Is anyone planning on going to Obama's Inauguration?
Christine replied to Alyssa's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Alyssa I just looked at expedia and mostly everything is booked out. My dad stayed at the best western in springfield, va and he said it was nice, I would recommend finding a place and calling them personally. A lot of the prices seemed outrageous. -

the news tonight said a lot of hotels are already booked, I know my students plan to go. Ainsleigh will be 7 months old so I am not really sure what we will be able to go to. -
too bad, I wish this didn't have to happen, but like it was said earlier maybe this is the situation that will finally bring it to the supreme court.

Napa, not napa, that makes me embarrassed that my marriage license came from there.

I don't think we slept more than 3 hours. We went to dinner with friends to watch the results & everyone was glued to the tv. On the way home, people were honking there horns & cheering. I am so happy that you are so proud of your vote, however this is completely not okay, you are not supposed to do that. Taking photographs of a persons vote (even your own) is not allowed. I really hope that this will not become a habit now that we have phones with cameras so easily accessible this is a thread on a photography forum I found on google...I can find the actual laws but I think everyone will get the point SportsShooter.com - Restrictions on Photographing Voting??

its funny you all say no on the frame, we have beagles and used a frame for both of them because of their hunting instincts they dug at the paper potty pads and the frame kept them in place which was necessary for us. We loved having the frame for the potty pads and got ours at petsmart. I also got the big box of potty pads at petsmart and would suggest everyone also crate train their puppies.

I talked to my grandmother today and she even said she thought it was totally inappropriate for the state to define marriage as that is a religious issue. My 83 year old grandmother voted NO!!!!! (my other grandmother voted yes so they canceled each other out).

Yari that is what I was trying to say, I think that this could be the challenge the supreme court needs to make a final decision on this...but remember we don't want it to go to the SC quite yet, we need Obama to put a liberal justice on the court first.

yes the "call" is made by the media not the state, the states do not "call" anything until the ballots are counted. Jamy unfortunately the absentee, overseas, and military ballots tend to be conservative so it won't change the results of this particular situation.

well said Mo here is a snippet from msnbc.com California voters ban gay marriage - Decision ’08 – ballot initiatives Quote: It also represents a personal loss for the thousands of couples from California and others states who got married in the brief window when they could. Legal experts said courts will have to resolve whether their unions still are valid. it looks like all the couples will no longer be married. I think one of these couples needs to start putting together a case and take it to the supreme court since marriage is a religous term and by defining a religious ideal the state is violating the first amendment to the USC.

Quote: Article. VI. All Debts contracted and Engagements entered into, before the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be as valid against the United States under this Constitution, as under the Confederation. This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States. in my opinion any state making a law that is based on a religious ideal is breaking the supreme law of the land and is in violation of the USC. my entire family is from CA and one day my husband and I will probably move back there but I am ashamed to say that today. CA is supposed to be the progressive state, the one that shows the rest of the nation what is fair in this world and today they ruined that for me. I am embarrassed that so many people feel it is their right to decide who someone can marry and I am quite frankly disgusted.

Hannah Maries Birth Story and Pics!! See Post #55
Christine replied to ACDCDCAC's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
oh how exciting! Welcome baby Hannah!!!!!!!!! -
I find it so incredibly sad that people feel that the bible is an excuse to discriminate against others. Jamy said it right on, the Bible (which only means book) is not meant to be taken the way some people do, it is a guide for life and if you believe in the sanctity of marriage than you should believe that anyone who loves another person should be able to dedicate their lives to each other and raise a family if they so wish. I plan to raise my daughter with an open mind that not only should her uncle be allowed to marry anyone, but that if she wants to marry a person of another race, religion, gender, or whatever I don't really care as long as they are happy and love each other that's all that matters! I wish I still lived in CA just so I could have voted on this terrible bill. The supreme court in CA found the law unconstitutional once why can't people realize the court should have the final say in constitutionality of a law.

typically mac stores just encourage you to buy something, ask ahead of time but I think you just have to spend a certain amount on products. I always wind up getting lip stuff because you will need to reapply though out the night anyway. -

will you be on the strip? most of the hotels have a salon, I doubt they will be reasonably priced on NYE though. Honestly, when I need my makeup done for a event like NYE I go to a MAC store (not a counter at the department store). I will try to remember where I used to get my hair done, but it will be far away from the strip since I lived close to Summerlin. -
