Welcome Catherine, there are a lot of cabo brides here that I'm sure will be able to help you and there is tons of information on this sight. Let us know if we can help in any way.
  2. I guess for us the whole reason we decided on a destination wedding was because we couldn't afford to pay for a $25K wedding at home, nor did we want to spend that for 5 hours with our friends & family. We will have a relatively small number of people at our wedding and as much as I want us to have beautiful pictures, we don't really have a lot of money budgeted for the photography. My FI is not convinced that the photographer that I want so so much is worth $4K, he things its silly to spend that kind of money on pictures and I can understand where he's coming from as much as I'd love to hire this photographer, I know it's really not in our budget. But I found someone else for $3K and I'm hoping he'll let me get this person, we'll see.

And it will give us more time to explore mexico while we're there. Is anyone else going to EDR or have been there?
  4. Welcome! I'm also getting married in cancun at dreams. Let us know how we can help!
  5. I don't really know too much about those resorts, but I'm getting married at dreams-cancun and I know we did get a discounted rate for our daughter. I think for the hotel for 5 nights she was 250, and then whatever her airfare costs. I think most hotels offer discounts for children.

    Im new!!

Welcome! I'm getting married at Dreams in Cancun. Tell us more about what you are looking for in a resort, will there be children?, all inclusive?, etc..
  7. I was looking into St. Lucia for my honeymoon. I also looked into Antigua for my wedding before deciding on mexico. I think they are both great choices! I think we decided over the weekend that we're just going to stay in mexico for our honeymoon, but move over the the El Dorado Royale.

I'm so torn because I love Ladera & I soooo want to show steve the pictures and tell him all about it, but at the same time, I don't want him to have any idea where we're going and then I will get to see his face when we get there and he sees how amazing this place is. I told him this last night when we went to dinner, so now even though I ended up trying to show him the pics when I got drunk last night, now he won't let me because he knows I really want it to be a surprise.
  9. Tammy does dreams cancun always set up welcome reception? Do you have to ask about that? Andrea, I also looked into destinationweddings.com and never paid the $50 because I didn't really like the idea of paying for something that I didn't know what I would get, I have not heard anything good about them from anyone! Tammy (host) is a wealth of information and she would definetly be able to help you with your travel arrangements
  10. Has anyone ever been to St. Lucia?? I am trying to decide where I want to go for our honeymoon, I am looking at the Ladera Resort, which is absolutely gorgeous!!! It's a little pricey for us with the wedding costs and all, but if I actually do some work when I'm at work instead of spending all my time on this forum, I'll have a great commission check in February and will be able to pay for it, hmmm, now how do I force myself to get some work done!! Check out the resort: Caribbean Resort - Ladera St Lucia let me know what you think

I chose dreams, Jackie chose (I think) occidental Xcaret, there are a couple of girls that chose moon palace, those are the major ones I can think of right now, but there are brides that chose others as well. There is a lot of information in the RM/cancun thread on all different resorts. I chose dreams primarily because they allow children and it wasn't enormous, I prefer a smaller resort (I think they have about 400 rooms), because I would still like to run in to my guests from time to time. Let us know if you need more help!
  12. I agree, I've seen them on many different websites in bulk for a lot less

Glenda, welcome to the forum! I felt just like you about a month ago, so overwhelmed & so many places to choose from. Steve & I originally said we wanted to get married in Cabo, but then after doing some research we found out that to travel to cabo from mass (where we live) it was going to be pretty expensive for flights, as Tammy said a couple posts back. We were trying to keep the trip affordable for friends & family, so we decided against cabo and chose dreams cancun. There are a lot of beautiful resorts in riviera maya and cancun if you want somewhere that won't cost so much for flights. But if that doesn't matter then there is tons of information on cabo here, lots of cabo brides who will be able to give you tons of great advice! Good Luck in your planning!
  15. I so want to go to Tahiti & Bora Bora, but we are so far away from there!! I would say do Tahiti if you can, or hawaii. Those are both places that from the east coast have super long flights so, since you'll already be on the west coast I'd go for one of those, you never know when you'll have the opportunity to make it to one of those places again, at least that's how I feel.
  16. Welcome, I'm sure you'll find this site helpful for finding information on the resorts you're interested in. Tell us whats most important and maybe we can better direct you.
  17. Welcome Daria, good luck with your planning!
  18. Oooh, I love all of those dresses, especially the two morilee and I love maggie stottero dresses. This style skirt is what I originally was thinking, and I still really like them, just not sure how they'll look on me, I'm sooo short. But I'm going to try all different styles when I go, I can't wait to start looking!
  19. I agree, I'm trying to limit the amount of stuff we have to travel with, especially items that can get broken. I'm going for the simple, minimalistic look!
  20. If I ever finish it, I'll post it. I know how you feel about being all over the place, I am so upside down right now I don't know what I'm doing. That's kind of the reason I decided that starfish was going to be my main theme, so that I would have some consistency and it would just be a big clusterf*ck!
  21. I think that will be really pretty with the starfish & the sea glass. I don't know if you want a specific color of sea glass or not, but I remember seeing the sea glass somewhere and it was mixed colors, so that might be an option to look for if you want a lot of different colors.
  22. I really like this idea. Ann, the one you have with the two starfish, in black, I actually picked that clip are picture when I was working on a logo/monogram thing for the wedding, too funny! I haven't finished it yet, still deciding.
