  1. We didn't do a room block or flight packages.. we only had 40 guests (invited 95) and before I even sent out the STDs many had booked using online booking agents (expedia/hotwire/etc) so it didn't make sense for us.
  2. Well unfortunately I can see why they're slow to respond.. your wedding isn't until August and they have many weddings to deal with between now and then. It was the same way with Dreams Cabo.. at least at first. They tend to respond more a few months out. Also paring down the menu really makes sense for you and your guests. If you let people order from a standard menu it will take FOREVER to get all your guests orders in (especially with people moving around) and then for the kitchen to be able to serve everyone at the same time would be almost impossible. You'll be able to pick a few favorites and your guests will never think anything of it. Many of us were frustrated at the lack of response at the start of our planning. If you loved the resort and you found reviews favorable I would stick with your initial gut feeling and book your date.. there will always be little frustrations but overall it's all about your attitude that guests will respond to.
  3. Another great idea would be to put the shells in a jar for the couple. I know a few girls had a marker for guests to write their well wishes.
  4. GET THE VEIL! If money were no object you would have gotten it in the first place and the fact that you've searched and searched and still couldn't find something that completely compares I think you should accept her generous gift. You'll feel like a million bucks and she'll be glad knowing she helped make your outfit so special for you!

  6. It does depend on your guests.. ours were big drinkers. It's def better if you get the majority of your guests to stay at one spot.. the day pass per person at Dreams can get to be very expensive if you decide to pay for it. FYI.. some of your guests are going to balk at any prices you give them. Just find a place that you love (that's within your budget of course) and go with it.. You have to be ready for crabby people with any destination wedding.. have it somewhere that you and your FI love. Others will love it based on your enthusiasm.. otherwise they can stay home..
  7. Got it.. we went with the non-upgrade food. That makes sense.
  8. We choose Dreams Cabo after staying there in 2005. We found an all inclusive easier on our guests (they know the exact cost going into the trip) and it was very easy on our pocket books too.. we had a great experience as did others. (check out the reviews section and I have a link on my siggy.)
  9. Oh man.. it's so sad.. the other day a kid at a middle school near us was shot in the head by another 8th grader.. what is wrong with people?

But what I'm looking for is a coffee style album, so will it cost me tomas's regular price, and if so is it worth just hiring someone else, or will i get a discount if i use tomas barrone as our photographer and order the album thru him? Tomas Barron's rates are extremely reasonable. I don't recall him offering albums when we looked into using him. We ended up canceling our contract for the wedding but he did shoot our engagement photos.. Just make sure you like his style. You can also search "Barron" and you'll find several posts. If you don't like his work, there are many other talented photographers in Cabo. We flew in a photographer. I never heard of immigration/customs coming to someone's wedding.. why would they? They can tell someone is a photographer at the airport by seeing their equipment.
  11. Can you post a picture of your dress? We might be able to find an alternative that looks very close to your original choice... although let's wait until next week. Believe me.. you have "bride-power" here and we'll help you get through pretty much anything. Fingers are crossed that you hear good news.
  12. What about your shells and lights/palm on the outside and submerge your flower inside. We submerged our orchids (fake) and it looked awesome. You'd have to mock it up with light though but I bet it would pretty.. It makes the flower look really big.
  13. I thought the going rate at Dreams Cabo is $25/per person per event (not sure about kids).. maybe it's different if you pay for the package and then above the 20 people but I don't see why it would be more expensive than the non-package rate.
  14. Where do you have your photo hosted? Lots of girls use Photobucket and they choose to resize it smaller before copying the URL into their siggy.. there's probably more tech saavy info under the test your siggy area.
  15. Thanks Kash. I looked into the area originally. We live really close so that would have been perfect .. I always wanted to get married at a vineyard under a large oak tree and have my reception in a wine cellar, but when I saw the prices (that doesn't include anything but location) I thought.. oh, the beach would be nice. lol
  16. Air conditioning darling.. I wore it while getting ready... It's good because you don't want to pull anything over your head after hair and makeup are done.
  17. Fonts tend to corrupt easily.. Here's what I do to test a file.. start deleting items and try to print.. or will it not even let you open the corrupted file? Turn off the fonts before trying to open.. Do you have AOL by any chance? AOL is the worst for corrupting files when it goes through it's server because it tries to compress files.
  18. Steph.. your book turned out great. Do you recommend Blurb.com? I can't wait to see the pics of your FI seeing it for the first time. Those pics are soo great!

  20. Yay! They turned out perfect!!! You'll be hearing more feedback I'm sure.. I had one mother take it to work to show her friends.. lol Congrats on being able to mark "invitations" off your list! I highly recommend Brittany at Eiffel Design.
  21. I would ask to see samples of his/their work. That's the only way to tell if you'll like it or not. Our video was 40 minutes and broken out on the DVD (3 copies) into chapters (ceremony, fire dancers, first dance, dancing, etc). We booked our videographer for 2 hours but they ended up staying way past that. We asked if we could split up the time since the actual ceremony is pretty short. That way we were able to capture the cake cutting and reception too... See our review for Jose Ibarra's info and sample of his work. That might help when comparing. Tomas did our engagement photos. He's a very hard worker. We ended up switching photographers for the wedding day and therefore also cancelled his video package, but his pricing was very good. I think you probably get what you pay for.
