  1. Thanks Melissa! What we do without you! So, just to double check -- do you recommend we do it all when we get there? I.e. once we've figured out what the best spot is, just get maps, circle and photocopy, and put them in the welcome packet? And, do you think they'll put the welcome packet in the rooms for us? And, how did you get them to agree to reserve a section for you? She keeps telling us absolutely not! I guess we can ask again when we get there.... Melissa, it's getting really close!!! What else do I need to do?
  2. Melissa (our guru! What would we do without you!), how big are the different sections of the resort? I have 80 guests! Can't believe it, most of them are staying at the Barcelo Tropical, but they're all arriving at different times during the week. I'm making up the welcome letters, and I'm wondering how they will all find each other and me... What do you think? For the rehearsal dinner I will just say, we'll be at the buffet at the Tropical from 6 (she won't reserve space for us... but we're just going to try to make it work!) And for folks arriving on different days, is it reasonable to say, we'll be at the barcelo Tropical beach area? Or something like that? i have never been there, and have no idea! Thanks for any advice, I mean, how will our guests even find our wedding??
  3. Yes, I'm going for most everything the Barcelo has (like flowers, food, set up, decorations etc), EXCEPT for the photographer. Photography was really important to me, so I"ve hired Elizabeth Medina, who's portfolio I think is incredible! Mexico Wedding Photography, Yucatan, Mexico, Elizabeth Medina photographer I have to pay for her and her assistant to stay at the hotel for one night, but that's worth it for me.
  4. Sadly, I think Jen did abandon it... I picked the Barcelo finally... and all I can say is... with 2 months to go, once I decided, I just didn't look back... and I'm excited. There can't be issues, and the wedding helpers at the Barcelo are SUPER helpful and responsive.
  5. All of my guests are staying at the Colonial, but only for 1 night or so because it was too expensive for most of them... Melissa, how did you organize the 'meeting here for a drink', 'dinner on the caribe side' etc...? Did you plan it out all in advance and leave an itinerary? Or how did you get in touch with everyone to make sure they knew the plans? Also, for the OOT Bags, did they distribute them to all the rooms, or did you have to find out where everyone was staying and do ti yourself?
  6. That's fabulous Leticia! I'm so glad that you booked. And thank you for those photos, I've only got 2 and a half months to go, and the photos are awesome, and get me even more excited!
  7. I think we could probably get a banquet hall, but I really wanted it to be integrated with the beautiful setting, rather than just inside. I'll ask her about the pool... Good idea Melissa!
  8. Hi Ladies, As for timing, it obviously depends on the time of year you are getting married, so I'd look at the sunset calendar for your wedding day. On my wedding day, the sun is supposed to set at about 5.20, so we're going for a 4 O clock wedding. But guys, I need your help! I was so excited, i thought I had everything set, and then last night she told me that the restaurant we were using for our reception was only going to have a roped off area for our reception, rather than being completely private... that sucks! And we have 80 people, so it' snot because we're a small group. Melissa, where was your reception, cos I know yours was completely private. Was it open air to the beautiful beach, or inside? Do you know of anyone that did the under the stars and had the private reception on the beach? I could do that but was concerned that it could be windy or sandy on the beach all night... What do you guys thinK I"m so disappointed, the buffet restaurant that is open air was the perfect location!!! But I really want it to be a private reception...
  9. Melissa! I have totally disappeared because I have a new job that I love except for the fact htat I work about 80 hours a week. But, I still get the forum emails, and I saw this one pop up and so had to check!!!! Ana is super responsive, don't you find Leticia? She's been so helpful to me, we chat every week. How's your wedding shaping up Leticia? I'm doing mine at the colonial, mostly because I'm copying Melissa.
  10. Fabulous, another one at the Barcelo maya! I am having a photographer of my choice, and I just had to book her one nights accomodation. I'm so excited, only just over 3 months to go!
  11. You girls are the best --- I have the most disastrous hair... just boring, long, straight and flat. I really want it up as well, faux natural and loose but really tight... you know, one of those things that is actually impossible to achieve. Keep posting pictures. My new job is a nightmare and I work 15 hour days and never have time for anything (hence the lack of posting), and so I rely on you guys EVEN MORE now.
  12. The model above. The dress detail (the dress is on me in this photo) The dress on me -- but a really bad photo, it looks much better in person, and I am NOT having a full length veil, though I did buy a veil on whim while there! I wasn't even having a veil a thought, but I just bought a simple, shorter, ivory veil with piping. I just like it because it is very weddingy, while also being cool and floaty for the beach. This is the shorter length veil by the way. I'm bummed the pictures didn't turn out better! but honestly, it didn't look that much worse on me than on the model!
  13. That's absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations! You look incredible. I love the veil too.
  14. Those are truly fantastic! Worth all the time.
  15. Thanks so much for this Tammy! So, i uploaded my pics to photobucket instead, to the main acount, but how do I get them to show in the thread now?
  16. I'm in the UK too! Welcome and congrats... And Leigh.. don't forget your boudoir photo shoot when you're in London!!!!
  17. I'm so glad you started this thread, and so glad to see others aren't registering either!!! We did not register, don't want to register, and our website says no gifts, we just want you to come to Mexico! I agree, an AHR is a different thing, but we're not having one of those, and still, lots of people are telling us we really have to register...
  18. hmmm, I'm really stressed about being hot, so I'm hoping for cups sown in, and then just nice light panties. By the way, i have a nu-bra, and it's great, but something to be aware of, sometimes when you get sweaty, it stops sticking to you!!!
  19. AT least you have your dress! even if not altered... I'm super behind, but have a few extra months at least... will order the fans when they're back in stock!
  20. Oh my goodness! TammyB!!! I totally thought we had a new Tammy on the forum before I opened it and saw your sig!!!!! Wow, you have a new name! Wow you're married!!!! Okay, onto your question, it shouldn't be entitled stupid question! Because it's something that I never thouught about, and this is really useful!
  21. Oh, and it's a size 7 at the moment, but since the diamonds DO NOT go all the way around, you could easily get it sized.
  22. Wow, you guys are good, found all the pics! Cool. Sorry, was at work til late. So, it is white gold, 14K. And I'm still looking for the diamond weight and carats, but promise I'll post it here when I get it. And I prefer a plain one too! That's why I am not keeping it. But it is very pretty.
  23. I remember the 06 brides advising 1 to 1.5 hours before sunset but I just spent half an hour looking for the thread and I can't find it! So, we'll have to rediscuss! I'm getting married in February, so the sun set says 5.48, but I don't know if that's absolute sunset or what?? So, I should plan my ceremony at about 4, right? But if my ceremony is from 4 to 4.30, and my reception is at 6 or 7, what do you do in between? A couple of hours of cocktail?
