Changing for Reception
Nrvsbride replied to BayBug's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Well after seeing Natasha's waist I just wanted to let you all know that I am retiring from this forum. My time will now be consumed with a pro-anorexia website. I will post pics of my Mary-kate Olsen emaciated body when I am done starving myself. I hope to look like a clothes hanger in my wedding dress. -Glenda -
Ok it snowed here again last night. Slush and ice everywhere! Uggh. I hate, hate, absolutely hate cold weather unless I am going on a fun trip to Vermont or Colorado or something like that. I cannot stand this weather. I have been sick for a total of 2 weeks now, with the every annoying cough and runny nose. Living in the East Coast blows when it comes to weather and I can't tell you guys how jealous I am of West Coast people. I love the pics, I am so excited for your romantic "just the two of you" wedding. Well the two of you plus the photographer, plus me. LOL. B/c as you know I am crashing everyone's wedding and your no exception. (J/K) -Glenda

Crate and Barrel
Nrvsbride replied to BayBug's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I also plan to register here. Everything in that store is great, and while a lot of items are pricey, there are still a lot of affordable items that you can pick as long as you don't go overboard and get the $335 onion mincer or something like that. Do you know how long they will let you keep the registry open for? -Glenda -
Tiffany Themed Wedding
Nrvsbride replied to Nrvsbride's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Edyta do you think we could do this at Dreams? Where could we hang stuff? I love it but I don't know how to do it Dreams. -Glenda -
Thank you ladies for all the advice. I actually have no intention of taking out a loan. If I don't have it I am not spending it. I actually have a few credit cards that have 0% interest for a year and a half so if I have to make a large purchase I will do it with that and then just pay it off when I save it. My father was very generous and gave us $20,000 but I refuse to use it towards the wedding. I have it in CD's so that I will not touch it. I plan to use that to put it towards a down payment for something. I am already saving and putting it in a savings account, but I get scared that I won't have enough when it comes down to the actual day. I guess I will save up for the big items and then cut down on the little stuff as I see necessary. -Glenda

Angie I love you b/c you tell me straight up that you don't like the idea! LOL. Actually I was looking candies up online but then I realized that they melt and they don't recommend sending them to places with warm temperatures. So much for that idea. And actually I wasn't going to give my guests jars, I was only going to place the candy in the jar. I would have bags for them to put as much candy as they like to take with them. But now that I think of if, I think most people won't want candy. So I'm killing this idea right now. LOL. -Glenda

I don't know if anyone informed you but I am crashing all the weddings and I'm sure you'll grandmother and I will have a great time! -Glenda

Custom Shirts
Nrvsbride replied to SASSYGIRL's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Thank you for all the nice compliments on my crazy t-shirt ideas. Hey I saw this done once at a wedding. They divided the guests into two teams and gave some kind of quiz about the couple and people came up with the funniest answers when they didn't know. I think it was like Family Feud style. Everyone loved it! And everyone someone lost they had to drink. It was hysterical. I think your idea is great. -Glenda -
Jill I know we have a couple of threads about this already. Some brides love it and some are shy, but I think it's a great idea to offer. I don't think you will offend anyone by offering it as a service if the person is interested. As long as you don't pressure your clients or make them feel uncomfortable then I don't think it is a problem. A lot of the girls on this site are having a get together in Chicago and having Leigh (the photographer) take boudour photos. -Glenda

Don't worry we all went through this. Everyone's family always feeds them a million and one excuses on why they don't want to go. We've heard them all here, but I'll admit the "I don't want to babysit grandma" one is new to me. Unbelievable. Do not let this ruin your excitement. People are going to complain about everything! Sherri was called selfish for having her wedding in Hawaii and I was called a hypocrite for inviting people to a DW when I know that most people won't be able to go. It is very hurtful and I know exactly how you feel but you can't let this upset you or ruin your planning. They will all get over it trust me. And if they don't TOUGH! -Glenda

I am not having one. This is costing me way too much as it is. The FI and I don't even live together so when we come back we will probably move into a cardboard box b/c we will be so broke. Nonetheless I plan to bedazzle my cardboard box and place that box outside Park Avenue so I still feel like a Park Avenue Princess. But if you would all like me to crash your AHR I will gladly oblige. -Glenda

Ok I don't know if there is a thread on this already so I apologize if there is. I was wondering if anyone is doing the candy dessert bar where you put out all different kinds of candies in jars and/or bags and you let your guests take them as a treat or favor at the end of the wedding. I was thinking that depending on what colors I choose for my wedding I would like to do something like this: Perfect Palettes: Pink And Gold Instead of bags though I was thinking of getting clear jars and putting a clear monogram on each jar. I thought this might be cute. -Glenda

I know this thread is old but I wasn't a member when it was started. I also want to do the tierred cupcakes. I wanted to show this link which shows the monogrammed hearts to place in the cupcake. I know there is a company in NYC that makes these monogrammed hearts so I will probably buy that here and then just place them on the cupcakes. I know there were a lot of different girls who were interested in doing the cupcakes but I was wondering if anyone is 100% getting them and what they decided to do. Kash I think you are defenitly doing them right? Did you decide if your going to get one per guest or more than one? For the girls getting them, are you just doing one big tierred stand are or you going to do individualized centerpieces with a couple of cupcakes? Monogrammed Cupcake Tower -Glenda

Chair and linens rentals..
Nrvsbride replied to anaderoux's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
Anny how many guests did you say you are basing your budget on? And what budget did your FI give you to work with? Or are you just asking him for as much money as you need as you go along? (Sorry if I'm being rude for asking, but I'm spanish and we are nosy. LOL.) -Glenda -
I have to admit that I am still confused by your situation. How many guests are you having? (Sorry if you already stated how many). Where is it that you are staying again? I know you mentioned an all-inclusive but a lot of girls on this board are doing all-inclusives and it is still not going to be $5,000. Does your resort not charge a set-up fee? Have you spoken to the resort coordinator about this? And are you using the package for your photography? Maybe that's why it's so inexpensive? I think most of us are just a little confused as to how your able to wing this for so little. I mean by all means if you can that's awesome, I would just hate for you to be forgetting something, or to be misinformed about something. -Glenda

Chair and linens rentals..
Nrvsbride replied to anaderoux's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
Thank you for the Terramar info! Anny I love Tiffany chairs with the tulle. That is my absolute favorite. I have always love the white chairs, the gold ones, and the white ones with silver metal. I love the tulle. I was thinking of the same thing. I was thinking the silver chairs with either white or aqua tulle and then doing the white runners on top of a aqua table cloth. Then I thought of maybe doing white candles and placing hints of silver. I'm still not sure if I'm going to do this b/c I love so many colors that it is hard to choose. I still love fuschia, and sometimes I like the pink and gold (the old hollywood glamour look). Ahh decisions, decisions! -Glenda -
Anyone buy the new Knot wedding mag?
Nrvsbride replied to TammyB's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Tammy can you tell me why May is the best time to go to the Greek Islands? My FI and I plan to honeymoon there. I was always told by greek people that the summer was the best time. Just curious. Oh and for people doing Cabo I think November and May are the two best times to go. And don't go getting all upset Cabo is pretty much nice all year round so if your wedding is not on the greatest month to go, it doesn't mean that your not going to have an amazing wedding. Plus I will be at all your weddings so that will make it that much more fabulous! LOL. -Glenda -
Along with what you said Jackie, I noticed that almost every girl here lives with their FI and/or owns a house or apartment. My FI and I do not live together, we still live with our families (I know I am 26 living at home with my mama, I am a loser) and money still seems tight for us. How do you guys pay for mortagages and rent and still save for a wedding? I am amazed. Neither of us has to pay rent, utilites, or food, we just pay our basic loans and bills and we still can't imagine saving up that much in a year and a half. For the girls that spent more than $10,000 or plan to spend more than $10,000 how did you do it? I just don't want to feel overwhelmed in the end, I want to make sure I am giving myself enough time to save and purchase things. -Glenda

Nrvsbride replied to Nrvsbride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Anny that's gorgeous. Are you getting it made by Pronovias or are you getting your dress at the same place that you are getting your bridesmaids dresses at? What a gorgeous dress. You are such a tiny girl that you will look so nice in that! I love the style. -Glenda -

Nrvsbride replied to anaderoux's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
If I do the Tiffany's theme then I will def get these (assuming they have them in Cabo) If I could get silver ones and then do an aqua table cover with a white runner it might look nice. -Glenda -

I know, that is the original dress I wanted. I told Kash I would buy it from her, but I think now she wants to keep it. I am never going to find a dress I like. Maybe I should just wear tassles and a cork? LOL. -Glenda
