I am so sorry you are going through this, you sound very stressed. They sound like they are concerned for your finances and I'm sure they mean well but realistically it is your wedding and not theirs. You should stop telling them how much you are spending, my FI and I learned this lesson a long time ago. If they are not paying for it, then they should not be interjecting their negativity at every turn. I know it hurts that you can't share in your happiness with them but unfortunately some people are just like this. I hope everything works out. -Glenda

If you buy the stone separately from the band it will also cost you a lot less. My ring is made by Tiffany's but one of the guys who does the diamonds and sets it is my friend's husband so my FI was able to get a ring that is marked at $30,000 for only $12,000. I have a 2 karat princess cut center stone and then I have a double bands with pave diamonds all over it. I love my ring but honestly to me spending so much on a ring is not necessary. Mine's is also platinum which makes it more pricier. Since you are getting white gold I think you can def get a beautiful ring for even less than the $6,000. Ask the person who sells you the ring if they will give you a break if you pay cash. Most jewelers will not charge you tax and/or may be willing to give you the ring for cheaper if you pay them cash. (Assuming you have the money when you buy it) I am so excited for you and can't wait until you get engaged!!!! -Glenda

Okay the cakes I always loved are on this website: The Palm House at Brooklyn Botanic Garden you have to let the into play and it will show you a whole bunch of pics and eventually you will get to the pic of a cake. I always loved this cake it is my favorite but it is just my personal taste so I don't feel offended if you don't like it. and Atlantica -- Long Island weddings on the ocean in the Hamptons; Atlantica specializes in wedding receptions, parties, meetings on the beach in the Hamptons, with fine dining by top Hamptons restaurant chef Todd Jacobs of Tierra Mar you have to click on the photography gallery and it will show you a pic of a cake with two sea horses on the top as a cake topper and seashells on the cake. I also think this is pretty, but again it is my personal opinion, just trying to give you some options. I am sure whatever you pick will be absolutely lovely!!! -Glenda

Christine I don't know much about this but I know that when I hired Juan he said he would give me two extra albums and my FI and I decided to give one to each set of parents. I know that the pics will mean a lot to them. I don't know about traditional gifts but this is what we plan to give them. -Glenda

Thank you Raina for your honest opinion. I was 100% sure I was getting a cigar roller and my FI just decided that we will not do this anymore. We have decided to cut back and this is the place we will do it. I am going to take your advice and just buy some Cuban cigars when we get down there and either put them in our OOT bag or just give them out at our reception. Jill I am going to be 100% honest with you so please don't mind me. Since the very day that I read your entry for Jonathan's photography contest I fell in love with your story. I love nothing more than a family united, especially when children are involved. I want so much for you to have the greatest wedding ever. I love this photographer, I think the pics are great and if you can afford it, then def book it. But more than anything I just want you to know how happy I am that you, your FI, and your daughter will have the cutest pics ever. IMHO, just having pics of the three of you together will be amazing.
