He's probably right, most people won't come, but that is not always the case. It was the case for me, which is why I chose a destination a little closer to where most of my family lives. You can always send out save the dates once you decide the date, and see what the response is (tell them you need an early RSVP for the resort).
  2. Have you ever gone to their jazz concerts over the summer. They are so much fun. I think that is a definate stop on my bridal shower/bachelorette party weekend.
  3. you are going to keep me very busy next week when I go there...I have so many places to look at now. This looks so cute.

Glenda, Can I tell you the first thing I did was sign up on the knot.com or the weddingchannel.com. Then I spent an entire afternoon in the Barnes and Noble Wedding Book Section. It can be overwhelming but it helps you to get an idea of what to do first. Having a location can be a great first step. I would say location and date are the most important, then talk to your fiance about how big or small/elegant or casual you want your wedding to be...and even though its really hard not to listen to your family...remember over all this is your day and you have to do what you want. Please let us know how we can help.
  5. I e-mailed them for more info. Even if its out of my price range I will let you know what I find out. I did find a 100 year old church in Napa that I might be able to use...
  6. let me know how it goes, I am debating between a night time candle-lit ceremony and a garden wedding. Not sure what to do yet but if I do either I can use the luminaries. I like the idea making some of the decor because it gives that personalized feeling.
  7. welcome, this site can be addicting, but all the girls have great advice and really can be helpful as well as supportive for those bridezilla moments.
  8. is anyone actually doing the home down payment option. My FI (Will) says he doesn't want to register at all. I was thinking Macy's for towels and other things just for people who are traditional, but we have lived together for so long and moved twice and I don't want any more crap...I just want to move my crap into a house. I belong to BofA does anyone know if they have a wedding registry thing. How do you let people know about the account with the whole etiquette thing of not including your registry in the invites?
  9. This is in the Temecula Wine County (Inland So Cal) about one hour from LA, OC, and SD. My mom and I have been here for a lot of events in the summers. Its beautiful and family run. Welcome to Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyards
  10. I am jumping in on this really late...but those are so cute and I was wondering how the clear labels turned out, did anyone try them? I am excited about trying these.
  11. okay now I am going to have to try to find a store with that brand too. I really like that tucked look (not sure if you describe it like that). Thanks for the great ideas.
  12. My Fiance is scared that he will get beaten. Growing up in NV we are pretty used to them. He said one time he went and saw a bachelor party going on, he said the girls were slapping the guy all around...so now he is all freaked out. I am sure he will still go, but no biggie.
  13. I just fwd my grandma Maggie's website to see if there were any shops near her so we could go shopping, she said she really liked the same dress you did. Now I might have to try it on too!!
  14. I am going shopping in CA this coming week, but in case I don't find something I will need to shop around here.
  15. okay I am going to try this...I bought two today...
  16. I think the seashells are super cute, because you can really do an entire seashell theme for your OOT bags.
  17. that is so beautiful, you will look amazing. That is a similar look that I want...I might have to check it out. Let us know how it goes at the store.
  18. I think it would look funny to bustle up the train for the ceremony, after all you bought the dress because you liked the whole dress. Everyone should see you in all your glory!! I think the flip flops might be loud, you'll have to practice walking around with them on.

Welcome Glenda, Don't be overwhelmed. This forum is so great to release the stress and vent anytime. Everyone on here is very helpful and honest. I think I would already had a nervous breakdown a few times if it had not been for some of the advice I have read (and I've only been around for a short time). Good luck and let us know if you need anything.
  20. Oh that will be beautiful with the fall foliage. Welcome to the forum.
  21. Jackie, I picked number two, because I have realized recently that a wedding is truly a celebration that should be shared in someway with your closest friends/family if possible. Or if you do the first option, I would say make sure you have a gathering when you get home, even if its a small dinner at your favorite place.
  22. Did you go shopping in the DC Area? I am headed back to CA this weekend to shop, but I think it might be easier to find something here...where did you go?
  23. Thanks for all the nice thoughts and wishes ladies...Have a great holiday weekend coming up...I am on my way to the Bay Area to scout some of these places out!!!
  24. This is not a winery, but does have a large indoor/outdoor facility for weddings. Flying Cloud Farm
  25. Mid week pricing is actually pretty reasonable Paradise Ridge Winery Special Event Information
