything you NEED to get before you go. But if it makes your mother feel better, than tell her about Twinrix. (I am not sure if there is a US name for it)
  17. I am just going to echo what everyone else is saying, but I agree its not in poor taste at all and I would have done except that even though my resort was AI, we would have had to pay for the dinner no matter where it was because we had too many people. It cost more to do it on the beach, but we figured if we were paying, might as well do exactly what we want.
  18. Carly I am so excited for you. I can't wait to see the pictures and hear all about it. Have the best day of your life today!!!
  19. It is STUNNING!!! I love your dress. Congratulations on finding the perfect dress.
  20. Tami your pictures are stunning!!! You both look so happy and in love. Congratulations.
  21. I love love love number 2, but I think number 1 looks great on you as well, so you can't go wrong with either of those.

Hey, I agree with all of you, I am not a fondant fan although I prefer to use it on all my cakes because it looks amazing. I for one make it much thinner than most places do, and I use one of the best tasting fondants around. I have had the kind that tastes like playdoh and its just not edible, but I do use a really good one. So, I was not taking offence to what you said, I was just saying there are many different kinds of fondant, some that are not edible and some that taste much better. I personally pick it off my cake when I eat it, but I also put lots and lots of buttercream underneath it, so its just the thin fondant layer that is left on my plate
  23. I got one via email and its for 20% off your entire purchase up till April 19. It was by email though, so I can't post it here. If you want it, PM me with your email address and I can send it to you.

I hate, hate, hate, HATE dress pants, so I was thinking of going with a nice skirt and shirt. Is that appropriate? The problem is when I wear skirts I never wear pantyhose because I hate them. But I've also really never worns skirts in a professional environment. I'm assuming I should wear pantyhose? Even with a calf length skirt? Also, are open toed shoes a total no? I feel so lost! I realized that all my clothing is either 1. jeans and super casual or 2. "going to the club!" kinda stuff. I need to expand my wardrobe for the professional world. ::Sigh:: I also hate tights, but I always wear them to an interview, just in case. You would not want to not get the job because of something silly like that. Also, wear closed toe shoes for sure just to be on the safe side. Once you have the job you will know what the dress code is right away and will know how to dress. I have worked in several law firms and always had to be very dressy, so I speak from experience. If you can get a suit jacket and a skirt to match that would be perfect. Just wear the tights and closed toe shoes for sure to the interview.
  25. I personally would not pick a resort for my DW or reccomend it to my friends if they did not allow me to bring who I want (which I am paying for myself) to make my day exactly the day I dreamed of. So, I totally think this boycott is a great idea and I think Tammy is a great TA for doing it and for looking out for of the brides on this forum by letting them know what is going on there. Great job Tammy.
