Uggh I can't decide. I thought I wanted to do this 100% but now I kind of love the hand ceremony. -Glenda

Amy (Martin) that church is stunning! I am so jealous! I want to get married in a pretty Mexican church like that. So nice! Btw I met with my priest this weekend and we have to do two weekend retreats (in leiu of pre-canor) and the total cost will be $600. Well actually I don't think that includes the two weekend retreat costs. Can you believe how expensive it is? Arrrgh! -Glenda

WELCOME! The El Dorado Royale is just fabulous but I don't know the other one so I can't really speak for it. Good luck with the planning and let us know how we can help. -Glenda

How long did your guests stay?
Nrvsbride replied to KellyandMatt08's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am just going to let my guests stay as long as they like. I figure far be it from me to stop people from enjoying their vacation. But then again I am not honeymooning where I am staying so I guess it is different. -Glenda -
Amy this is random but related. A lot of girls put lotion on before they put their dress so they don't look dry and smell nice. If you sweat a lot I would recommend you don't do this b/c you will sweat even more and you will feel sticky. If you put baby powder all over your body (even under your armpits along with your deodorent) it will soak up any sweat that you have. Just a suggestion. -Glenda

Ok I must smoke crack or something b/c I don't understand how everyone's budgets are so low. I feel like just my photography and WC will cost $10,000. What am I doing wrong? I know some girls are paying for some of their guests like Sarah (Sassygirl) I believe is paying for her guests hotel. And other girls are paying for BM dresses. I am not a good person to offer advice on this topic b/c I am the worst at budgeting. I am just going to try save as much as possible and hope for the best. -Glenda

Bringing your ring?
Nrvsbride replied to Shelley's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Ok look how hard it was for me to get a siggy! I am a completely impaired when it comes to technology. I don't even own a digital camera! Ahhh I need to get with the program. I'm still trying to scan a Napa Valley article for Christine and that was like months ago. LOL. I am a mess when it comes to posting pics. I think I may buy a fabulous fake ring and just use that. It actually doesn't bother me at all, not to have the real ring. I'd rather it be safe at home and it will give me peace of mind. But yes I do need to insure it immediately! -Glenda -

I have a tatoo on my back (right side by the shoulder) of Chinese characters that "supposedly" (I say that b/c i can't find one person who can understand what it says) symbolizes my initials "GF" b/c they are the same initials as my sister's and it was a way of me feeling close to her forever. It is not big, and it does not have color. I didn't even do an outline, it looks exactly like thin characters. It did not hurt at all (I have no threshold for pain). It felt ticklish. But then again I did not get it in a very sensitive spot. -Glenda

Welcome! You have come to the right place for all your destination wedding planning. Maybe we can help you pick a place. What are some of the factors in choosing your locale? How many guests will you have? Do you want to do an all-inclusive? Will there be children attending? Do you want to have a religious ceremony or just have a symbolic one on the beach? Is travel time a big factor in your decision? If you give us some more information then we may be able to help you better. In the meantime, welcome and enjoy your planning. -Glenda

Bridesmaids dresses
Nrvsbride replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
That is a great deal! I wish I could find dresses for that cheap! And I do not think they are too dark, I absolutely love them. If they were a heavier material then I would say that it might be too much but b/c the material is light and breezy I think the color looks really nice. -Glenda -
A close friend of mine was in the same boat and what we ended up doing was having a "lingerie party" instead of a traditional shower. So everyone was told to bring her lingerie and spa thingies. And instead of stupid games there was food and liquor and everytime she opened a gift, the person who gave her the gift had to tell a funny story about her. It was great and so much fun! She got so much lingerie which she really needed and people had guidance and she didn't get crap she didn't like. Since everyone gave her gift receipts she was able to return anything that wasn't her taste. You are not a bad bride you are actually very nice for not wanting your guests to spend on something else. But maybe you can do a lingerie party and this way you'll get tons of cute pajamas and spa stuff. -Glenda

How to uninvite a BM
Nrvsbride replied to Nrvsbride's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I'm sorry guys but I like Sherri's idea the best! LOL. So I wanted to thank you all so much for your advice and for letting me vent. I know it seems so cut and dry about what I should do but as I said it is a long story and actually she did this to me before I even asked her to be a BM. I know I'm an idiot. I felt bad for her and I forgave her (stupid). I am a lawyer and all I do all day is fight for people's rights, blah, blah, blah. In my personal life I like to be relaxed and have fun, and I can't stand drama (unless it's on TV of course, or unless it's someone else's drama, then I love to hear all about it and talk shit). So I forgave this dumb girl and things were good between us, and I asked her to be a BM and then I found out that she did other dumb stuff. Aside from her telling her fake BF that my FI hit on her, she also put another friend's name into it, (to make it more believable, she claims) and now the friend does not talk to her. Nobody likes her anymore b/c of the shady things she does. Anyway I wrote her an e-mail and kind of mentioned that b/c James and I are no longer having a traditional wedding we think it would be too much and look stupid to have so many people in our bridal party. I told her that we will either not have a bridal party at all (lie), have only family (another lie) or that if we do have friends they will be people who have been their from the beginning of our relationship and seen us grow (eew that sounds so corny but someone gave me that idea). Then I told her that I had unasked all my BM's and that I would make a decision later on. But I left it kind of vague and went on to tell her that I hoped she understood since she was my "UNDERSTANDING" friend. She wrote back "oh my gosh of course I understand". FAKE. Then I heard that she has been e-mailing the friend whose wedding is coming up b/c she is desperately trying to get asked to be a BM. This is what I deal with in NY. FAKE, FAKE, FAKE! Anny I love your idea but she's not dumb and she would catch on. I am also having 8 BM's. Whatever she'll just have to get over it! -Glenda -

Wedding gown help
Nrvsbride replied to Nrvsbride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
It has no sleeves. Hmm I'm not sure what kind of material it is. It's def not chiffon, that much I know. I guess technically it's sort of strapless but the gown is connected at the top by a strap that runs diaganolly across the shoulder to the back of the opposite shoulder. That strap is made out of flowers. It's so hard to describe. The bottom portion is not puffy, and it is not a cake topper dress either. But it is not form fitting and tight. I know I am probably making no sense whatsoever but I really appreciate everyone's help. -Glenda -

They don't have them b/c those girls are super competitive and they don't share ideas with others! a.k.a. NYC girls. -Glenda -
Wedding gown help
Nrvsbride replied to Nrvsbride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Sorry when I was posting my boss was calling me so I had to get off and couldn't type more. Okay I think i saw the dress in Modern Bride and Bride Magazine. But it wasn't the most recent issue, it was the issue before that one. I know the gown cost $3,500 and looks similar to this one 6th one down from the top: http://www.mercierstudio.com/bio/otr.html It has flowers on the neckline coming across diagonally like this one, but the flowers were def not that poofy or big. They were much more subtle. Thank you hummingbird for directing me to the knottie sight but unfortunately it wasn't there. I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I can't even understand how it's possible considering it's fairly new. I also remember that whatever magazine I saw it in it was featured in a layout that showed sketches of dresses. And along with the model in the dress they also showed a sketch of the dress next to it. This is going to drive me crazy!! And Jilly I know what your talking about but no, this is such a distinct dress that I would def recognize it even if they had a coat or some king of shawl on it. I have to find this dress! Thank you for your help ladies. -Glenda
