I was just looking for some guidance.. That said.. We told everyone on the Save the Date it would be a no children affair.. but we researched a good hotel with Childcare services for anyone who wanted to bring the kids on the trip.. We're having a welcome party and children are invited to that. Just not the day of the wedding. So this couple was told previously, and there was a note inside the invitation again reiterating that the WEDDING DAY would be no kids. So my fiance emailed his friend.. we haven' heard back yet. I know they're completely booked because we had dinner with them a month ago and they're making it a big trip and staying for a week. I'm 90% sure they are very aware it's a no kids function. For now I'm letting my fiance handle it (it's his friend, I don't know them well).. but if I don't hear something in the next week. I'm going to have make a phone call. I would feel horrible if they showed up with their son, and my close friends and family followed our wishes and didn't bring their children. UGH!! Amy, is it possible they are just RSVPing for three for the entire vacation? I didn't even think about that.
  3. I guess arguing was a strong word, I find a debate healthy sometimes too.
  4. I feel like some people are just so incredibly demanding, we stayed at Couples in Jamaica and had a great honeymoon and thought the people in Jamaica were great. yes they are pushy about tips, and offer you some stuff to smoke, but honestly I thought the people on and off the resort were awesome. I didn't stay at the RUI but on our plane ride home sat with some people who did, and when the entire hotel's air went out they quickly relocated everyone and made sure they had a good quality experience as well as offering their guests who were displaced a stay in the future. I have to say that is customer service and I think those are the types of things brides should focus on.
  5. one of my friends got married at a private residence in the palisades and it was amazing, why not see if you can rent out a private house in malibu on the beach? As far as the guests staying close by, I know that my friend who had her wedding there got a pretty good room block at some of the hotels in Santa Monica (we went to high school there) but when I went to the wedding I stayed in Culver City and it wasn't a big deal to get to the wedding. As for San Diego, hmm La Jolla would probably be your best bet for something a little nicer, and why not get a nice hotel room block in hotel circle which is not that bad of a drive to La Jolla. I will keep thinking about SD and LA for you, DreaW might be able to help you out more with OC
  6. oh that looks nice on you and you can totally wear something like again.
  7. Can I also suggest looking into something close to home, what about going to San Diego or somewhere in Malibu? I think that you seem to really want a traditional wedding and I don't know that you will find all of your requests at a hotel (band, food, kids, cost effective, etc.)
  8. I can't entirely help you out, but have you looked at Cabo Surf, which is a smaller hotel and I know many of the girls on this forum have had beautiful wedding there. As for the water in Cabo, I haven't ever been there but I know in So Cal it really depends on the time of year you go. The beaches in Cabo are pretty nice from the photos and reviews I have seen and this is a fairly easy destination for most people to get to. Tara (tvt) went through this when she was planning and we asked her to make a priority list of what she really wanted. Can you let go of the ocean water issues if they have a great pool? Do they have to have surfing, or can you go somewhere for your honeymoon to surf? I haven't been to mexico a whole lot but what about another location in Latin America?
  9. sorry no help here, but my guess is that the book you are making is made for wide photos and not tall ones, you would actually have to crop your photo to make it wide.
  10. Jilly, you look amazing in that dress, it fits you so perfectly. I am really happy you went with this one.
  11. Okay Ladies, as many people have said this is an issue that everyone is obviously feeling very strongly about and we have worked really hard to create a helpful, happy, and peaceful forum, so please let's end the arguement and understand that everyone has their own opinions about this...
  12. Heidi that is terrible that you had to go through that, one of my best friends went through a really similar thing with her father and you know she found some solace in the book a million little pieces even though there was so much controversy over the book, she actually wound up writing the author. It truly helped her deal with the loss of her absentee father. I hope that going to the park will bring you some closure. my mom has always told me my entire life, use your life events to learn something and become a better person for that. You are going to be an amazing mother because you have been through this and know the wrong way to be a parent, your children will benefit from you having to go through this. My condolences to your family for the loss and I hope that you can find some peace with your dad.
  13. Yes Angela you have a drink from me, a money bag from Tami (foxytv) and the star. I think your settings might not be allowing it to show up...what color do you have your screen on?
  14. maybe she doesn't have the right codes turned on, I remember when Jessalyn couldn't post photos she had to change some settings.
  15. just wanted to bump this thread because a lot of people have lost their tickers lately. I think that one of the websites people were getting their tickers from is not working right now. Also here is another site that you might want to add to your list! When is my wedding - Wedding Ticker Countdown for Bebo, MySpace, Forums, Email and Blogs please let me or any of the other mods know if you need help with your tickers.
  16. my mom didn't react at all, in fact until just recently she told me she actually liked my dress and it reminded her of the dress she wore when she married my dad.
  17. happy birthday! hope its the best ever!!
  18. Leigh, as usual, beautiful, amazing, and fantastic!
