Oh that makes sense. I didn't realize you were staying so long. Yes $2,000 sounds reasonable for that length of time. Do you have any pics of Dream? I was thinking of doing it there as well. And it seems like a lot of brides on this board are getting married/have gotten married there as well. Do you find the prices to be reasonable for the reception? Oh and Karla I would love to get any information from you about Sunset Da Mona Lisa. Thanks.
  2. Hi Fotini, Congrats on your wedding in Santorini! I am so jealous that sounds fabulous. I am also from Queens. Do you live in Astoria by any chance? I'm from Flushing and a lot of my friends are Greek and live in Astoria. I don't know how helpful I would be with planning weddings in Greece but a lot of my greek friends got married in Greece (Santorini) so I could ask them about vendors and entertainment if you need any help. Good luck with all your planning!

Edyta, $2,000 sounds like a lot!!! How did you book your travel arrangments? Did you go through a travel agent or did you do it online on your own? How long are you staying? I did a search on expedia from May 3- May 9 (6 nights 7 days) from Toronto and they had hotel + airfaire in the low $1,000. They were quoting a Dreams package for $1,200. I think if you had worked with a travel agent she could have gotten you an even better deal. Are you locked into that price? I know this is really inconvenient for your and your guest but you could fly from Toronto to NYC with Jet Blue for like $99 and then fly on any other airline to Cabo for the $700. I mean if your guest don't mind paying $2,000 then that's great but it seems pricey.
  4. I have seen starfish used as table setting holders. You punch a hole in your table cards and put nice string through it. Then you tie the whole thing onto a starfish. The starfish are layed on a table and people pick them up when they are looking for their seating. I think $5.00 is way too much. You can buy them in bulk (depending on how many guests you are having.) If you google dried starfish you will get tons of websites that sell them and have them in every color. It would all depend on what you are using them for. If you want medium sized ones they go for $1.25. Maybe it's worth it to buy in bulk here and then bring them with you. Also, I've seen this done: Beach Starfish of Love Favor: $2.29 which is a favor for $2.29 that looks like a starfish ontop of sand, wrapped with ribbon. It's really pretty but it may be pricey if you have a lot of guests. That site also has the shells that they can engrave with your names and wedding date, if you want to give them out as favors. Hope this helps.

You guys are so unbelievably nice!!! I'm a lawyer and live in New York where wedding planning is cutthroat and everyone is competitive so I'm not used to friendly people who want to help you. Thank you all so much for your input. When I started researching Cabo I saw that I could get flight + all inclusive accomodations to Dreams for like $791 a person. I didn't think that was so bad. I've been to Riviera Maya at an all inclusive before and it was close to $900 (for flight +hotel) for 3 nights and 4 days. Is it cheaper to do a wedding at RM than Cabo? Or were you just referring to the flight costs? By the way, when you guys did your travel arrangements did you have guest make their own arrangements or did you work with a travel agent? I was told about Protravel who will do all the travel arrangements and coordinate your wedding as well. I was quoted a price of $770 for everything. Do you think it is worth it?

When you guys chose your location did you just call and speak to someone and set your date or did you do a site visit first? Also, I hear all these people say that you can save so much money if you have a destination wedding. Is this true, of did you girls find that it came to about the same if you would have had it in your hometowns?

How many guests can the Dreams accomodate? The dilemma that I am having is that my fiance and I would like to have a smaller wedding (100 people or less) but our families expect us to invite the world. My father seems to think that when you have a destination wedding you can invite a lot of people b/c most of them won't come and this way no one feels offended. What do you guys think?

Thank you guys all so much for being so welcoming. I can't believe you guys are all planning weddings and still have time to help others! And to those brides who are already married, how nice of you to still help future brides out. I am pretty flexible with everying (cost, travel, etc.) The only thing I did want to figure out is when is the most cost-effective time to travel to Cabo. I know certain seasons cost more. I want to make it as affordable for my guests as possible. I have friends who honeymooned in Cabo and they ranted and raved about Sunset Da Mona Lisa, so I was thinking of having the reception there. And Dreams seems like a nice place to have the guests stay. All help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi my name is Glenda. I'm 26 and from Queens, NY. I am so nervous about wedding planning b/c I am clueless as to what needs to be done. I don't even think I'm posting properly!! I feel very overwhelmed. I want to have a wedding in Cabo sometime in 2008 but I don't even know where to start. I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
