Sarah's Exhaustive Wedding Review 5-7-07 Dreams Los Cabos
jpkw replied to Sarah's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
Sarah - I LOVE LOVE LOVE your review!!! I have been anxiously waiting to read this, thanks SO much for putting together all of this information. I got tears in my eyes as I read your last sentence about what Jeff said to you during your first dance! I'm SO happy that everything worked out so perfectly!!! I know how much planning and energy you put into everything and I am absolutely thrilled for you! I cannot wait to see all of your pictures and to see how beautiful you looked!!! I do have a few questions (believe it or not): 1) I'm using the same mariachi and am SO happy you gave them such a good review! Jose asked me what type of music I wanted him to play for the ceremony. I just said romantic trio music, but he said it would help if I told him specifics. Did you give him specific songs to play, or how did he know what to play for yours? If you loved your music, maybe I'll just tell him to play whatever he played for yours? Did you have a specific song for the processional? 2) Dreams make-up: I have appts for myself and my bridesmaids to get our makeup done at Dreams (and my hair too). You've scared me with your experience (but I'm SO glad for the heads-up). Do you think I should book someone completely different (suzanne morel) or will Dreams be able to do the make-up if I give them specific instructions on how to do it?? (Also, for the hair?) let me know your honest opinion - thanks!!!! Dreams is so much cheaper than outside vendors for make-up but I want to be happy with it!!! 3) Luminarias - how many did you end up using? thanks Sarah!! A HUGE congratulations to you & Jeff!!! I'm so happy your wedding was so wonderful and everything you hoped for! -
Sarah - congratulations!!!! i haven't had a chance to log on in the past few days and have been dying to hear about your wedding!! i am so very happy for you! it sounds amazing! we can't wait to read the official review and see the pics!!! enjoy cabo & being married!!!

I have my FIRST dress fitting today!! I got in a big fight with them over the past 2 weeks b/c my dress took forever to get in. I hope it fits and there are minimal alterations! FI's parents' passports finally got here yesterday - those were my biggest stress! We still have to finalize our ceremony and do our programs and a bunch of other little things for OOT bags and our guest info letter. Plus our seating charts and place cards. Hopefully this weekend we'll get more done, it is never ending! I really don't want to do anything while I'm in Cabo except enjoy time with our guests so I have to get it all done soon... Maybe we will meet you on June 2?? FUN! We have our rehearsal dinner that night and I'm sure people will go out afterward. Not sure if it's really a good idea for me to go out in Cabo the night before my wedding, though... You SHOULD come by Dreams on June 3 - you can be my spy on checking how the set up is going while I'm getting ready!
-
I leave on May 29! So crazy how fast it is coming up!! I'll be in Cabo May 29 - June 5 .... I'm leaving at 5:50pm on the day of your wedding so I won't be able to crash!! Sad! If you need to borrow anything, we could meet up on June 4? When do you go? Are you all ready? We are honeymooning later in June (we have to come back right after our wedding for FI to finish school - he's a teacher) - but the good thing is that I can get my review posted for everyone right away!
-
I leave on 5/29, but I'd love to meet up if I'm not too crazy getting ready... I'm in Hermosa and could easily get up to Venice!! Would be SO Fun!

We are getting married at 5pm on the beach. The music has to stop at 11pm at Dreams so we want to have enough time for our party! 5pm Ceremony 5:30-6:30pm Cocktail hour 6:30pm-8pm Dinner 8pm-11pm Dancing & Party

A few of Edyta's wedding Pics
jpkw replied to EDYTA's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
I LOVE the pics!!!! You look amazing!! So happy for you! Where did you get your flowers and where did you get your hair and make up done? It looks fantastic! -
I went to a wedding course at the church (so that we can get our marriage blessed in the church when we get back from Mexico) - they read the hand ceremony to us at the end of the day... i completely started crying (and I don't usually cry) - it was really meaningful, I loved it!! We are doing the sand ceremony for our wedding in Mexico and we'll do the hand ceremony when we do the blessing in the church. thanks for the wording Christine!!
-
Do you think you could get them to me before I leave on May 29?? I'd love to buy some of the OOT bags and/or favor boxes. I'm including 12 kids in my wedding and these would be perfect to put a little gift in (maybe for my 5 BMs too?). I'll PM you.

Sarah - thanks for sharing your sand ceremony wording - it is really nice!!! -
i'm going to hire him for the ceremony - i was debating just having one of my brothers do the video but if i'm going to do it, i might as well get a professional one. sam has been really responsive to all of my emails and also says they will NOT get in the way of the photographer! i'm paying him $200 for the ceremony plus maybe a little footage before and after... (or $300 to get it on DVD). hopefully it's worth it - this is a last minute decision since i was NOT going to have a videographer but everyone keeps telling me to get one.
-
thank you tammy! this is the phone number that they never answer, right? i'm going to give it a try... i think you making a trip to chicago is the best thing! although it is probably the last thing you want to do right now...

Thanks Tammy!!!!! -
i'm in the same boat - my FMIL (that HATES traveling and HATES the idea of Mexico) still does NOT have her passport. Ann / Tammy - can you give me the 800#s that you called and the email addresses too? I HAVE to look into this ASAP!! thanks girls!
-
yeah, that's true - i forgot about the marriage! LOL could you bring your driver's license and do you have an old passport you could bring & maybe a birth certificate for the proof of your real birthday? at least you have a physical passport, so you CAN get into the country...
-
Welcome!! You have come to the right place! I used to live in Costa Rica (for 2 years teaching). It is a wonderful place!!! Where are you getting married?
-
this might be a dumb question - does the date of birth matter??
-
Tammy - I know!!! Time is going by SOO fast, I'm getting anxious... How are you doing with your plans?? I have been emailing back & forth with Sam regarding videographer. He has been really responsive and seems really great! Unfortunately June 3 is his bday and he won't be able to video my wedding but he can get his assistant to do it. I'm asking for just a video of the ceremony. Here are his prices: "The rate for the time specified would be $250 (US) and would include all expenses. The rate for the ceremony footage on 3 dvds would be $300. My normal rate for creating an official wedding film is $1,500. This includes the pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktails, photo shoot, and reception. A total of 5 hours. The video is edited with music (provided by you) and it also includes a photo slideshow of the wedding (Photos to be provided by photographer). The film will also come with a DVD menu and package, professionally designed."
-
I just emailed Sam to find out rates for my wedding ceremony. I will let you all know what he says...
-
Thanks for the great information! I'm going to look into it!

We are all going to be thinking about you and waiting anxiously to see the pictures and hear all about your wonderful day! Congratulations and thanks for sharing everything! I agree that you need to get in the planning business - you are incredible!! One more question - could you share the wording from your sand ceremony (only if you have a chance)? -
don't forget about me - JUNE 3!! (i have been traveling so much lately for work and haven't been on the forum) - the May and June weddings are coming up SO fast...!! Is everyone ready?
-
please let us know!! i am worried about it as well... i have a ton of guests coming down and i'd hate for there to be construction during their vacation!

How to thank bridal shower hostesses?
jpkw replied to SarahMc's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
i got personalized stationary for my sisters and mom who are hosting a shower for me. for another shower from my fi's mom's friend, i got her a gift certificate for a facial. i agree that any gift would work but you should definitely do something to thank them - even if it's just a card or flowers.
