There might be a straggler who needs a photographer around somewhere, but I am sure they need more info. Do you have a website? Where are you willing to travel to? Prices? Experience?

I love it. I am a somewhat respectable member of society at this point in my life, but I still love the punk rock and some of the people I love the most still have mohawks.

10 Wedding Tips for the Groom

Whenever anyone starts off a statement with some sort of qualification like "I am not trying to be rude" or "Im not racist, but" it always means the exact opposite. Its just a feeble attempt to soften the blow of what they are about to say. If someone is not racist, they would have no need to identify someone by their race. It just should not even matter.

Summer temps in RM?
lambert13 replied to DEE1978's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I always go down that way in June or July. The prices are usually better, the ocean is bathwater type warm and its not quite hurricane season yet. The weather can get pretty hot during the daytime but thats what that beautiful ocean is there for. If you go to the weather underground website they have a trip planner feature that shows average weather conditions for your travel dates. They use the past ten years of data. -
Etiquette advice needed desperately!!
lambert13 replied to MelissaH's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
A good friend of Karen's is having a destination wedding (Niagara Falls) two months after we get married in Mexico. They have been friends for decades and all her friend wants is for us to be there. Knowing that we are spending our last dime on our wedding, they offered to pay our way to their wedding. We declined the money offer, but we were not offended in the least by the offer. It's in the way you present the offer. They were not calling us poor, they just wanted to do whatever it takes to have us there. -
If you need cheap printing of the brochures to make them look all professional like, vista prints is a great online printer with amazing prices. We are using them for postcard favors at out reception when we get home.

I am wearing a tan linen suit, white broadcloth cotton shirt and brown leather sandals. I love the look of the linen suit, but if it gets too warm I like the way the pants look with just the shirt also. There are lots of ideas on the thread posted above to get you thinking in different directions.

Glass transfer paper???
lambert13 replied to MrsWtobe's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Can you post a sample of your monogram? Depending on how detailed it is, you might be able to create a 1 or 2 layer stencil and use acrylic paint that is formulated for painting on glass. One color would be fairly simple, but 2 or more colors could be pretty difficult. -
Vote for your destination!

We chose the Riviera Maya and more specifically because we fell inlove with Tulum. Since we wanted to do an all-inclusive for our DW, Dreams Tulum is as close as we can be to Tulum and still have AI. I am still lobbying with Karen to try to stay in an eco-cabana on the beach at Tulum for a few days while we are down there. There is just something so romantic, relaxing and centering about staying in a cabana on the beach with no electric, no TV, no noises except for the ocean. I might be able to get my way for a few days. -

(No, seriously, you guys should totally crash our karaoke thing). Yes, that's right. I'm wearing a "Bride" bathing suit after the wedding. I'm wearing a great big dress for the wedding on the beach even though it's Tulum in July. I'm having a karaoke thing instead of a dance. I think Michael and I are going to get good at one song and do that instead of the couple's dance. Since neither of us can/like to dance. I am total white trash. Anyway, Jason, if you guys don't meet up with us for a drink or anything, I am totally going to kick your *ss. Because, remember, I'm...(see above). We will totally be there with flannel shirts and big belt buckles holding up Rustler Jeans. Actually, I have dressed like that. Strike that comment. If I get enough tequila in me to do Karaoke, the only song I do is "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis. With all inclusive drinks, I might even slur like the King in his later years. Sounds like an awesome plan for the wedding. There is no reason for such a great day to be brought down by somber traditions and acting like "adults". I am trying to decide now how I will jump into the pool after the photos with my suit on. Its a toss up between Ron Burgundy "Cannonball!!" style or running around like a soccer player yelling GOOOOOOAAAAL and belly flopping into the pool. Either way, I want to make a scene. Karen has a white bathing suit picked out for the wedding day also. Instead of a formal dinner for us on our wedding night, we are going into Tulum Pueblo instead and eating at our favorite restaurant. The have great food and awesome "live" music. It basically a Mexican dude with a slightly below average voice and a casio keyboard playing the pre-set Marimba beat. Its awesome though. He was doing everything from "Mariachi Loco" to Duran Duran songs.

I do think that a celebratory drink for the 4 of us is in order though.

Found this place while researching for a place that Karen and I can get massages the day before the wedding. I know that we will both really need one by then. Seems like they have good prices and decent reviews. Location is right in PDC. About 45 minutes from Tulum, 45 minutes from Cancun, 30 minutes from Akumal. A half day trip to PDC would be a fun idea with lunch on 5th, a beer or two at a beach club then a massage. .: Spa Itzá – Mexico´s World Class Day Spa :.

Gift for your Groom
lambert13 replied to KarlaV's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I like this thread If anyone needs Karen's email address to send her links to Rolex, Tag, Aston Martin and makers of fine plasma TV's just let me know. -
Awesome! I am sure that everyone will love the RM. For more affordable options you might want to look into: Dreams Tulum (I am biased towards that one though) Bahia Gran Principe Any of the Riu resorts Akumal Beach Resort Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. I am sure that there will be a bunch of other suggestions. I can dig around for bakeries in the area down there. I dont have my list with me, but I did a little research on it also

At Home Receptions - with or without
lambert13 replied to ~Melissa~'s topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Since Karen and I are not bringing anyone with us to Mexico, we are doing a small AHR for our families. We are planning on a dinner for about 25 people at a Mexican restaurant here in town. -
Post Groom and GM attire
lambert13 replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Got another great deal to share with everyone. I might be buying this suit in tan to wear to a different wedding this summer. I tried the suit on at a Jos. A. Banks store around here and loved the way it felt. They did not have the right jacket length in store though. The price is definitely right though. JoS. A. Bank Clothiers - Stays Cool 2-Button Suit -
Looks like there will be a bunch of us there around the same time getting married. Laura's wedding is only 3 days away from mine. I am sure that there will be no lack of information for future Dreams couples when we all get back.

I had emailed nearly every wedding photographer in the Cancun/RM area with requests for custom package prices because it is just going to be Karen and I. The most reasonable offers for what I thought were quality photographers were.... Michael Maurus Cancun Studios Anthony Caronia Claudia Rodriguez We ended up going with Vanessa Vargas for a number of reasons including price, style, availability and communication. We ended up getting a package with Vanessa that is cheaper than using the resort photographer and videographer also. Thats the great thing about a photographer that will customize a package to get you exactly what you want and need. Never hesitate to ask if they are willing to modify their standard packages.

I would imagine that they will have some flexibility about the 80% rule if the RPLA is booked solid. Maybe some of your guests can stay at the Riu Cancun or the Riu Caribe.. Both are still very close the the RPLA. Or at another resort and have them waive the day pass fee. I remember reading on here about someone who asked their WC about reducing the day pass fee and the WC ended up waiving it altogether. In an extreme case, maybe they can have some of your guests stay at one of the Riu resorts south of Cancun and provide some sort of shuttle service.
