Yay! I really want to do this! Leigh - I'll email you!!! I would drive down to SD from LA. Where could we meet in SD and have our session? let's do it!! There have to be others that want to join!!!? I'm happy to drive down with anyone from LA (I'm in Hermosa). This is great inspiration to get to the gym for the next 2 weeks!

thanks for starting this thread!!! i have completely overlooked what to do for my BM's hair & make-up. The past few weddings I have been in, the bride DID paid for us to get one done (either hair or make-up). If girls wanted both, they just paid for one. I have to figure this out b/c I don't have enough in my budget to pay for everyone (5 BM total)!! I plan to have Dreams do my hair & make-up, but it is going to be really simple - probably just blown out with just the front part tied back. As for make-up, I'm going to get mine done at Sephora or a dept store before I go and buy what they suggest. I'm hoping the stylist from the Dreams spa can recreate it!! Or, I might see if my sister can do it... I'm planning to just share the make-up with the BMs.

Congratulations Lenita!!! I am so happy for you! Everything looks amazing! ENJOY! -
Ann- It definitely won't be boring!! everyone is going to be so excited to be all together and to start celebrating you! i'm sure after dinner, the people that want to stay out can just go to another bar at the hotel for a few more drinks. that's what I'm thinking for ours... i don't think you need to plan anything special except for the dinner. one little thing we are doing it getting a sound system with microphone for people to give speeches if they want. i have a big group and for most rehearsal dinners that i have been to, a lot of people end up speaking. for my already married sisters & brothers, we did something similar and it was really nice (since the only speech we are having for the wedding reception is best man / maid of honor). not sure how big your wedding is, you might not need the microphone.

Should I have a MARIACHI BAND or a TRIO?
jpkw replied to Sarah's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
I'm joining this post late, but I am going with a Mariachi band. We will have just a few of them play at the ceremony and have the whole band play for cocktail hour. I have so many kids that will be there and I think the idea of a mariachi is so much fun and festive and gives it more of an authentic mexican feel. And I figure since we are in Mexico it's the only time you can really have a mariachi band...! as for what type of music, i'm going to ask Maye what she suggests. i hired the mariachi on my own and they speak limited english so i'm hoping Maye can help me determine what type of music should be played for the ceremony. as with sarah & christa, i'm just going with it!!! -

Best Ceremony Time?

I wanted to maximize the amount of dance floor time and photographer is supposed to only work 6 hours that day. I hope and pray that they stay but if not then I understand. 6pm will only put you on a slightly tighter schedule but temps would have lowered and it would be more comfortable for guests. Jenetta - thanks for posting your timeline!! Maye was asking me for mine. Yours is so helpful - thank you! -
Wedding colors & uses

Is there something I should be taking into my own hands? Our invitation colors are chocolate brown and blush pink and my dress is ivory and blush pink. The FH will probably wear a tan linen suit with a blush pink shirt as will my son/ringbearer. I was thinking about getting blush pink paper umbrellas, but that's as far as I was going to really decorate. Should I be taking table runners and place cards and all that with me? Hadn't even thought of it. It's completely up to you in terms of how much you want to decorate beyond what the hotel provides. Dreams in Cabo has the colored linens for me, I'm just choosing the color I want to use. My WC is getting my centerpieces for me, but I'm making my own luminarias and placecards (starfish). I'm bringing all the stuff for OOT bags, fans, programs, guestbook, placecards, luminarias with me and letting the hotel & WC mostly help supply the rest. How many people are you having?? I am having a big wedding (80-100) people so I want to coordinate the placecards / table setting on my own. If you are having a smaller wedding and don't need to necessarily figure out table settings prior, then I'm sure you can have the hotel supply placecards for you. check with your hotel WC. -
Melissa - it looks GREAT!!!!

Getting Legally Married in Cabo or California??????
jpkw replied to DreaW's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
we're getting legally married in CA (hopefully prior to our Cabo trip). my brother is 'marrying' us in cabo. I didn't think about the paperwork thing and having him sign it with the Cabo date - I have to look into that. great idea - kash. A few people know we are doing this, as well as my family, but we cannot let his mom find out. She would not be happy (it's enough of a struggle to get her down there anyway!) -
Wedding colors & uses
jpkw replied to MikkiStreak's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
our colors are red & turquoise, but we are mixing in other bright colors in the ceremony with the flowers & fans. bm dresses = red gm / fi attire = tan linen pants, white shirts (still NOT sure what color tie FI will have, maybe red or a lighter shade of turquoise / ocean color)? flowers = mixed colored gerbers, each bm will have a solid color, i will have mixed. my maid of honor will have red. we will also have red roses sprinkled on the aisle & have the flower girls carry more (not sure if these will be a diff color, white maybe?) tables = white cloths with turquoise napkins, turquoise bows on chairs placecards = white starfish tied with red ribbon & placecard with name written in red (or maybe turquoise) - i have to experiment fans = bright mixed colors (will be placed on each chair at ceremony)monogram - red/turquoise = will be used throughout, on tag for welcome bag, on program, on guest book, on luminaries -
Has anyone used her? I am looking for someone and will definitely be interested in hearing others' experiences.

Rehearsal Dinner To Do's
jpkw replied to BRENDASTAR's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
We are doing our rehearsal dinner in doors at Dreams (Portofino) but we are having it be a Mexican theme. They are covering the tables for us with Mexican blankets and we are using the white candles they already have. I am creating really cheap bright place cards. I'll post shortly. We are renting a sound system from them for Ipod and microphone for speeches. Our goal is to not have to do much for the rehearsal dinner, so I would suggest to check with what the resort can provide you as Christine mentioned. -
Sarah - I love them!!!
-
Maye is taking care of my centerpieces for me which will be $12 each & includes a hurricane with sand, large candle & 5 votives. I am also buying shells from her to sprinkle around the table & I have my starfish place cards. I hope that's enough for a centerpiece. Anyway, I think the $12 is a good price which will include 5 votives. I do need to price out individual votives for the luminarias. I want candles everywhere so I will ask her for her prices. $2.50 per votive seems like way too much!!! But it's one of those things that becomes a pain to carry down...
-
A friend of mine got some of these for me as an engagement gift. I love them!!!!!
-
Kate - I am also undecided about this. I need votives for my luminarias and already have so much stuff to bring down that I'd rather have Maye or Mariana get them for me. I'll ask them & let you know. let me know what you decide too.

Sarah - those are fantastic!
