Freak out...
Christine replied to TATrisha's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Trisha that is so scary, I hope you get a new pair and are able to make his suit work...I can't believe your wedding is in a few days! -
Kate that place looks great, can't wait to hear all about it. Good luck with the job hunt.

we miss you around here, how are the wedding plans going, have you found a place in Cape Cod yet?

BM with twobirds
Christine replied to sunnydaes's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
those are beautiful and I love the idea of the girls having some options with their dresses... -
I was told by a few women at Sephora, that mineral make up is not great for profressional photography since it has SPF in it which reflects the light...I would recommend going into Sephora and having them help you, explain you specifically need it for wedding activities. I personally used Laura Mercier and I loved it, I still use it now.

is that in the downtown area? You will like it, its very quaint.

Jen, totally normal. Its partially the freak out because of the plans coming together and the other part is holy cow I am going to be someone's wife, that is some serious business. You know you've dreamed of it you're whole life...Jen it's going to be great and amazing just take deep breaths and enjoy these last few days before the big day!

congrats its such a great feeling to see the baby and the heartbeat, that means your miscarriage rate is down to almost nothing now, which was the most reassuring thing for me.

I wouldn't know what a liquid lunch is since teachers don't get to go out for lunch, but I imagine it would help some days. So sorry you are having a crappy day Mel, at least its friday and you can go home and enjoy your weekend.

ACK! We're moving x-country the week before our wedding!

Any other 'hoods you like that are close to one of those hospitals? oh okay, I worked for a cardiologist right across from that hospital. Oh its a really great area, lots of eating, shopping, and a cool indie movie theater all within walking distance (and a fun parade once a year). You will be about two exits away from downtown and one exit from balboa park. I would totally live there, it will be perfect. There are some really cool high rise apartments in the downtown area. Sorry but the whole public transit isn't great, the trolley is cool but not really a commuter thing. If he will be gone alot I say hillcrest is a good idea because its one of the safest areas in town. -

Hillcrest is not close enough to walk or bike to La Jolla unless he is being put at the hospital there, I used to work in Hillcrest it is a quaint area, it is the rainbow district (not sure if that's the right term), which I think makes it incredibly safe to walk around. Hillcrest is off the 163 near Balboa park, which is awesome and my favorite place in San Diego. What hospital will he be at? oh and by the way, what is your first name, I am sorry I don't know. -

I've seen friends have to move off fast, so they left their cats, dogs, cars, etc. with someone else for a few weeks. you can ship your car but its super expensive and no you really can't get around La Jolla without a car, the west coast is not known for its mass transit, although they did just put in a trolley but it doesn't go any where near La Jolla. It goes from the ball park into SDSU which is directly east not north. -
have you seen the pictures of the zoo wedding on Leigh Miller's blog, the bride wore animal print shoes and she has some great shots of the unique shoes. I say go for it wear something fun and funky just to spice it up and bit...you won't be in heels for much longer so take advantage of it now.

I was also going to suggest a pod that way you guys can fly there (or drive your own car with your parrot and make better time) It took us 3 1/2 days from Vegas to DC which is a little less of a drive from NYC to SD. Also please let me know if you need any suggestions on places to live in SD, I went to college there and my mother lives there. UCSD is in La Jolla, which is one of the most expensive areas of town, but I would recommend for you guys to live as close as you can to there because with traffic and his crazy schedule in the hospital (I am sure residents don't get first pick at good schedules) you will want to live closer to the hospital. Also it depends on where you will work, because everyone pretty much commutes from the north end of SD to the south downtown area. You will probably want to find a place along the 5 near La Jolla, Pacific Beach would be good, expensive but a fun place to live, you can walk to tons of shopping, eating, etc. Okay as for your wedding...take a deep breath this is all going to work out, UCSD is a great med school and hospital and he is very lucky to have matched there so that is the best part of this all. Your wedding will work out. Pack all your stuff up in a pod and have it moved, don't hire a moving company as that is nearly $4-5k to move cross country. Try to see what you could possibly sell between now and then (we sold everything and bought again once we moved). -
Everyone's siggy's are so pretty, this was a great choice Tammy!

Yari, I didn't see your pics last night, but honestly I don't think you should spend $500 when those invites are really nice. Think about it, how many people will keep those forever, not many, I mean even my own mother lost hers, I am pretty sure I am the only person who kept my invite and for that reason you should do something to pretty them up but I don't think scrapping them entirely is the answer. Sarah's picture will be great for the front part and you can keep the pocket stuff the same. Also take a look at some of the other girls pocket folds and get some idea on ribbon and other items to jazz it up, you wouldn't believe how far you can go with vellum and some ribbon. you could even do a seashell printed on the cardstock and the wording printed on vellum (I did that with a grape cluster and it looked fanstastic)

I just had my mom send it to her house in San Diego, she has more closet space and storage space than I do (I actually have two dresses). I tried to sell the one I didn't wear but got nothing so I might donate the one I didn't wear and keep the one I did for my daughter to play dress up in, I am sure she won't want to wear it.

I've just been objective about them, given what I've seen. So yeah, they must be doing something right if some many people are flocking to them. Anyway, moving on..... yes calling a place a wedding factory is obviously offensive, and many people choose resorts for a reason, which is why I am sure you chose the resort you have chosen. Also people are not flocking to them, instead choosing a resort based on their needs and dreams fulfills a lot of needs for many different types of people. Every dreams bride I have seen on this forum in my time here has had amazingly beautiful weddings and if you are concerned about the beach then by all means go on a site visit and check it out before your guests pay for something. I honeymooned in Jamaica and honestly used the pool just as much as I used the beach. We mainly went in the ocean for water sports which I assume is similar to many of the resorts in Mexico.

WTH? Ever hear of Desire Resort?
Christine replied to mpark46's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
that is too funny, the couples resort we stayed at for our honeymoon has a clothing optional island, you had to take a boat out to it, but the people I saw getting on the boat were not really the cream of the crop...it was interesting, but the main part of the resort was not clothing optional. -
I went to the bookstore and got a few books for ideas but mainly google and BDW were my main source of ideas.
