Rachel on sunday people were getting wasted at like 2PM. Probably b/c the bars close so darn early! Also, I think our friend said that there is a power hour where everyone goes crazy and starts drinking as much as possible b/c they know the bar is going to close soon. LOL.

That walk in closet is amazing! I am so jealous! My favorite room is our bedroom. We have the best bed ever from the W hotel store (thanks to Alyssa!). It is so comfy and fluffy. I also have 800 thread count sheets from Bloomies. Also amazing! We have a flat screen TV that comes with a built in DVD player. I love snuggling in the bed and watching movies for hours. We have his and her closets which is sooooo nice. I don't have any pics but as soon as I take some I will post.

Glad you had a good time and you will be getting a reply from my husband (aka Mr. Yankees) in 3....2.....1.... (lol) I was lost on the streets. I had no clue what the heck was going on. Frankly I didn't care, I was just like direct me to the nearest bar! LOL.

So this weekend I went to Boston to visit my FI's best friend and wife. It was completely last minute but it was nice to get away for the weekend. So I figured I would write a little review of my limited experience from a New York gal's perspective. Keep in mind that I have never been to Boston and my stay was very short. You know how everytime you go visit a city or a country you have that one thing you want to see? Well my big thing about Boston was that I wanted to hear a Boston accent in person. I have never met anyone with a Boston accent so I wanted to hear one really badly. I wanted to see if people really had accents like they do in the movies. (Yes I realize that this is super ignorant of me, but at least I'm being honest) Unfortunately I could not find one person with an accent! My friends told me that the Boston accent I see in movies is greatly exaggerated just the way the NY "brooklyn mobster" accent is always exaggerated. I was truly very sad about that. LOl. Some things I observed: 1. The bars close at 1AM. Last call is at 12:30. Ummm yeah this is not acceptable. Most NYers don't even get to the bar till 12AM. I guess you just learn to deal with it. 2. All the bathrooms in the bars had these weird trash cans. They looked like these high tech trash cans from the future or something. Actually they looked like those trash cans they have in medical offices to dispose of hazardous material. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to open it to throw trash in it. It even had this manual of instructions! 3. I noticed in this one bar they had a sign in the girl's bathroom that said something to the effect of "If you feel threatened or in imminent danger, please contact bar personnel". Ummm yeah scary. Then some girl told me there was a rapist running lose. Awesome! I think if NY had these signs they would say "If you feel threatened or in imminent danger, KICK THAT MUTHA F@CKER IN THE BALLS!" 4. Boston people really love the Red Soxs. We couldn't go a block w/o seeing someone wearing some kind of Red Soxs gear. It was offensive to my eyes obviously and there were times where hearing the Red Sox name made me want to regurgitate my insides. LOL. Also, the front page of their Sunday newspaper with the main story was about the Red Sox's beginning their training. They love their Redsox. 5. Friday night we went to some bar called Hennessey's (sp?) It was really fun, they had some 80's cover band and I found Boston people to be super nice. It seems like everyone is Boston is just enjoying life and having a good time, which was a refreshing change from the moodiness that is NY. LOL. Unfortunately FI and his best friend decided it would be a brilliant idea to chant in the middle of the street "NY Giants are awesome". Yeah that almost got us killed. LOL. 6. We went to the ever famous Mike's Pastry's which was packed! This place had a line out the door. It was insanity, but there were so many pastry's to choose from. YUMMY! 7. Boston is a really cute city! It kind of reminds me of Europe. There were little cobblestone areas on the street and all these shops in the Italian area. It was super cute. 8. I went to this one place on Sunday (I can't remember the name Ned something or other) that was a bar and restaurant. I had beer battered chicken tenders. They were the most amazing things ever! Boston has a lot of good food, except that they can't make a pizza to save their lives. Sorry to my Boston peeps, but come visit me in NY and I'll show you what a good pizza is all about! 9. Their train system shuts down at a certain time. It reminded of Washington D.C. and Paris b/c these are both cities in which the trains shut down at a certain time. Very different from NY, since trains run 24/7. 10. I learned from our friends that Boston doesn't have diners! Well not that they don't have diners but that there is really nowhere to go eat after drinking at a bar all night except for McDonald's or something like that. NY thrives on 24 hour diners where you get cheese fries, a.k.a Irish Nachos, a.k.a. Disco fries. Boston people must be really skinny b/c us fat boys over here in NY like to eat 24/7. 11. I found girls to be really friendly and nice. You know how you go out to a bar or a club and girls are usually eyeing each other, giving themselves dirty looks? Well Boston girls weren't like this. They were sincerely nice people. And girls don't get decked out to go to the bars. People wear casual clothes, which I absolutely loved! In NY its like a fashion show and people wear the craziest outfits. 12. The female bartenders were very covered up. What I mean by that is that they wear regular shirts and pants. The female bartenders in NY dress like skanks. They always have skimpy outfits. Sex sells what can I tell you? LOL. I think that's it. All in all, I would say that Boston is a very fun city and you should def visit it if you get a chance. Just make sure to leave your Yankee hat at home!

I think Kate has a baby and that is why she has her life together. I think the person in the coffin is Michael b/c the man at the funeral home references a teenage son, who could possibly be Walt. Kate wouldn't go to the funeral b/c Michael betrayed them to get off the island. I think Sayid is working for Ben b/c he feels guilty about leaving people behind on the island. I think Ben is coercing him the same way he did with Juliette, into doing what he wants in exchange for the promise that he'll let his friends off the island. SPOILER ALERT: The Oceanic 6 are: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Jim & Sun.

I know who the Oceanic 6 are...

Dreams Cabo Ultimate Package

Yes you can have the reception for up to 20 people and then anyone over that is $40 per person and kids are $20. I believe this is the current rate but you would have to check with the WC at Dreams. I was reading an old post today all about bringing your IPOD for a reception. Would I be able to do this with the Ultimate package and have dancing after dinner or is there additional charges for this? For some reason it seems like different people get quoted different prices. I would do a search on the forum and use the most recent price quote you can find. Then I would contact the WC at Dreams and see what quote they give you. Tell them your a member of this forum and that you were hoping they would honor the same price for everyone. Also, what were people charged for the colored linens and bows for the chairs? I know that prices will change by June 09, but just a rough idea anyhow would be nice. I think they were like $1 back in 2007 but they will probably be more now. Again I would contact the WC at Dreams to get an accurate price quote. Another question. I was reading some old posts about the legal ceremony being in spanish. If I were to go to city hall in the States and get "legally married" prior to going to Cabo would the minister be able to do the ceremony in English? If you get legally married in the states then you can have your symbolic ceremony in English. If you are going to use the officiant that Dreams provides then make sure that they speak English. Or you could hire your own officiant to ensure they perform the ceremony in English. Sorry for all the questions. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks - Terri No worries about the questions, that is what we are here for! -
That is so cute! I love that joke Ann!

Hysterical! Thanks so much for the laugh! -
Jamy, like Jill, I've also heard that Bermuda beaches are stunning. With the clear water and the pinkish sand. Also, I think (but I'm not 100% sure) that the video for Boyz II Men's "Water runs dry" was filmed in the Margarita Islands. Actually now that I think of it, I don't know how true that is but I think my hair dresser told me this too. I tried to google it for accuracy but I couldn't find anything. I just remember that in the video there was clear water and white sand. Ahhhhh....
-
I've never been to this beach but my hairdresser rants and raves about the Margarita Islands off the coast of Venezuela. Apparently they have sunshine for 9 hours a day, the beaches are gorgeous, and you can buy beer fo $.50 cents each! Sounds like my kind of island!

Need help creating a wishing well
Nrvsbride replied to Nrvsbride's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Rachelle I thought of getting a baby rubber ducky or just plain bathtub. The baby ones are too small so I ruled that out. I actually like the rubber ducky one you posted but I'm scared it might be too small. Basically the well is not for cards its to throw a little "chachka" in there. So since her theme is bathroom stuff aside from bringing her a present from her registry, someone would bring a toilet scrubber for example and throw it in the well. You don't giftwrap the wishing well gifts. Someone else might throw in a pair of cleaning gloves. Someone else might throw in a bottle of cleaner. But now I'm thinking the tissue box idea might be cute. Hmmm... Thank you ladies for all your ideas, I greatly appreciate it! -
200 Weddings A Day / Many Illegal/Invalid??
Nrvsbride replied to foxytv's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Basically the articles say that a lot of people were fradulently holding themselves out to be civil officiants and they weren't. By the time people got home and tried to make their wedding valid, they realized that their marriage was never registered with the Dominican government. Yikes! I wonder what brides are supposed to do to ensure that the person marrying them is legit and not a fake. -
I'm a BM for one of my friends who is not having DW. The theme of her bridal shower is going to be toiletries (sp?). Her sister the MOH picked out really cute decorations for the centerpieces. I volunteered to make the wishing well and people will throw in bathroom related stuff in there. Instead of making the traditional well I was thinking of making a bathtub well. I want to make the well look like an actual bathtub. I know how I want to decorate it: I want to use those annoying styrofoam white thingies that they use to pack boxes as bubbles and use blue tissue paper to look like the water. However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the bathtub. I was hoping I could buy something so that it would be easier (since I'm not so crafty) but if anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. I figure one of you DIY brides can give me some ideas. Any and all input is appreciated.

OMG Donnie is so cute! I would die if James sent me flowers that sent that. I had a friend who got flowers on the one year anniversary before she got married. The flower idea is so cute. I'm jealous. LOL.

Tammy I know it must be hard to make a decision on this. (For you too Heidi). I am here for the both of you rooting you on in whatever decisions you make. Tammy have you thought of adopting in Mexico? Do you think that would sooth things over for Marty?

Honestly Tammy why is Jackson so darn cute? Everytime I see his little face in that little outfit with the ears it just makes me want to eat him to pieces. He is so adorable!
