  1. Hello and welcome. To see videos from all over the Riviera Maya sorted by Venue, Photographer, Coordinator and Decor go to: PlayaWeddings' albums on Vimeo Happy Planning
  2. I've lived here in Playa del Carmen for three years now and I always enjoy October weather (I missed Wilma). It does rain but hardly more than a couple hours now and then, it's nice actually. The ocean is still warm from the summer which I like but the temperatures have dropped. Most people here rely on the seasonal nature of the tourism business. The Summer is hot and slow and people are really glad to see the tourists return in October and everyone is happy to please. I think you get the best service early in the season rather than late when everyone gets overworked and jaded. Something to consider. So I say, go for it!
  3. Here are some videos of weddings at the Royal in Playa del Carmen PlayaWeddings' VENUE: The Royal Playa del Carmen album on Vimeo
  4. Here is a video I shot at Azul Beach Hotel: Natasha & Jake's Wedding Day on Vimeo
  5. Welcome. I shot these videos at the RIU: PlayaWeddings' VENUE: RIU Resorts album on Vimeo All were shot at RIU Riviera Maya except Melanie & matt which was next dooe at the RIU Mexico. I think the gazebo is relatively private given the fact that it is an All Inclusive. Hopefully some shots in these videos will give you a better sense of the place. Happy planning.
  6. You can check out some different resort weddings here: PlayaWeddings' albums on Vimeo and here: PlayaWeddings' albums on Vimeo These are videos I shot here in the Riviera Maya. I live and work in the area. I'm happy to help answer any questions and share more videos with you. Welcome!
  7. Welcome. Here's some video clips at shot at the RIU Palace. You can get a sense of the resort and the options available in planning your wedding. All of these are at the RIU Palace Riviera Maya except Melanie & Matt which is next door at the RIU Mexico. PlayaWeddings' VENUE: RIU Resorts album on Vimeo
  8. Welcome. If your considering the Riviera Maya, here's a great resource of different videos I've shot here. You can search by Venue, Photographer or Coordinator to get a great picture of the different options available here. PlayaWeddings' albums on Vimeo
  9. Sol & Matt's Photo Session on Vimeo Here's a video clip from Sol Tamargo and Matt Adcock's wedding day. This is the Photo Shoot segment of the video. It was a great honor to be hired to do the video. There were so many photographers there as guests and they all had cameras. Everybody shooting each other, such fun. Sergio (Sergio Photographer) was the official photographer. You see his photos in this clip. I also used two shots from a guest, Ben Chrisman (http://www.benchrisman.com/splash.php): .. if your interested in seeing more Photo Sessions from photographers in the Riviera maya, including Matt & Sol (on the backside of the camera) see this album on my Vimeo site: PlayaWeddings' _PHOTO SESSION album on Vimeo
  10. I've worked with Mannia Sound and Light here quite a few times. They do the entire sound and light setup and provide DJs. Carlos Martinez is the owner and a nice guy. the email is [email protected] and the Mexican phone number is 998 889 9226. index Many of the resorts have DJs in-house or exclusive contracts so your choices are limited. Mannia contracts with several of the resorts.
  11. I've posted over 60 videos from the Riviera Maya area on my Vimeo site. I've organized these into Albums with the categories listed below. I'm always adding to this collection and adding categories. If you're interested in any of these vendors or venues I think the videos will be a very valuable resource. Combined with Matt & Sol's photo tour, there's no better resource for planning your destination wedding. 12. No matter how loud and clear speakers and a docking station sound in your home, they will NOT (or barely) be loud enough in a reception setting. I've shot weddings where this was done and it doesn't sound good. The reception sound system will be worth it. $250 is a fair price for this and you won't regret it. All you need to plug the iPod in is a mini-stereo to RCA cable. They sell them at Wal-Mart here in Playa del Carmen for $5 or you can buy one at any Best Buy. They make fancy "iPod" cables that are the same thing but cost more like $20 but it doesn't really matter which one you use.

Did you play one song for the wedding party to walk to and then another for the bride? Did you play a song during your sand ceremony? I checked the timecode on Susan's wedding at Dreams Cancun and it took 1 minute 20 seconds for her to walk the entire aisle. From the ramp behind the pool to the alter.
  14. Yes, this is the video I shot at Cannon House in Akumal: Stefanie & Dave Wedding Day Edit on Vimeo
  15. Here's a video I shot at Villa Sol y Luna. It's really a great place for a wedding, one of my favorites. Having the whole place to yourself to do things on your schedule is something you just don't get at a resort. Sheila & Uri Wedding Day Edit on Vimeo
  16. Here are a few videos I shot at Xcaret Eco-Park. These should help you visualize things: PlayaWeddings' VENUE: Xcaret Eco-Park album on Vimeo
  17. Here's a video I shot at Dreams Cancun, enjoy: Susan & Matt's Wedding Day Edit on Vimeo
  18. Yes, great venue. It's the only All Inclusive right in the middle of Playa del Carmen. I've shot several videos there and have always been impressed. The reception's on the beach are really well done. I've always worked with Mannia Sound and Lights for those and they do a great job. Here are some video clips from that venue: PlayaWeddings' VENUE: The Royal Playa del Carmen album on Vimeo
  19. Here is the video of the ceremony, it's about 45 minutes long Sol & Matt's Full Ceremony on Vimeo Here is the First Dance Sol & Matt's First Dance on Vimeo I'll be posting an edit of the ceremony and the photo session soon.
  20. A Videographer will start at $200/hour but a poor video is pretty worthless because you'l never watch it. If some sort of document of the day is all you want then you're better off having a friend or family member do it for free. 3 hours of quality video will run $1200 and up. About 3K for something that will look great on a big flatscreen TV and that will be something you want to watch over and over and show to everyone you know. A quality videographer will shoot with 2 or more cameras and shoot in high definition. Delivering in High Def is a bit tricky and expensive now but the high def cameras will produce far superior results on a standard DVD. The new HDTVs really show the flaws in obsolete or cheap cameras. If you choose to do it yourself I suggest two camcorders. One on a tripod near a speaker for a steady shot with good sound. You can edit this together with a handheld camcorder getting the close ups and have a decent video. Nobody can watch more than 3 minutes of handheld camcorder video with bad sound.
  21. Here is a video I shot at Dreams Cancun: Susan & Matt's Wedding Day Edit on Vimeo I am an outside vendor and not affiliated with the resort.
  22. I've posted the Wedding Day Edit video from Susan's wedding here: Susan & Matt's Wedding Day Edit on Vimeo This was the clip they showed at their At Home Reception after the wedding. Also on the DVD is an additional 25 minutes of edits that cover the whole day as well as the Ceremony and all the reception events in real time.
  23. I just spoke with Sol on the phone this morning. She's nervous and excited, por supuesto. We're getting ready to go to the wedding. We'll be shooting the video so there will be photos AND a video for everyone to enjoy. Stay tuned.
  24. Natasha & Jake's Wedding Day on Vimeo Here is a video of a wedding shot at Azul Beach Club. Although Azul Beach is a Karisma hotel, they seem to be more leniant on the "outside vendor" policy. I have another wedding booked there in January. The wedding coordinator there appreciates quality and happy clients.
  25. Los Itzaes Fire Show on Vimeo Here is a video of a great fire show in the Riviera Maya are. All the music is live. The show was 40 minutes, this video is 5 minutes of highlights. I've written about this fire show before on the board, now I got the video clip online. This was at Kool Beach Club, a great venue for receptions and perfect for the fire show. The bride and groom were just flipping out, raving about the show. it was the perfect after dinner thing to get everyone fired up (pun intended) to party for the rest of the night.
