When I am having trouble getting in contact with her, my travel agent is usually able to call her or the Dreams Rep. here in the US to get my questions answered. That might help Calling Sandra is always an option too. The international rates are sort of scary, but in a pinch its something we might have to do.

It really gets to me that there is one day of your life that is supposed to be all about you and your fiance, and everyone seems to try to make it all about them.

Karen and I are going to Mexico by ourselves to get married. Some people are truly happy for us, while others, like my father, are pissed. He made a comment the other day that "after all of the years of care and support as a father, I pay him back by not inviting him to my wedding". That made me feel wonderful Its not that we dont want anyone there. We just want it to be the two of us. If that makes any sense.

It seems that you get a different answer to the same question every time you ask it down there. At first there was no mention of a deposit. Then it was $50, payable to our Travel Agent. Then it was back to paying when we get there. Apparently, Sandra had our date reserved already, so I am not clear on what the deposit was for.

Congrats!! We are getting married at Dreams Tulum on July 4th. But...........we are spending the last 4 night of our trip at Dreams Cancun. So, we will be there at the hotel when you get married. Maybe we will get a glimpse of your ceremony while we are relaxing in the sun with tropical beverages in hand.

The can-do maps are a life saver, especially if you are renting a car down there. It is nearly impossible to find a real map of the area showing roads and actual locations of everything. I just ordered my new Cancun one as well as the updated Riviera Maya map. The best part is that they work like a guide book. Laura and Perry give short reviews and prices of just about every restaurant and attraction on the maps from their own experience or the experience of others that they trust. Their reviews have not let me down yet.

The AI policy at each resort can be different.I have even read about some resorts that issue 3 meal tickets and a few drink vouchers per day. Anything beyond that you have to pay for. Usually the resort website will spell out their policy for you. I am staying at Dreams Tulum, which in my understanding, alows unlimited everything. I did not want to get tied up with vouchers or restrictions. Are you looking at a particular resort? I am sure that someone here has either stayed there or could help out with the resort policies.

After emailing nearly every photographer in the Yucatan, I finally decided on who to use. We are going with Vanessa Vargas. She gave us a price quite for photos and video that was more than reasonable, and I absolutely love her work. Probably because her style is so similar to my own. Things that influenced our decision::: 1. Style. I cant stand the stiff, traditional stlye. Hers is more of a photojournalism style and that she does not use flash very much. A lot of times a slightly blurry photo without flash adds a dimension to it that I love rather than a crisp photo with flash. Thats just personal preference though. 2. Price. We have champagne tastes, with a budweiser budget. Vanessa put together a custom package to suit our needs and budget 3. Equipment. I had one photographer reply to my questions about what equipment he uses with a photo and a lengthy proud description of his point and shoot camera. No thank you. I have a big expensive camera, and I expect the same from my photographer or better. 4. It will be her taking the photos instead of an assistant. Some responses said they were booked for our date, but they could have one of their helpers do it. No thank you, and definitely not for the same price. Some of her recent weddings are here.......... Redirect Page I took Jill's advice to someone else to ask to see complete wedding galleries from recent shoots. That is what sealed the deal with me.

Should I have a MARIACHI BAND or a TRIO?
lambert13 replied to Sarah's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
A good mariachi band can play all sorts of music. At a resort I stayed at in Cancun, they had a house Mariachi band that would play soft, melodic music during dinner then later on at the outdoor patio bar they would play upbeat festive music. Since it is just going to be Karen and I at the ceremony, I dont think we are doing either choice. We would be outnumbered either way . A solo guitarist is also an option. -

They also love to lay in front of our patio window and "sunbathe" That sounds like my little one. She follows the sunny spot on the floor in the kitchen as it moves throughout the day. Other than that she just wants to lay on the couch and watch tv with me. And yes, she is loud one. She is a total chicken and gets scared by everything, but she loves barking at every noise she hears.

Here is Chloe the Beagle of doom. She is 7 now, and I got her when she was 6 weeks old from the local save-a-stray .

Thanks everyone! Jill, I will definitely try a font with a little bit of a flourish tonight. I was so focused on trying to find Mexican-inspired and/or vintage fonts that I overlooked that idea. Thanks again. On the reverse side of the postcard, I am working on a light toned, transparent, black-and-white image of the two of us with the details or the event in typeface on top of the image in a dark black.

That design is awesome. Good job with the colors, theme, fonts and all that. What size are the magnets? The only thing I can see as a problem is being able to read everything depending on the size of the magnets. The image on my monitor is 4.5x3.5 approx. when I put a ruler on my screen. That size works just fine. If you were going much smaller than that the text on the bottom would probably be too small to read in the font you are using.

Another thing to think about it the Riviera Maya. It is a distinctly different type of area from Cancun. More secluded, depending on where you go. More romantic. I love both areas, but for different reasons. Cancun has everything packed into one long strip of beach, whereas the RM is spread out over 120 miles of beaches. Playa Del Carmen is active, crowded and busy, but most other areas are sleepy. An area like Akumal or Xpu Ha is about as relaxed as you can get

I love, love, love Cancun and the Riviera Maya. But, I have not been to Cabo yet, so I cant say how I would feel about that area. pros for Cancun 1. Cost. Cancun and the RM can be very low cost. 2. Lots to do. Snorkeling, fishing, art, Mayan ruins. 3. The most beautiful color water I have ever seen. Ultimately, I would say to go with your gut instinct. Even if Cabo costs more, it might be worth it to you. I knew within minutes of my first trip to Mexico with Karen that we would get married there.

It is just the two of us going to Mexico, but some of the questions are relevant........ 1. Ask about insurance for the trip. Especially during hurricane season 2. Find out about transfers from the airport to the resort 3. Ask about free wedding/honeymoon upgrades and bonuses.

I sent her an email earlier asking for more samples and customer feedback from recent jobs.

Monograms
lambert13 replied to MikkiStreak's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
If you are submitting a design to a printer it is always best to give the file to them in a format created by a graphics program. I use Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop CS2 for things like that. Illustrator would be the best bet though because it is focused on graphic design with type elements in it.
