Leigh, all this websites are great resources, you are right by offering this suggestions to any brides that may need to re-plan the wedding and look for more options. If this aren't enough, or out of budget, then we can still find lots of more people Any way, good luck to all the brides that may be in trouble right now, we still don't know for sure where Dean will hit in the Yucatan Peninsula and how serious the damage will be to hotels, BUT... in Mexico they are ready, and experienced , so hopefully things will be back to normal very fast!..

I've been so worried thinking that he may be not be able to leave the area before the hurricane... but, he got a ticket, so I'm relief... The places where they are , are very rustic... holbox is a tinny little island, that gets evacuated everytime there's a big storm coming, the ports gets closed and no boats are allowed to be in the water, that's why the goverment took everybody out (or is still taking people out) to prevent life loose... Well, Valladolid is very old little town, is approx 3 hours from Cancun, they have a main square where there is a beautiful historic hotel!... I'm very happy to hear that they had the wedding there, it's a unique place.. I admire the courage of the bride, Vannessa ... that in the middle of caos was able to put her self together and come up with plan B..., that turned out really nice too!... This story is amazing, and I'm sure the images Matt shoot will show us... Now I can only hope everybody can get in a plane and out of there!...

I just uploaded this photos to my blog, this was a big wedding, the ceremony was in a church.. then a reception at the South Seas Resort on Captiva Island., Florida I keep telling to my self how lucky I am to do what I do, I'm not very good with words, but I try to do better with photos!... Every wedding is the "same" ritual and formula, BUT every family, and couple is different, and there are always surprises! Getting to see the tears of a grandma, looking at the bride and maybe remembering her own wedding day..., a kid just being a kid and doing spontaneous and silly things..., family and friends laughing out loud and having the best time, a bride & groom hugging and non stop kissing into each other after the words "you are now husband & wife" ... WOW!!!! How can any other job be better that this... Diane & William were soo into each other, they both cried at the ceremony, and had the best fun at reception, a very passionate couple... any photographer's dream!, so easy for me to get amazing moments captured in images.. I LOVE LOVE my job!!!!! and looking at this images my heart smiles!... How wonderful LOVE is, how lucky is everyone that has found the right person to share a life!... The best snorkel tour, is the easiest and cheapest available!... .. once you get to the dock at Isla, you will be approached by "vendors" offering the tour, this guys runs little boats,(will accomodate 8 pax aprox. each) they are with the "cooperativa" wich means they ara locals. Price depending on the time of the year will be 20-30 usd per person. They will take you to snorkel, and to a beach where they will grilled the most delicious fish ever!!... they have a special recipe "tikinxic" (not sure if I'm spelling it correct)... Anyway, you will spend aprox 4 hours with them, snorkeling, riding the boat and eating.... , afternoons are better, less people and you get to see the sunset!.. Good luck!!!

Isla Mujeres
soltamargo replied to jenvh's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Here are other few pics that I could find, this are older weddings I don't have many images, but they can give you the idea... The next GOOD wedding coordinator I can recommend is Maria del Mar, from Weddings Isla Mujeres Mexico, Your seaside wedding is customized, wedding parties, or intimate private ceremonies, creativity and ambience for the perfect wedding experience., she actually owns the hotel "Cabanas Maria del Mar, which is in Playa Norte, I wish I had more pics, but check this out: I also found this photos from Hotel Villas Rolandi, wedding coodinator was Juliette from Papillon Weddings & Events - Isla Mujeres Mexico Isla is a WONDERFUL place, I highly recomend it. If you want to talk to some of this brides who have had their weddings there, email me and I will give you the contact info. I live here!, so I know... AND Isla don't get the crowds that Cancun does on spring breaks..., I've been in the area for 4 years. -

Agains other coments in this thread, I will highly recomend a wedding in Isla Mujeres, actually it was our first option, but bu ended in a different location due to the group of people we are bringing and the things we want to do. BUT, I have shot lots of weddings in Isla and I LOVE LOVE it. As for activities for your guests, the snorkeling and boating, and fishing is awesome... I can recomend 3 different places & wedding coordinators: Zama Beach Club, the BEST!!! This is a big beautiful place, awesome beach, a pier, a palapa, a wonderful pool... is really really my number #1 favorite location for a great wedding.. http://www.sunhorseservices.com/ Tiffany coordinated this wedding I shot at Zama Beach (I wanted to get married here!). If you want to see more, click on this link to open a slideshow: http://www.soltamargo.com/weddings/daliene&jeff Since there's a limit on the images I can post, I'm going to do 2 more for the next 2 recomendations... -
We are starting to put things together, I wanted to have music in the website but it was too much to ask for a weekend project; Matt's father created the website and our new blog for personal stuff, it's a lot to do on a couple of days... We don't have the links to our vendors yet, but we will put them on, and share all the details that might help other brides... I'm in Atlanta, until probably november!... so all my planning is trought the internet, with the help of our wedding coordinator Yazmin de la Mora. Matt is heading down to the RM on wednesday and he's going to go again to the wedding site, and look for more stuff that we need, like the cator for food and the music... But I'm happy we are getting stuff done!...
