  1. Hi Maureen! Welcome to the board. I'm a relatively new bride to be as well and I can't even begin to tell you how helpful all the girls have been. Happy planning and ask ask away with any questions you have! Nikki
  2. TAMMYM....just looked on the Sheraton website and the DeCortez is EXACTLY the look that we've been looking for! Do you have any information (prices, etc.) from the Sheraton that you can share with me (PM if you want)?
  3. Hey girls- I'm really concerned with having good food at our reception. One of the main factors in determining where we have our reception will be the menu and food. For all of you brides or brides to be that have done your site visits, can you tell me the following: Resort/Hotel Name: What type of service (buffet, plated, etc): What did you sample (brides to be) or serve (brides) for the: - Appetizers: - Soup/Salad: - Entree: - Dessert: How was the food specified above (ok, bad, excellent, etc): I understand that everyone will have different likes/dislikes when it comes to food but I'm trying to determine if certain resorts/hotels have outstanding food and which ones I should stay away from.
  4. Ok need help with this one... Do you still 'register' for gifts? We plan on having a small reception/dinner when we return back home from our DW and his Mom thinks that all the women coming to the DW as well as the home reception would want to go to a shower. I don't expect people paying to come to the DW to give gifts and I don't expect people coming to the reception to give gifts because technically they weren't really invited to the 'wedding'. My FI still thinks we should register for some gifts. Doesn't that just seem rude?
  5. We save all year long and then cash in the coins to fund whatever we're doing for New Years. this usually involves traveling and it's almost always covered by all the change we saved.
  6. this is soooo good to hear. I was freaking out thinking that guests had to stay at the same venue that the event was being held at. This puts a whole new spin on things ) !
  7. I'm struggling with the thought of asking my guests to pay $200-$300/night for 3-4 nights for my wedding. However, the 3 venues that I would LOVE to have my ceremony/reception at charge those type of rates. Is/has anyone hosting their ceremony/reception at a different resort other than the one their guests are staying at? Any thoughts on this? Too confusing, too much extra planning, etc. Is there some financial perk to staying and hosting at the same venue?
  8. thanks girls. Does anyone know when high school spring break is? I want to ensure all spring break (college and high school) is over with before we have our wedding. I think my grandparents would have a heart attach otherwise We were targeting April 26 or May 3 of 2008 but if spring break ends then I would like to marry earlier in the month of April (like 2nd week or so). thx
  9. I like the one with the calendar. I think it would be helpful for guests especially if they are planning to extend the wedding trip as a vacation. They have a handy calendar showing days/dates surrounding your big event! All three are great though!
  10. Congrats and Welcome to the forum! Happy planning..you'll find more than enough information to keep you busy on this site. It's addicting once you get started
  11. How many points do I need to download attachments? I can't open any of the attachments in any of the threads? I should mention that I'm new to the site... Thx.
  12. Sarah- Do you have any info (word/pdf/excel) documents on menus, pricing, wedding planning, etc. for weddings at the Hilton?
  13. What is the best method for finding out rates and information for venues once I've narrowed it down to a few? Am I better off working directly with the hotel and asking them what dates they have available and what rates they can provide based on those dates? or would I be better off working with a travel agency? Unfortunately, I was thinking of $250/night average rate but my FI was thinking more along the lines of $200/night average for our guests. From your experience, do you know what hotels in Cabo run these type of rates in April timeframe? My thoughts are that the type of hotel that would put on a nice wedding would be more $$ than $200/night and if we base our entire wedding on $200/night for our guest then our wedding is going to have to be at a 'less' nicer hotel. Am I way off base here?
  14. Hi All! We're targeting Cabo for our 2008 wedding but we haven't decided on a specific month yet. does anyone know if there is a drastic price difference in flights and hotel $$ between the months of Feb/March/April? We don't really want to wait until April and would prefer a Feb/March wedding but if the prices are cheaper then we'll think about waiting until April? Also, is there anyone who frequents Cabo often that can shed some light on which months are better weather wise? We went in January of 2006 and the sun didn't shine for 7 days and it was FREEZING. We were told that that wasn't the norm so I'm wondering...is there really a big difference in weather between Feb/March/April? Thanks again for the quick responses
