Hi! Not married there but I have photographed a couple of weddings at Blue Tulum and have stayed there, it is a fantastic wedding location! Here are a couple of images, there is also a featured wedding from this location on my website (Jen and Royce) you can see the ceremony and reception areas, the lighting on the dance floor was brought in especially for my clients which I thought was amazing! Best wishes!

Hola! I just realized that Milena's amazing Mexico wedding was featured on the a the Para Ti Novia website, a blog that is dedicated to "redefining the modern Latina wedding" I knew the feature was planned but somehow I missed seeing the actual interview and was excited to find it today!!! I hope no one minds my sharing that but as a photographer I just love seeing my incredible brides recognized for the rockstars they are and I also was very happy to see the Best Destination Wedding mentioned! Milena, thank you so much for sharing your photographs, it really means the world to me.

Hola! Due to a major server crash at our hosting company the Elizabeth Medina Photography website and email account have been inaccessible since Saturday Feb. 20. Apparently during the annual fire systems check someone activated the system and it ruined the hardware! We apologize for any inconvenience this very unfortunate situation may have caused. We are told it will probably be a few more days before things are back to normal. Probably the most difficult part of this situation is that any emails that have been sent during the two days the website has been offline have not reached us. It is quiet here, and one thing we are not used to is an empty inbox! So if anyone sees this and had sent an email and been waiting for a reply, or would like to contact us, please note this alternate email address. [email protected] thank you!

Oh my goodness, I feel famous, it is fun to find this thread from three years ago come back to life. Time really does fly, how special to go back and see the familiar names and faces, so many of whom I actually who I actually saw get married!!! Kate, I can't wait to meet you! -
Milena, thank you so much for sharing your slideshow and for your very nice comments! Lindsey and I just watched it again ourselves! I totally agree with the comments that you are a beautiful couple and that the event was amazingly well planned. What most impressed me most though was how absolutely everyone present (including bride and groom) came together enjoying every single moment! So much happiness! As they say every cloud has its silver lining and as terrible as it was to have the wedding pushed back because of the flu) the day could not have been more perfect, it was SO worth the wait! Edited to add: Thank you to everyone who takes the time to look and comment on the photographs (especially watching our LONG slideshows!), it is hard to explain how much it means, I really appreciate it and that is certainly not anything I could ever take for granted. Here are a couple of images from the blog post.

It really is a gorgeous, gorgeous location and the architecture and grounds have a very unique, natural feel. I love it that they have bikes and gondolas all over the resort that you can use to explore. At the wedding I shot there the bride arrived at the ceremony location (MK Blue) by gondola, how cool is that? The Fairmont Mayakoba just really stands out in my mind as an amazing resort. That said, I will probably never forget the price of the bottle of water I bought there either!

Hi there Excellence brides! You all chose a fantastic destination, congratulations! Hope no one minds if I pop in for a second to comment. I would hate for any of my brides to get the wrong idea or worry based on this incorrect information since my policies have not changed at all. Quote: Elizabeth Medina charges you travel and you have to put her up in a hotel room the night before I do travel in from about 4 hours away however I cover all travel costs myself other than the cost of one night's hotel for the night of the wedding. (to avoid making the drive twice in one day + shooting a wedding!) We do not need to stay at the resort, although it often works out better than way for our clients for us to be onsite because of required day passes and vendor requirements, etc. There are NO additional travel charges. I hope that is helpful! Best wishes for your weddings! Elizabeth PS, Since I can't seem to post with out photos I am attaching a few along with a slideshow from the Excellence Playa Mujeres.

I love San Miguel de Allende too! the weddings I have photographed there have been so amazing. The place has so much charm, ambience and romance as well as a wealth of local musical talent, wonderful, wonderful flowers, fantastic food, and a million varieties of tequila. It is my impression that it is a perfect place to have a memorable wedding without a huge budget. Of course each group is different and maybe if your friends and family members are beach people there may be no getting around it... but I really think the guests at the weddings I have photographed there have seemed to be over the moon thrilled by their experience in San Miguel de Allende. (I did mention the tequila, right?) Just in case it is helpful here is a link to the blog posts from some San Miguel de Allende weddings I have shot. Best wishes! Elizabeth

Hola! I hope no one minds if I pop in to share BDW member Donna and her groom Patrick's wedding and trash the dress slideshow. I think that no one ever expects rain for their destination wedding...much less a hurricane! On Donna and Patrick's big day a the Royal in Playa del Carmen Hurricane ida was making its passage through the waters off the Mayan Riviera's coast, so things got a little crazy in the weather department. Despite the crazy weather the wedding was PERFECT and it was so amazing to trash the dress on the deserted beach the next morning!

No need for cold feet at all! El Dorado Royale is such a fantastic location, I wish I were there right now! Here are a couple of my most recent slideshows from the EDR, hope they remind you what a beautiful wedding location you chose. Linda and John Camille and Chris Lauren and Ryan best wishes! Elizabeth

Hi Mona! Thank you for sharing your photos and of course for being a wonderful couple to photograph! It was so great to see how all your plans came to life on the day of the wedding, it was one of those weddings where the day seems to just fly right by! I really hope the photographs portray some of the emotions of the day and how much fun everyone was having in Playa del Carmen. I could tell that your guests were going to be talking about the wedding for a LONG time. Here are a few photos to give an idea of how the different locations in Playa del Carmen were used on the wedding day, there are more photos on my blog. Getting ready with the girls at La Tortuga. The Catholic ceremony. Dancing on the Quinta Avenida on the way to the reception... Bride and groom on the beach at sunset... The reception at the Kool beach Club.

Here are a couple from my blog...ring photos can be fun to do when there is time and it is something that interests the bride and groom. When I do these I try to incorporate details that are evocative of something unique to that wedding. For yours that are going to be done later it occurs to me that you might use your dress fabric or some other element that you have kept from that day.

Hi there Playa Fiesta brides! Magalie, Someone emailed me about this thread and want to make sure that I am not the Elizabeth you are trying to reach out to. (I am pretty sure that is not the case since we had corresponded earlier). I do try to respond to emails, usually the same day but within 72 hours at most if traveling, emails can go astray though and if it is me, plese shoot ma another email! Kate, Thank you so much for having such a happy, knock down gorgeous wedding! I am very proud to be able to showcase it as a featured wedding on my website, it brings back great memories! You will all love Playa Fiesta and I am sure your guests will have the time of their lives! They will never forget the experience! For any venue that has a more restrictive fee based photographer policy I would suggest just asking directly what fees must be paid by photographer and/or client and once you have all the information out in the open you can weigh your different options. Mel, I loved seeing Evrim's photographs from you wedding! They are fantastic! saludos! Elizabeth
