Looking forward to hearing all about your summer weddings girls. I would love to have a bon fire too! I'm wondering the same thing, is the price negotiable? I'm not much of a negotiator so I usually pay what ever their asking : Aimee

We might do the firepit though - which is $800.00 I think. Did you make the reservations ahead of time (at the steakhouse) for your welcome dinner? This sounds like another good (free) idea aimee
  3. I definatately don't like the idea of paying extra for an open bar! I'm pretty sure that most of my guests will be drinking beer & wine anyway but I still want the option of getting mixed drinks & fancy cocktails. Do you think the hotel will be able to do anything about this? Aimee
  4. Oh yeah, one more thing. Does anyone have ideas for a rehearsal dinner and or welcome dinner on the resort? And what is the cost? Thanks for all your help!

As for the beach reception - there is a fee for the reception location (beach) and then you pay per person for the meal. I think the beach location is $800 for the evening plus $35 per person for the meal. Man, this stuff really adds up. Apparently this also only includes beer and wine for the drinks which is fine with me because people can walk to the bar inside and get other drinks. But if you want an open bar it's $10/person/hour. I think this is all kind of ridiculous since its supposed to be an all inclusive anyway but I'm trying to get over that. Oh and thank you girls for the luminaries and pictures around the dance floor suggestions - I really never would have thought of that! I like it! New crafty project to try! Wow! $800 for a beach reception plus $35/person for meal. I thought the beach reception was $500? A destination wedding is not as cheap as I thought?? I also think that paying for an open bar at an all inclusive is a bit silly but I don't feel right telling people to go inside for their drinks. Is there a price difference btwn getting a dj or bringing an ipod? (is this is dumb question?) ps. I definately hope we use this thread alot. I can use all the help that I can get.
  6. Your invititations look amazing Jessalyn! Your hard worl & all the hours really paid off. You must be so excited to get all your responses back. Aimee
  7. Cute idea. Do you know if they come with the charm too? and maybe you can change the white riibbon to match your colours? Aimee
  8. I was wondering the same thing, laser or electrolosis?? I heard that if you do electrolosis that you can not expose your skin to sun until all your treatments are complete I want to do my underarms so I guess I should do it before the weather starts to warm up. Does anyone know approx. how many sessions I might need? Aimee

    Hi all

Welcome to the forum! Everyone is so helpful on this forum, you will find so many answers to your questions here.
  10. I'm so excited! I am 99.9% sure that I'm booking Juan for my wedding. My FI really liked the pictures on this website, plus I said that everyone else was using him Aimee ps. oops! I think I posted this in the wrong place?
  11. I don't have much planned as well. I have my date reserved, my reception place reserved and that's it! Wait, I lied. I also have my dress! The next thing on my list is to find a photographer but I can't seem to find one. I would like to use Juan but I don't think he fits into my budget and I'm sure he's already booked. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I had the exact same problem and I totally understand your frustration. You should try calling them? Do you have their number? Let me know if you need it and I will look for it. Do you have a specific date in mind? When I reserved my wedding for October, 2007 I don't think there were dates available for the weekends. I didn't want a weekend so I was ok with that. Let me know if I can help. Aimee.
  13. I chose the Riu because I've heard so many good things about it from friends. Also my fiance really liked the pictures from magazines and websites. I'm not muvh of a decision maker so we didn't do much research, we chose the Riu right away. Whichever resort you choose, I'm sure you will love it and have no regrets! Aimee
  14. Thanks for creating such a great site Tammy! This site has definately helped me with my wedding planning. I'm glad to be part of the BDW community.
  15. Edyta, I really, really love your shoes! Did you buy them in TO or on line? I'm so confused, I don't know what shoes I want to get. My dress is ivory w/ a mocha coloured sash. Should I buy an ivory shoe, even though I probably wouldn't wear it again? Or should I buy a gold shoe, even though I probably wouldn't wear it again? Or should I find a mocha coloured shoe, which I'm sure will be impossible to find. (sigh!) I don't know, I guess I still have time... Aimee
  16. I'm a perfectionist too, which is why I won't start a website. Actually, my family won't even bother with the website, they just cut to the chase & call me.
  17. My aunt is buying my fans while she is in the Phillipines. I gave her an idea of what I want but I haven't seen them yet. (cross my fingers!). I think my family would kill me if I didn't get fans. Despite the fact that most of the guests on my side were born in the Phillipines, they complain about hot weather!
  18. Definately a good stress relief! thanks. Aimee
  19. I didn't get a chance to work out this morning (I feel so guilty!) but my FI bought me a Cindy Crawford video. Does that count? Maybe i'll try to work out during Lost. Aimee
  20. I saw his website as well and his pictures looked really nice. Any feedback would be helpful?
  21. Welcome Shawna...another Canadian! woohoo! Julie, have you decided on a resort yet? Aimee
  22. I stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba last January. I loved the resort-absolutely beautiful! I don't remember how long it took to get there from the Cancun airport but I remember it was loooong and it was one of the last stops.
  23. Hi Amy. I booked my resort a year before my weddding. I can't seem to convince my FI to do a site visit but we heard a lot of good things about our resort from friends & family. Aimee.
