Jennifer It was a very difficult decision & time consuming process! I started out wanting to go to cabo, but I live on the east coast so flights would have been more expensive. I looked into some caribbean islands, and I loved Antigua, but again, the flights there were very expensive. My TA recommended dreams because they do great weddings and they were in the price range I was looking for, for my guests. She had at first suggested EDR but we have a daughter that will be with us for the wedding, so that didn't work. But I have heard so many great things about EDR and how wonderful it is, so we decided to honeymoon there. We also knew it wasn't too far from cancun, so we wouldn't have to travel too far. Again, for our honeymoon we also looked into the islands, St. Lucia looked beautiful, but it was going to cost us so much for additional flights, and the resorts we liked were pricey. hope this helps, picking a place is sooo hard, it gave me nightmares! Are you still looking?

okay, couple more questions (I'm sorry!) Could you tell me how much the DJ was? Did you have to pay for the dance floor? Did you find it too dark, windy, or cold with the reception in the garden area? How was the mariachi? Also, did you write your own ceremony or did they have something already written to use ?( I say this assuming you had a non-legal ceremony) Thank you!

I love snooze! I really wish I could get out of bed when FI gets up in the morning & work out, I feel so good when I do it, but I just can't seem to get myself out of the bed. It would feel so much better to, to know when I get home that I don't still have to exercise.

I had him for 2 hours and he took about 500 pictures and gave me CD right away to pick pictures from. When I got home I picked 100 pictures that he printed (80 4x6, 20 5x7 and 2 8x10). He printed them and mailed them to me along with high resolution CD. So that was pretty convinient. Resort Photographer: Since I had a wedding package, I was using resort photographer for ceremony pictures and some reception. Pictures came out good, I think I have about 20-25 pictures. Compared to Michael, you can tell these weren't made by a professional and she didn't use digital camera either. Video: I used the person provided by resort. He took the video of ceremony and part of reception. He actually did a really good job and our DVD was available next day. Reception: We had a sitdown dinner and a coctail hour before that outside in the garden. Everything was beautiful. I brought my own decorations since I didn't want to spend a lot of $$ on flowers for tables, but it was too windy and I couldn't set anything up. Claudia (wedding coordinator) did put something like a centerpiece with candle in big hurricane vase. So unless you want flowers, don't worry about bringing your own centerpicies. The food was very good, everyone liked it a lot. Please keep in mind that its really really windy near wedding gazebo!!!!!! So make your hair accordingly. And I mean REALLY windy! my vail was flying in all directions!!! what else... Sound system: you do need sound system for the ceremony because noone will hear anything you'll be saying. Its too windy! I know its expensive but worth it (for video at least). Hair and make up: I think they did really good job on my hair, although it took them 2 hours to do it... Make-up was so-so, I had to make them redo it 4 or 5 times... They were making me orange for whatever reason... So keep in mind to tell them what to do. I think this covers most of it. Please let me know how else I can help! Thank you so much for this information. A couple of questions. You mentioned you had your reception in the garden area, was this at night? Was it lit up? Also, did you have a dj? I was thinking of bringing our IPOD and using the sound system there. Did you use either the mariachi or the caribbean trio? Or did you not get that package? Any other tips for the rest of us? Thanks for your help!

Thats a nice idea sherri! Are you putting a pic of you and FI in it? Or is it for them to put a pic from the wedding in it?

I haven't worked out in about a week, lol, but I'm back on tonight and every night this week, keep me inline!

Its not that I don't want to give them a gift and I haven't decided yet if I will, I did think maybe it would be more of a thank you for everything else in life, not just if they make a financial contribution to the wedding. I guess I'll have to really think it over. I was considering making them an album with pictures from the wedding, but obviously I wouldn't be able to give them that until later.

Bringing your fiance dress shopping?
*JillD* replied to starchild's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I say no. My FI and I do everything together too, but no way would he come dress shopping with me and I don't want him to see me in my dress before the wedding anyway. I printed pics of a lot of dresses I liked off the computer and had him look through a davids bridal catalog to see what he really liked, he actually liked a lot of the same styles I did, so that makes it easy, but he doesn't want to know what my dress looks like, he wants it to be a surprise. I have also gone shopping by myself, most of the times I've gone, and I love it. Its so much better than having a million people with you giving their opinions. I've know narrowed my dress choices down to 4 (really 2, but I wanted to have a few dresses to show my mom & sister) so I'll try those on for them in a couple of weeks and make my final decision. -
We had talked about doing a simple bbq type reception prior to leaving for mexico, when we thought that a lot of the important people that we wanted to come weren't going to be able to. But now most of those people are able to come and I don't want to plan anything else or spend any more money, so we've decided against this. We had also thought that we would do this in place of a shower because I didn't want my sister who was supposed to be my MOH to spend any more money, but now my sisters pregnant and can't come to mexico, so she really wants to throw me a shower, so we're just going to do that. Steve & I already live together and have a house so we don't need a lot of stuff, but it will be fun to register for some fun things. And then the greedy side of me hopes we'll get lots of money instead of gifts!

I have a question, do you still get the parents gifts even if they're not contributing to paying for the wedding?

Melissa, Rebecca, Jackie & Amy, thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I preferred Citlalli's style over any of the other team members. I'm happy I found her. Melissa I will PM you the info, yes we already need to watch out for hailey with the boys, she's so social and outgoing, we are going to have our hands full!

Thats so great! Thank you Tammy for creating such a phenomenal place for us to share information, you're the best!

Wedding band question?
*JillD* replied to weez's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thanks for the link Christine! I showed Steve that site and he liked them, I think thats a really good idea! -
Thanks Everyone! Its funny because all of Steves family thinks hailey looks just like him, and all of my family and friends think she looks just like me. Steve & I have a lot of similarities, its hard to tell from that little picture, so I can see where she looks like both of us. I know I need a sig pic, but I have no good pictures of us, we always forget our camera!

Wedding band question?
*JillD* replied to weez's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Christine, I'm not sure if I know what that is? Are they expensive? -
Brenda, claudia had sent me a file with 3 cakes, but I can't find it. They were very simple two tier, white cakes, with flowers. I could care less about the cake, if it wasn't included in the package I probably wouldn't even do one, so I'll probably just go with one of the ones she showed me, with flowers to match whatever I decide.

Wedding band question?
*JillD* replied to weez's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
We joke that we're just going to get steve a ring from a gumball machine. He works in construction so we know he's going to beat the crap out of it and may even lose it, so I guess that means I get to use all the ring budget for me, j/k! I want something with diamonds because my e-ring is a simple diamond solitaire, so my band will dress it up more. But steve will just get a plain band. -
Dreams Cancun

I've always wanted Roses, but I love orchids too, I might try to combine those.
