  1. Welcome! You will find a TON of information here. I'm leaving for Cabo tonight for my site visit at Dreams. We're getting married June 3 at Dreams - I can't wait to go see it. I'll post a review when I'm back, but you can find everything you need to know on this forum! As for a binder, I have one that is plastic and opens up like an accordian with a lot of different folder sections for loose paper. This works well for me b/c I have been ripping pics out of magazines and this type of binder helps me organize the various sections (I have them labeled for flowers, hair, music, decorations, etc). GOOD LUCK!
  2. I really like them too and such a great deal!!! Are you carrying the hurricanes down to Cabo with you?
  3. Hi Karla, Yes! - can you post the link to the shell website? thanks! Jen
  4. We will probably have about 10 golfers (maybe more?). Please let me know what you can find out about group rates -thanks so much! I also am interested in the snorkeling/boat trip just so we have an activity for the families with kids as well. I have to look into the zip line as well - is there an age limit for this? great ideas! thanks!!
  5. WE sent them out this week! thanks for all of the input! i'm so glad we have it done!! now hopefully our guests will make their arrangements over the holidays...
  6. We are trying to come up with some activities for 1 day of our wedding weekend. I like the idea of a snorkel / boat trip that Tammy host did. I also want to plan a golf outing (we have several guys that really want to golf in cabo). My question is - should i start contacting golf places now to get a group tee time? Do any places offer discounted group rates? we'll be down there for our site visit on Jan 2 and i wasn't sure if i should go to some of the golf places and try to hold something for the Sat before our wedding (June 2, 2007). For those of you that are planning golf for your guests, can you let me know how you did it?? Also, any other suggestions for activities? Tammy host - was the snorkel /boat trip fun? We have a lot of kids coming so i thought this would be a fun one while the guys were off golfing... let me know your feedback on activities. thanks chicas!
  7. I'm so excited to be another Dreams bride!! And I can't wait to go see it Jan 2! I'll post a review once I'm back!
  8. TammyM - I think $5 is way too much as well. There is a boutique store near my house that sells big starfish for $3 (which i thought was expensive!). Buying them in bulk is the way to go -it's just a matter of bringing them down to Mexico without them breaking. I have to keep thinking about exactly what I'm doing with the decorations, but I'm definitely going to get some of the little starfish to scatter around and I may do the big ones too for place cards or something. I'll let you know as I figure it out, but I'm happy to share the starfish / shells that I get since our weddings are only 2 days apart!
  9. REally cute Valerie! thanks for posting! I'm going down to Dreams for my site visit Jan 2 and will be asking if there are bowls available and i'm hoping to get inspiration for my centerpieces once i officially see the location! i def want to do the sand/shell/starfish theme either with a candle or with flowers. i'll post my ideas soon... Jen
  10. thank you!!!!!! this is SO very helpful! I'm sure i will keep reading these lists over & over and esp right before the wedding to keep things in perspective. thanks for all of your advice and tips! i'm getting so excited to be married at Dreams! and i can't wait to finally go actually see it in 2 weeks - Jan 2!!
  11. I saw the picture and love the look with the starfish and the votives on your cake table! And the starfish on the guest tables - so cute. thanks!! (your pictures are amazing!) I'm going to try to recreate something similar. I'll post more ideas as I get some. My sister is helping with my decorations and she's much more crafty than me (thankfully!).
  12. karla & natasha - do you have pics of how you used the starfish? was it for table decorations? we love ideas!
  13. TammyM - can you ask Maye what the store is that sells the starfish in Cabo? (I don't have Maye's contact info). I'll be there over New Yrs and for my site visit and can go take a look.
  14. Hi Tammy, We think we may have ~80 people...(!) Save the Dates just went out yesterday. I'm hoping to do the starfish / shell theme for our centerpieces at the reception and maybe something citrus or brighter for the rehearsal / welcome dinner (maybe even bright paper flowers for the rehearsal dinner) - I'm trying not to do much for that but a few of my friends really want to help so I'm just going to delegate if I can. For the wedding reception, I want to do a lot of candles and the tiki torches or paper lanterns too, if we can. It depends on which place at Dreams that we decide to hold the reception. I'll know more once we see it (in 2 weeks - yay!). I'd LOVE to share anything with you!! I'm going to talk to Mariana and see what she has in terms of vases or glass bowls and then decide what I'd have to buy (& see what i can get down there). I haven't figured out flowers yet either (or my colors!), but I'm waiting until I do my site visit to get more inspiration. What ideas do you have so far for your decorations? talk to you soon - Jen
  15. We're going with Dreams - June 3, 2007! With our varied group (lots of kids-nieces/nephews, our friends who just want to have fun & parents who are hesitant to travel), the all-inclusive seemed the best option. Plus we really want everyone to be in the same place for the entire weekend. I'll be down there 1/2-1/5 for our site visit. Can't wait to actually see it!!!!
  16. Great info! thanks!! I look forward to reading the lists from other brides (when you have the time...)
  17. I went to a wedding 2 summers ago (in cape cod) where they had shells and baby starfish on the tables. It looked great! I just emailed the bride to ask her to send me a picture of her centerpieces and I will post when I get it. I'm definitely going to do the starfish and candle and maybe shells on the tables - you could always sprinkle a little sand with the shells and starfish and put a big candle in the middle? I was going to do rosepetals and candles or lemon/limes as my centerpieces but the sparkle on my dress kind of looks like shells, so i want to incorporate the shell / beachy look. I'll try to come up with an idea and post the pic. thanks for the link on the starfish for sale! I also found this link: Caribbean Imports seashells, starfish, sanddollars, capiz shell, bulk wholesale These are cute too: Starfish Tealight Candles
  18. I just bought my dress this weekend!! So excited!! It ended up being very different than I thought I would buy. I was thinking I'd get something really simple, but I ended up with a dress that has some sparkle and also has a train. It's beautiful and I love it, but I wanted to ask if any of you married girls walked on the beach with your train out and if it was ok in the sand...? Or, are any of the other non-married girls planning to walk in the sand with a train? I don't mind getting sand on my dress, but I just want to make sure I can walk and am not dragging a huge pile of sand behind me. We might get married on the beach (will decide after our site visit in 2 weeks!) and the train looks great when it's down, but I'm wondering if I should just keep it bustled while on the sand... Also, what kind of shoes did you girls wear for the sand? Can I get away with flip flops? Will they show in the pictures? THANKS!
  19. I have actually ordered three dresses from the Nordstrom website (ranging $300-800). Their bridal section has really similar dresses to NM. They also have an amazing return policy and right now shipping is free for any order over $100. One of my dresses was that Nicole Miller criss-cross back - it is beautiful but the straps were too thick for me. So far, I like one of the dresses (different nicole miller) and will return the other 2 to the store. I might order a few more to try... One of my friends suggested this to me before I saw this post, it is a GREAT way to find inexpensive dresses & fun b/c you can try on in your home!
  20. I like the sand ceremony idea. I have heard this also set up at the end of the aisles (like where your guest book would be). You could have two containers of sand (one color is for the bride & one for the groom). Before each guest takes their seat, they scoop a little bit of the sand into a decanter (representing whichever side they are on - bride or groom). Then for the ceremony, the bride takes her bottle of sand (full of her family & friends) and the groom has his bottle of sand (representing his family & friends) and they mix the two together - representing the mixture of all family & friends into one... I thought this was a nice idea to include all guests.
  21. WOW!!! I LOVE it! You look gorgeous. Every single picture is amazing!!! I'm so happy for you & Marc - you are glowing with happiness in these photos!
  22. Hello - how early did all of you send out your Save the Dates? We are getting married on June 3, 2007 at Dreams, but we are going down to visit and meet with vendors 12/28-1/5. Should I send the Save the Dates out prior to our visit (mid December)?? Or should I wait to send them out in mid January when we return in case there are any extra details to add?? I just don't know how much advance notice people want... the families that we are inviting (my sisters & their kids) want as much advance notice as possible but I am hesitant to send them out before we go down there. I guess I can always send out another info sheet at a later point?? Also, we are getting photo cards (like people do for xmas cards) made from the kodakgallery or snapfish web site for our Save the Dates with 2 pics of us along with a simple save the date message. The price is GREAT & it's really easy! I'm going to create an info sheet for hotel & flights (maybe on card-stock & glue to the back). Most of the photo websites have sales right now before the holidays so we found the cards at a great price.
  23. I'm so excited that we have officially decided to have our wedding at Dreams! I love all of the reviews and can't wait to see more pictures!! Rebecca - your wedding looked incredible!
  24. We don't have any arrangements for our site visit yet b/c we're also making it into a mini vacation (FI is off school). I don't think my FI realizes how much we're actually going to do when we're down there (wedding planning stuff)... He wants to go to Todos Santos / La Paz as well to surf, so we'll just somehow fit it all in. It would be GREAT if we could actually stay at Dreams for a few days to really get a feel for the resort and decide where we want to hold diff events!! How do I go about finding out if they have room for us any nights btwn 12/28-1/5?? Previously i have emailed with Yesica only, I've never been in contact with Mariana. Should I get in touch with her? Can you send me her info? thanks!
