  1. Hi Cynthia! Where in PV are you getting married? I'm a PV bride too!
  2. I feel bad venting. I hate talking bad about my mom, but I am so annoyed and hurt. My mom is amazing in so many ways, but she is not the type to get all mushy and talks about her feelings. Which is fine, I understand. However this is my wedding, I am her only daughter and I am the youngest so you would think she'd be a little more eager to help. I've stopped showing her wedding stuff a long time ago. She would leaf through bridal mags and flag dresses for her, I had to drag her to my first day shopping for a dress. I went on my own the rest of the time then brought her back once I found the one. My SIL and mom went with me to find fabric for the BM and FL dresses and the entire time she was looking for fabric for her dress. Again, I know how she is so I deal with it. So today she brings me a mag and says that I HAVE to add lace to my drop veil and wear it as a traditional mantilla. I ordered a 180 inch simple cut drop veil which I think looks simply beautiful, but my mom and SIL think its just plain and in their words "blah". I personally think its elegant. Anyhow, we are adding lace to our FL dresses and the lace is $32 per yard! Thank fully we only need less than 4 yards for all 3 FL's so that's okay, but could you imagine buying that many yards for my veil! I simply don't want to spend that money and think the drop veil will be fine. Plus the length of the veil is what makes it dramatic. I don't think its "blah" at all. I try to explain to my mom that I don't want to spend $200 on lace for my veil. Its money we need to spend elsewhere. She tells me, your dad is giving you money you can use that for the lace. Um no, my dad offered to pay for a mariachi or marimba band for the cocktail hour not lace for my veil. Moreover, have you seen our guest list? UGH!!! So she walked away pissed. Why is she adding so much stress?

They were both shocked when he started to get famous. They said he was pretty quiet even at parties. Hmm there is this other guy is/was a model, Anthony Gallo. I was going through a magazine one day and came across a Pepe Jeans ad, and swore this guy looked familiar. I ripped out the pic, pulled out my year book then stalked this guy on Myspace. Yup it was him, but he tried lying about his age on MS. Funny. Did I mention that he is hot!

The only “famous†people I can really say that I’ve met other than just a brief look, were Troy Garity and his dad Tom Hayden (Jane Fonda’s ex and son). Troy (also a Samohi alumni) was very close to my older brother. Tom was even a coach on their little league team. My brothers were always stuck watching me so I’d always tag along with them or he would be at my house mixing (my bro’s were DJ’s), I even remember dancing w/ him at my bro’s 18th birthday party, he had to get on his knees to dance, I was only 11. My bro and him even got arrested together for “taggingâ€, he and his friends pulled off the senior prank. Anyhow my brother lost touch with him after he moved to NY. Troy came out in the Barber Shop movies, Soldier’s Girl, Bandits. My mom worked with Tom Hayden when he was a senator for a district here in LA. He is such a sweet person. When we were attending my brother’s murder trial, Tom attended as often as he could. I know his presence helped to prosecute the murderers. Like Christine, I’ve bumped into a few celebrities. I’ve met some celebrities at previous jobs, Daisy Fuentes, Serena Williams, Sarah Lancaster (Chuck, Saved by the Bell-The New Class), Luke Wilson, Bobby Trendy (Ana Nicole show), Mexican’s celebrities Kalimba, Monica Naranjo. In my clubbing days, I had a chance to meet Warren G, lol, don’t ask. My bro and SIL came out on an episode of TV Guide’s Ready, Set, Change so I had a chance to meet the Host, Rosana Tavarez. My SIL worked in the entertainment industry so she and my bro have met a ton of celebrities. She worked on the set of movies like the Titans, Pearl Harbor (yes spent about a month in Hawaii w/ Ben Affleck!), Halle Berry (remember the time she was Punked and her boob pooped out, my SIL comes out in the background). My bro and SIL had dinner with Marc Anthony and his ex Dayanara Torres (it was a group dinner). Any how, I can go on. Living in LA, having a mom who works for TV Guide, a SIL who worked for Disney and Warner Bros, I’ve had some encounters. I do get star struck, I try not to, but I do.

  12. I purchased these yesterday but may return them . They are a light gold and I'm not sure if they go with my dress. But they are so comfy!
  13. Morgan, I tried emailing my fonts several times and kept getting timed out, boo. I'll keep trying and divide them into even smaller files, but I didn't want you to think I forgot to contribute.

The closest thing to this was when my Bro and SIL got married, we went to their house to discuss little details for the wedding an hung out, but not a full blown RD.

I agree with Alyssa. I think this is the best. I don't see a reason to have lunch at a restaurant then moving the whole group over to your FIL's home for a party. Have a catered cocktail reception. And I don't think its tacky to let them know that you would rather use the money for this. On a side note, I have never ever been to a RD ever. Its just not common in the Latino culture (well at least not in mine).
