  1. I'm wearing flip flops (my FI is shorter than me). I might even dig a little hole in the sand for me to stand in.. j/k!!! The sand at Dreams Cabo was very rough, like large pebbles, not what you would normally think of sand. I found it painful at times to walk on it barefoot.. that and if your ceremony is early, it could be hot! I do have the pretty shoes to wear later, but not sure if I will or not.
  2. I don't have a contract with any of my vendors.. even with Maye it's just a pricing sheet. I'm curious about the other girls.
  3. I wasn't able to take my mom because she' in another state, but I emailed her a few pictures when I was trying to narrow my choices down.. She made a comment about my back looking really fat (uh, sample dress/corset back= back fat!). Nice!! At least she said you looked nice.. lol Actually I thought I would have that crying moment myself and it never came. I love my dress alot and even more since my first fitting, but no crying moment. Just a big smile on my face!
  4. Hi Girls, Wanted to show you the final product.. it took me 3 hours if you can believe that!! I bought additional colors after seeing the Lt. Saphire and Aqua together. The Saphire was a much darker blue so I ended up not using them. I used 1 pkg of 16ss Aqua 1 pkg of 12ss Golden Shadow 1 pkg of 16ss Crystal Clear 1 pkg of 122ss Aqua AB I still have a ton of crystals left so I'll need to think of more projects. I absolutely LOVE the final product!!! The pictures don't do it justice. I added crystals to the back of my bridesmaid's havaianas. I was going to do the straps, but now I understand why they charge so much for those!!
  5. I found M-Pix to be a bit of a pain.. I wish they'd make it a little easier to swap photos and their type options aren't that great. You can't change size/font of text within the same caption. No special effects on type and the only effects for photos was b/w, cepia, or fade. BUT, I'm almost done and the price is right. We're using it for our guestbook. I do need to email them about the white border though because if I remember right, Melissa had a problem with that and I want the photos to bleed off the page. I'll post photos when I get it back.
  6. I just finished my Mpix design last night (on a Mac). All I did was drag a photo to the background and it asked if I wanted it to be on a single page or double spread...
  7. My entire life people called me Angie or Ang. Just after I met Matt, I went through a phase and wanted everyone to call me Angela. Well, all the new people I've met call me Angela, everyone else Angie. My point: no matter how hard you try, people who new you as Jackie, won't start calling you Jacquelyn but at least when you address people formally, it will sound beautiful! I like your full name! Oh, side note. My girlfriend Sheri was engaged to a man who's last name was Sherry.... Sheri Sherry!!! That's much worse! lol
  8. The beach towels are a GREAT idea, but too bulky. When we went for our site visit, we realized how much stuff we were bringing.. We were lucky enough to go early and bring two totes and a large duffle bag, but still have a ton of stuff between pashminas and flip flops we're going to have sooo much stuff. I love that your mom has a machine. Hoodies and stuff are soo expensive to have done.. I bet she can do all that for you. (If that's your thing)
  9. I guess my question is.. do most photographers just ask for a flat amount for travel or is it subject to change when they book? I wasn't sure if food/drinks were included but sounds like yes. (no problem because we're at Dreams) I wasn't sure what the norm was.. they book their own travel, right?
  10. I understand if you book a photographer from the states for your destination wedding, is it customary to not only pay for flight/room, but food and drinks also? Just wondering because with Dreams you're paying for the whole thing in the price.

I can't say enough about the compliments we've gotten. They won't send back the RSVP card, but they'll call to tell me how much they liked the invites.. Matt's step-mom took them to the salon and a friend of the family took them to work to show her friends.. It was great hearing the feedback (especially looking back at the money we spent!)
  12. I spent way more than I ever thought I would, but I LOVE my invites... I sent out 50 and kept one for myself (includes $30 sample): $509 Postage ($1.81 each, yikes!): $90.50 Total damage: $600
  13. I think it's a great idea! You could decorate the package really cute. I would probably include a little card also with the date/info. I'm finding that people are lame.. sorry but they are. If they can't even drop a postcard in the mail that already has a stamp on it, they may not write down the important info like which date to save. How many of them are you sending? You could actually add music files to the dvd too and make it a keepsake for people..
  14. Thank you girls (& Juan) for the photos.. Here's what I came up with. I ordered the free 100 postcards and just paid for shipping. I also purchased resealable 5x7 plastic bags to put them into and a note about sending us one once they return from Mexico. These photos don't do them justice.. they're just like the postcards at the gift shop at Dreams that they were asking $1 each for! FYI: The postcards at the airport are cheaper than at Dreams, but still pretty expensive.
  15. I painted mine blue last night. I need another coat because you can see the brush marks. I realized when I was done, it says on the back to sand slightly before painting for best results.. duh.. anyhow, I have these clear crystal things from a flower arrangement, I was thinking about gluing them on top to make them sparkly, but to be honest if our bags are too full when packed, these are the first to be left out.
  16. I had a few rum and cokes last night and I ordered it.. uh oh, I already have a dress! lol I think I'll try to wear this for the court house ceremony... I can always take it back to Nordstrom's.
  17. We aren't doing name tags.. our group is around 40.. I figure they have all weekend to mingle, hang out by the pool and find out about each other. I wouldn't worry about it, unless it's something you really want to do.

  19. I have a co-worker that's getting married there in November.. unfortunately she's out of our NY office and we haven't talked much about plans. She's very excited though.. I love wedding pictures regardless of where they happen AND alot of these great ideas will work anywhere too.
  20. We do have insurance. I guess I'll wait until it's loose again, then have them replace the head. (I tap on the sucker all the time to make sure it isn't loose!) Maybe there's something wrong with the little screw under the ring? I'm assuming that's what keeps the prongs tight. Just was wondering if it was because it's white gold. I know tons of people had gold before platinum became so popular! Jared's just isn't all that close so it's been a pain getting out there to have it checked (and I didn't buy their service plan), but they've been great so far!
  21. We only invited our wedding party and Matt's family (they live here in CA) for our engagement party. I felt guilty about the party... didn't want FMIL to spend allot of money and def. didn't want presents! We ended up eating Costco food (meat platter/veggies) and played poker. It was allot of fun but def. low key. Do you have friends or family close to the person hosting the party? I always felt you shouldn't invite people that won't be invited to the wedding, but I guess with a destination wedding, anything goes. Maybe you could suggest them taking you to a nice dinner to celebrate instead?
  22. While looking for a ring for Matt, I found my dream ring. My wonderful fiance bought me the new set, that was at the end of June. Since then, my main stone has been loose twice. Once in July, and once a week or so ago. It's a white gold ring with a white gold setting. The jewelry store asked if I wanted to replace the head and even suggested going with platinum (for an additional cost of course!)... Shouldn't a white gold setting be fine? I know platinum is a stronger metal, but I don't want the prongs and the rest of the ring to look different as it ages. Given it's track record, I have a feeling it's going to loosen up again. Not sure what I should do? The center diamond does sit high and I'm a bit of a klutz so it does hit stuff every now and again. Could it be a faulty head that just doesn't stay tight?
