  1. LondonSam! Another person from London, yay! This forum really is expanding, although I'm very american too, and most of my guests are from the US, I will have about 20 guests from the UK too! As for rings, you can get rings like that in the UK!! I've been looking because as many of you know, I don't like my rings very much, I posted them here earlier... this is the ring that I want though. Maybe, like someone else was saying earlier, I should just suck it up and get the ring I want... For those of you that haven't seen, this is the ring I have:
  2. Tammy, or anyone, do you know what the differences are between the 5 Iberostars in the Mayan Riviera? Is there a big difference, do you have to carefully consider which of the 5 you are talking about?
  3. Oh, so that does sound like there are some options for outside reception... good to know. I might look at iberostar as well. Do you know which one your sister stayed in? I think I will probably have more than 40 guests... This is SOOO hard! Anny, while in Cancun, visit all the hotels and write your own destination wedding guide, okay
  4. For private receptions, that seems to be the case. But I emailed her again to get more details about what exactly the indoor set up is, is it in a room in a hotel, or is it on a terrace or something at least. I think that if she comes back and says it's at least an open terrace or something, I will go with Grand Palladium. But assuming she doesnt (which her original comment suggests), then I don't know where to look next... Nothing has all the aspects I want...
  5. Oh, thanks, what was it like, did you like it?? Did you see any weddings there...
  6. Yes, I can't always find the hotels on the maps, similar to this, does anyone know approximate distance to Grand Palladium Kantenah and Gran Bahia Principe Akumal, and Azul Beach Hotel? Thanks.
  7. Some great ideas on that site, thank you!! I specially like the idea of the personalized playing cards!! Great for people to have in the OOT bags to play with through the holiday!
  8. Yes, all excellent reasons... And i know, I can't wait to see Lenita's pictures!! Thanks for sharing your logic and thoughts.
  9. Thanks Jackie, I really like the idea of the Grand Palladium, but they only do indoor receptions, and what's the fun in that? But, not everything is going to be perfect, so I just have to pick. I will explore Grand Bahia some more, thank you!
  10. Okay, interesting... good to keep in mind, I guess I should just enquire at a few to find out their options if that is really important to me. Thanks ladies!
  11. Yes, I think it's gorgeous too! I would definitely be considering it if the beach wasn't really important to me... So now, I'm considering the Grand Palladium... hmmmm, one day, maybe I'll make a decision, but my fiance has given up on me.
  12. Ah, that explains why I've seen no pictures... Thanks! My fiance and mum don't like the idea because of how big the hotel is, but it gets such rave reviews, that I gather people don't mind that...
  13. I was hoping for a private dinner and reception at my all inclusive resort in Mayan Riviera, but so far, the couple I have looked at only offer private spaces until 11pm. Is that normal? I was invisioning dancing and having fun til later than that! Are those of you who are booked (or married!) having receptions that ended at 11? Or were you given later options for your private reception? Thanks!
  14. Gosh that sounds terrible, and totally put her off mexico! But the pictures were beautiful, so some things went right... But I guess it must just be bad luck because Tammy got married there a week later or whatever, and didn't have any of that bad luck, and used Maye and stuff... so I guess you just have to not worry about it, some things will go wrong.... Thanks for sharing though Tammy.
  15. I know, I'm starting to give up hope that I will EVER pick a location, my fiance has given up, and won't even talk to me about it anymore!!! Oh no oh no, I'm too indecisive, and I've been researching too much too. I'm just going round in circles... I've written my pros and cons list, I should just blindly pick.... and go with it.
  16. Yeah, I'm sure that will happen to us too... Plus, I was just instant messaging with a friend of mine, and she was pointing out that most people end up paying for flights/hotels to go to weddings in the states anyway, like she lives in San Fran, and even friends getting married nearby in the wine country require a hotel you know?
  17. Unlike almost everyone on here, I am considering paying for some or all of my guests... I just feel so bad that I am asking them to pay so much to attend my wedding. It will depend on how the budget comes along... we'll see. But we have about 15000 dollars, so if I can keep the budget under that, I can use the extra to pay for the guests rooms. I'm not announcing it though for a while, until I get closer and make sure my budget can cover it. Since I'm never going to pick a place anyway, it doesn't matter...
  18. I know you are booked there and have not been there before Jason! We emailed about it, and you sent me tonnes of great info. I agree it looks fabulous! I was actually asking Lryates, our second dreams tulum wedding! Have you been there before? Tammy, do you have any clients heading there any time soon?
  19. I'm an idiot sorry, it's like at work when you write a long message about the fab attachment and forget to attach! Here's the link: Riviera Maya weddings - Wedding planners and wedding coordinators organize beach ceremonies and packages in Riviera Maya
  20. I found this site and am finding it useful. It has all the different areas (link attached is for Maya riviera), and compares all the resorts with their amenities, wedding packages, and such like that. As Ann says, it's nice to have all the info listed in one place for comparison, so thought I'd post it in case you guys find it useful too! Okay, I HAVE to pick a place before I drive myself and my fiance, and all my friends completely nuts!!!!
  21. Yes, please, make him go! and give us info. I know there are lots of people 'considering' it, but I can't find anyone that actually stayed there... anyone anyone?? Otherwise, It's going to be all up to you Jason to tell us everything!!! Am I also correct in thinking that Jason is the only one actually booked with a wedding here? Thanks Ladies (and gents... )
  22. Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful!! I think Dreams Tulum is on my shortlist... gotta make a decision! Has anyone actually stayed there before? I've read such terrible reviews... but I"m hoping that they are just because it is new and things will settle down?
  23. Thank you Melissa, this is really helpful, it basically confirms my feelings about the resort -- it is a gorgeous resort, but not super helpful for weddings. I feel like if I choose Riu Palace, it will be a fabulous holiday for my friends and family coming because it is a gorgeous resort, BUT, it will be stressful for me trying to plan a wedding there, with little response, and little organization. I was trying to convince myself that this wouldn't be a problem, but I think it will be, and I think I should take that seriously. Thank you so much!
