I found this website through a friend who works at Papyrus: Albums > Blue Moon  Checkernet The name of the company is checkerboard, and the link I gave you is for their destination wedding album. I don't know what you consider "expensive", but the prices definitely range. The downside is that you can't order from the website - you actually have to go to a dealer. If nothing else, you might get some more ideas about what's out there... hope this helps! FYI You can get these 30-35% off online.. just google checkerboard 30%.. Here's a link to one company. http://www.elegantbrides.invitations.com/ I haven't used them, but I saw the Blue Moon invites at a local store. They're really cute, but super expensive.. in fact I placed an order then realized I was a little nutty to spend $525 on 50 invites that were just plain backed cardstock and an rsvp card. Remember, never pay full price from an online site.. just google for discount codes.

  3. That day I felt like a movie star.. I did like my hair ALLOT but when I saw the photos from our cameras I thought the makeup was really unlike me. I'm one of those chapstick and brown eye shadow girls. lol The only problem was I thought our engagement photos should really look more like the two of us on a normal day.. It was pretty hot too so after about a half an in hour my face was melting a little and I had a sweat mustache.. lol

Keep an eye out for me.. it would be great to meet you. We'll be at Dreams 10/25-11/1
  5. Octavio from MexSun did it with a flat iron and bobby pins...took him a whole 15 minutes and a quarter can of hairspray.. I loved how it turned out but if I do decide to wear it the same way for the wedding, I'd like it softer on the top/front part..
  6. Matt and I met with Tomas Barron on June 10th. He took us to Santa Maria beach in Cabo. He's been very busy with weddings but just emailed me a few photos. So far there are a few I really like, but the photos were very posed. We didn't really know what to do at first. For our wedding day, I'm going to ask for more natural shots. Matt has never kissed my shoulder and we were dying laughing. It did make for a fun time... note to other brides, do not have your makeup/hair trial right before engagement photos.. I don't normally wear my hair like this and I def do not wear this much makeup... adjustments will be made for our wedding day. Talk about uncomfortable! lol

  8. Matt is going to wear a kahki suit to the wedding. Because there are so many variations in color, I ordered two and will be sending one back. We visited a local Jos. A Bank store in Simi Valley. My FI is on the smaller side so their selection in store wasn't that great. There was however the most helpful gentleman that worked there, Ru Mojadidi. He's been in the suit business for about 20 years and could tell you anything and everything. He warned us that the online service was notorious for sending the same size pant as the jacket your ordered so if you order a 38 Jacket, you'll receive a 38 pant..lol Matt is not a cylinder so I called after placing my order to confirm it would be correct. FYI: pant is normally 6 numbers smaller than jacket (38 jacket/32 pants) and the best way to measure for a jacket is to try it on... The company has a very good return policy and free shipping on orders over $175. They also have very good sales from time to time. Several of their suits are around $100.. Online customer service.. not so good. They ship 2-day free. I ordered the suits on a Thursday and Tuesday when they didn't arrive, I called and my order was still waiting for cc authorization. 5 minutes later it was approved but annoying that I had to call. The customer rep said she would have them overnighted at no additional cost, guess what, I got them in two days... lol http://www.josbank.com Here are the two suits we ordered: Stays Cool 2-Button Wool Suit- Stone- $299 We saw this suit in store. It was labeled as "Tan" but was quite green. We decided to order online in Stone. Matt liked the "Tan" but I wanted something lighter. We're planning on semi-matching the pant colors to the groomsmen pants. The images in their catalog looked nothing like the suit in person. It should have been labeled olive, but looked great in the photo. This suit is 100% wool and was very well made. It does have a slight pattern due to the weave of the fabric, but I don't think it will show in photos. Here is the 2nd suit we ordered Executive 2-Button Poplin Suit- Tan- $99 (I think I paid $150 but it's lower today)- It very much reminded me of the Target suit, which I actually liked the color of but wasn't made very well.. we wanted something he would wear again. It is a cotton/polyester blend and while it feels light, unless it's 100% natural fibers, it won't breath very well. aka groom who sweats buckets! Comparison of two I prefer the color of the less expensive suit, but Matt really liked the first one and I'm picking my battles...lol basically he said if he had to choose one to wear again after the wedding it would be the first one. This coming from a guy who only wears suits to weddings and funerals so I'm not about to make him wear anything he doesn't feel comfortable in. Just wanted to share my experience. I love shopping online, but sometimes colors are tricky. Now on to the groomsmen!
  9. At Dreams Resort in Cabo there are no bracelets.. no having to get up early to make dinner reservations, etc.. they just ask your room number for everything and to get seated never took more than 5 minutes.
  10. I got a new ring yesterday! Matt and I looked at engagement rings a few months before he asked. I knew I wanted a princess cut but wanted to make things easier on him so I told him a solitare would be great. He confided he was pretty overwhelmed at the jewelry store with all the choices. He did alot of research (unknown to me) and picked out a beautiful diamond with a great but plain band. We recently started looking for his wedding band. Of course my eyes were drawn to the sparkly section. lol I found one that I loved and he got it for me!! He said it actually shows off the diamond he picked even more so he loves it too. old- I'm going to have an aquamarine or blue topaz set for my something blue. new
  11. We brought two totes full of items (that were majorly damaged by the airline) we had a green light but we were still stopped and asked what was in them. They opened to inspect briefly but I explained they were items for our wedding.. no problems. The declaring of items is for the way back. They also want to make sure you aren't bringing in items to sell.. so make sure you say they aren't for resale. If you ship, packages should also be marked as such. I wouldn't risk shipping.
  12. Reception is Oceana Terrace also. The bags are tiny... 4xeight.. funny the ebay listing said lunch sacks.. I want to know who's packing their lunch in these things! I have 100 bags, I'll just need to buy some more white votives. I think I will try to decorative edge on top too.. I could probably snip in one pass! lol
  13. I just got to the one where two people jumped in the pool.. wholly cow!! I thought people's fountain pictures were funny, but the pool is a whole different level.
  14. Great photos! Everything looks so beautiful. Where did you end up getting your husband's suit? The color is perfect!
  15. Ever see those shows where they x-ray people and there's all kinds of stuff left in them?... gross! Glad you figured it out.. how horrible to be sick and not know what's going on. I remember your previous posts. The worse part is not knowing because of course you imagine the worst, especially with fainting and being dizzy. Get better soon! I would let him know how sick you were, it could be important. Especially if you're taking homiopathic (sp?) drugs which may interfere with what he gave you.
  16. Quote: Originally Posted by CaboDate I have a question too.. How early are you ordering the items for your bags? No need to freak out, but my wedding is a week after yours and I'm almost done with my bags...lol just kiddding don't worry I still need to find invites, have my dress altered, find Matt's suit and about a zillion other things! Because our resort was booking up fast for October, I "bugged" all my guests that were thinking about coming into booking.. I used The Knot to keep track of my guest list and even though I don't have formal invites, I pretty much know who is and isn't coming. I then bought 5 or 6 bags over what I think I may need.. If we have extras we're going to give them to friends from WI who weren't able to join us next summer when we go for an informal picture viewing. If you're ordering things like custom printed items (koozies, etc) I wouldn't wait too long. They don't take a long time, but you don't want to be biting your nails wondering if what you paid for is going to show up before you leave. You'll also want some sort of idea of how much stuff you're going to have to bring so you can "borrow" space in friends/family's bags if necessary. It's a good idea to flag items you're interested either in a word doc or I created a folder structure on my desktop.. then when things go on sale you can purchase or put together a semi-final list of what you'd like to include..that way you aren't overbuying or getting junk that you regret later.
  17. Our family members used Tammy to book our stays. Besides having her own business, she also works with Vacationsforless.com. They usually have pretty good deals. We booked our own flights and most of the friends either booked their trip via Hotwire.com, orbitz.com, or another discount website. Farecompare.com is a great site to see how much flights are if planning on booking directly through airline. My only concern is booking early enough. Recently our wedding weekend (Oct 28th) was sold out (Thurs/Friday) and it's only June!.. so if your guests aren't early planners, you'll want to look into a room block. Tammy can help you with that. She has such a great relationship with the coordinators at Dreams.
  18. Check with your airline..can you pay for additional bags? I would check with family first, but that may be an option.
  19. WOW! You guys look great. Leigh you really captured their special day so perfectly. What a beautiful location too..
  20. I tried using this site because I loved some of the designs, but they didn't print out clear.. anyone else finding the images aren't high resolution?
  21. How the heck did I miss this post! Ah! Tammy, you look sooo great. I'm send Maye and email right now to "borrow" your bouquet. Mind sharing how much it was? I'm so happy for you and Cain. It looks like everything turned out great despite a few hiccups. Hope you're enjoying married life!

You can also check with your airline on the cost to check additional bags. Going over the weight limit can get pricey too so weigh your bags before going. Our bridesmaids have all said they'll leave room for us because they're only bring one checked bag.
  23. Oh Awesome! The photo actually makes them look larger than they are. I don't think I'm going to put anything on them.. just white bags. I have a lot of other DIY projects I want to tackle so if I do something this will be last... I figured if they're on the ground so most people will notice the light and think they're pretty .. besides our initals aren't that great so we're staying away from Monogram stuf... ADM (reads Adam)
