Lisa, I've meet Sandra while she was working at the Paradisus Riviera, back in the days I used to shoot lots of weddings there, she ROCKS!!!, we became good friends, and yes! she's invited to my wedding. Congrats on getting married at Dreams Tulum, I like it a LOT! and Sandra will do great coordinating...

  4. Hi ladies! Has any one found a website with good deals for paper lanterns and lighting supplies? My wedding is going to be "in the jungle" ... kind of.. no much light around the area where the reception will be , and I'm thinking on filling it up with paper lanterns and lights everywhere, so... any suggestions?

Martha, I've shoot weddings there and like all the tree options they have, but the gazebo in the tulum side is gorgeous!, look at this pics: If you want to look at more images at weddings check out this slideshows: http://www.soltamargo.com/weddings/tobi&jon http://www.soltamargo.com/weddings/susan&aaron http://www.soltamargo.com/weddings/trina&terrance

I live here, and all I can say is that the weather in the caribbean is always unpredictable BUT, you are planning on a destination wedding!, so OUTSIDE!!!!!, I can't believe the WC is recomeding inside... , they always have a plan B, so no worries, plan it outside and if it rains, you can move somewhere else... My wedding is on december 6, and I'm also afraid of mother nature trowing a surprise, but no matter what I'm planning for a palmgroove beach view... if it rains, we will run to the palapa!
  9. Thanks Kay!, I have to get on that...lots to think about!!!... Glad you like the canopy, I'm sure you can make yours as pretty...

Yazmin de la Mora, lives in Playa and she's my wedding coordinator, and she's in the food and catering business, I'm totally sure she can help you, she's a member of the forum too, but here's her email: [email protected]

Laura, Here's a pic from the gazebo, ( a videographer friend of mine was joking with me about this photo, he wants to borrow my helicopter!!, haha... ) I shoot this pic from a room balconie at the 12 floor... This gazebo is pretty private, and it's not at the beach level, so no, you WON'T get speedos in your wedding photos... haha... if you want that, I can suggest other locations... jk.. If any one wants to see more pics of this wedding venue, let me know!...

I'm living with one of those brides now, and your posts certainly aren't helping to calm her wedding nerves (or mine for that matter!) I totally understand your situation, we are planing our own wedding and it's a lot of things to deal with, and we just want everything to go perfect and smooth on our wedding day!... I'm sorry If with our posts about EDR we are making you and your bride to feel panic..,I really think that any couple on a wedding day is "untouchable" and deserve to have the wedding they planned on, and paid for, perfect in every sense! so, NO ONE has the right to mess with that, even less when you are bringing business to the Resort. There are many hotels around the Riviera Maya that ask for a "fee", and EDR has been inconsistent with their policies, and they have been changing wedding coordinators all the time, our clients have experienced that, and we are just trying to warn future couples of this situation. However, we will continue shooting weddings at EDR because the location is higly requested. I particulary LOVE the El Dorado Seaside Suites, and I really hope Lomas Travel look into the best interest of their clients by allowing them have the wedding photography they want. This is a lot of blablabla... you are going to be fine, and have a wonderful wedding !!! from the bottom of our heart we wish you a happy day!!!

All of our friends and relatives could not believe how amazing her work is! Patrick, thanks a lot for posting this review, I feel humble with your comments, you and Steph were awesome, and I have to say that there was a poweful force making everything so perfect for your wedding day; sunset was the most amazing sunset I have seen at the Riviera Maya.... a divine touch...
  15. Ann, WOW!!!!.... I love Mexico and I love the place you choose for your wedding, sooo beautiful., you looked gorgeous!!! and I love your veil, can you tell me where did you get it??... I'm shopping!!!!... Leigh, great job, very nice...congrats..
  16. Matt and I have been looking for a NON Resort wedding location in the Mayan Riviera for our wedding on december., and we found this one: http://www.secretjewels.com.mx I'm in Atlanta, he is in Playa del Carmen, so Matt went down and shoot this photos, to show me the location, this aren't edited or really artistic, but they show how the place looks like: matt adcock photography First photo is the beach view from one of the villas; Second photo is the main gate, the entrance... then there's this "jungle path" that leads to the palapa... then there are photos of the Villas... I like it!!! This is a new place, they are still working on it, it will look nicer.. I'm picturing ceremony on the beach, and reception on the palm tree area, having the palapa in case of rain... They are building a swimming pool, they said it will be ready in 6 weeks.. I imagine lots of tikki torches, candles and lights making this place perfect... Oh! and Ilse the owner has been great, responding quickly to my emails!! So, I tough I needed to share with other brides looking for this kind of venue. There are 3 villas, that can be rented to stay there the whole week. Or you can stay in Cancun or Playa and just hire transportation to come here for the wedding. This place is located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, on Playa del Secreto.... We haven't book yet, but I'm hoping by next week Matt and I will have a location and a wedding coordinator to help us start the planning!.. YEAY!!!! Hope this helps other brides looking for the perfect NON Resort beach wedding location!!!

Wonder if they needed to use a flash? ~Knock on wood~ I want my reception out on the terrace. Hope I didn't just jinx myself for bad weather. Jill, I had seen that one once before, very nice as well. Paula, It was actually me talking about the "gazebo lighting difficulties" and YES I used an off camera flash, controled by a transmiter on my camera, so everytime I wanted it to go on, I trigger it... it worked very good. Terrace is really nice, very private and you have the amazing blue of the ocean in front of you. I'm glad these images are helping future brides!

The other 2 weddings are at "Del Mar" (next to Lindo) This is a huge resort, that has lots of nice places were to take photos, it's really cool... Hope this images help you visualize the location... Saludos!!

I have had other requests to go and shoot there but for so many reasons I haven't gone back yet. For new brides, I will highly recommend this place if you are looking for a "small resort" with a mexican feeling to it., chapel is wonderful, so cute!, and the beach is great!...., on top of that, wedding coordinator Sandra is just awesome to work with.. So, thumbs up for this Dreams Tulum...

I was really happy to be there!!!
  21. Loreta, I'm so happy to see your photos here!, thanks for sharing with other brides. I have to tell you that I admire the awesome job you did with all the decor, I know those where all your ideas and they worked fantastic!. I have to tell other brides something that I loved!!! and haven't seen in other ceremonies.... When walking the aisle, your bridesmaids were first as usual...but then, they played a song....you were hidding... and there were minutes before you appear, that anticipation to see the bride coming was SOOO exciting, I was really feeling the emotion, and looking at Kashif face to see his reaction... and then your face of happiness when you started walking..., those minutes of anticipation made the moment of your appearance more dramatic... WOW, here comes the bride!!!!!!.... What song was it??.. Do you mind sharing? I have SOOO many amazing photos of you, and of you and Kashif together..., if I would have included all in the slideshow it would be hundreds...; you had the perfect attitude, and I think I'm going to write a post about this... how to look amazing on your wedding photos!!!!..., so thanks a lot for having me there, AND for the inspiration!!!
  22. I think I have to give my side of the story!... if you ladies were tearing up, imagine my self!!! When Matt emailed me for the first time, sending the engagement photos he shoot of my clients, and writing with great passion about how lucky we were to do what we do, I was instantly touched, and I told to my self: "solecito.. this is a great friend to have!! ".. After a couple of months he finally came (alone his buddy couldn't make it.. fate??).. we hang out for 10 days, and I "knew" he was the one..., at the airport when he was leaving, I told him: "we are meant to be together.. you'll see"... imagine his face.. hahaha!!!.. he told me, wait to meet me a little more, I'm a crazy guy!!!...( I guess I'm crazy too!!) When he left, I told my friends, I just meet the guy I'm going to marry!!!.. he doesn't know yet, but we will marry.... you'll see... Well, Matt went back home, with a mexican bacteria in his stomach, but that didn't keep him from returning a month later, 8 pounds skinnier, hahaha..., but back to Mexico and to me... He already told the story about the hurricane wilma, and our "extra time together"..., then we spent christmas together and the next time we saw each other (the fifht time) was at his sister wedding..., you read the story..., I got a ring!!!... and the photos to tell the story!, didn't he got the greatest idea??... I was clueless..., So to make a long story short... I am so excited about life!, I meet my parter and soulmate! and we share the passion for what we do!!! Thanks everybody for all the nice comments!, I can only agree that he is cute!.. haha... and that we are meant for each other... Our wedding plans for december are still on the process, there are lots of things going on in our life!!! I'm sooo happy!!!
