Any bridal shop suggestions? I was thinking of starting with Betsy's Bridal Couture, mostly because they have several of the designers that I like, and they're close. OK, way OT here - sorry gals!

LOL! Maybe she was planning to go for a dip after the ceremony? I'm with you - seems like a good thing if it's in a relatively secluded area of the resort. Thanks for posting the pic!

  4. Hey, I finally get to post a *real* picture of my ring here! Scott officially proposed Saturday night. I'm like a little girl - I can't help but look at it in every possible light to see just how sparkly it is! P.S. Sorry for the huge pics! I don't know how to resize them to make them smaller.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has taken "breaks"! We first started dating over 15 years ago, but have been back together for almost 4 years (it will be 4 years New Year's Eve). If someone asks, I will say 4 years, not 15 years. To explain it any other way is way too complicated, and in general if it is someone I know well enough that I want them to know the full history, they already know it. And I don't want to deal with that reaction you got! BTW, he is officially "FI" as of Saturday. My mom arrives this evening (coming to visit for T-day), and we haven't told here yet. I'm sure she'll be thrilled - sometimes I think she likes him better than me! LOL!
  6. Hi all! Just wanted to say thanks for posting all the cool dress pics, and a big thanks to whoever recommended bluefly.com. They have such awesome stuff! I am way, way, way far away from looking for a RD dress, but I know one place I'll be shopping for it! Thanks again! Carol
  7. OK, so I have been going insane lately trying to figure out what do do for the wedding. A tropical destination is one of the options, but so is a local wedding or maybe a "local destination" (specifically Mackinac Island). I am trying to plan it for 2007, and location is more important to me than the specific date, so I am being pretty flexible on the dates. Even for a local wedding, most of our guests will be flying in from out of town. To me, the Sunday of a holiday weekend (Memorial Day or Labor Day) would be good, since it would give people a 3-day weekend without needing to take any days off from work. Another date that looks like it would work really well for us is Sunday, July 1, and I'm thinking that people could work that into a long 4th of July weekend. How do guests generally view weddings on holiday weekends? As a bonus, or as a PITA because maybe they might already have plans? To me it seems like a bonus, especially for the people traveling from out of state, but I don't want to book based on that and find out that most people think it's a huge PITA. What do you guys think? TIA for your advice! Carol
  8. Oh, and thanks for letting me know the designer, also. I went to the Venus webpage and I found this: I like the dress is kinda cool, but mostly what caught my attention is what she has on her head. I thought it was a fruit basket at first glance! LOL!
  9. Those pics are very cool, although I always have a hard time picturing me in pictures like that. Does anyone else find that? Like, the pictures look really cool when they're pictures of someone else, but if I picture *us* in those same pictures, it just doesn't look the same in my head. Maybe it's just me... I kinda figured these pictures were done the day after the wedding. Easy enough to do - just put the dress on again the next day!

  11. I like this pic better. You can see the chapel on the left side of the picture, so this kinda shows you what would be in background of your wedding at Moon Palace. I think there are two wedding gazebos in addition to the Catholic chapel. Both are located similarly, so they would provide basically the same surroundings. Hope that helps! Carol
  12. Sorry this pic is so big! This is a picture of the Catholic wedding chapel at Moon Palace. I don't have any pics of the other wedding gazebos - they are similar, but smaller, and they don't have the glass enclosure around it.
  13. Sorry I didn't reply sooner - we were in Disneyland for the weekend! 20 minutes sounds about right to downtown. We only went downtown a couple of times (once for a tour starting location, once just to go downtown to check it out), so it didn't really matter too much to us, but it is definitely more limiting on the nightlife than someplace downtown would be. They do have a shuttle that goes downtown, but times are limited, and you have to get in line 30+ minutes before the shuttle time to get a spot. We just took a cab. Hope that helps!

Yeah, it was the casitas that sold me! How cool is that? It snowed yesterday and today - I want to go now!
  15. We stayed at Moon Palace in April, and I think it would be a great place for a wedding. The gazebos where they have the ceremonies are overlooking the beach, so you have the beach in the background without needing to be directly on the beach (better, in my opinion, but not what everyone is looking for, obviously). The horse drawn carriages were very cool! I've looked at pictures of where the ceremony is held at other resorts, and I think none of them look as good as Moon Palace. The drawback to MP is that it's a ways away from downtown Cancun, so it's more inconvenient to do things outside the resort. We really liked it, though - I would definitely go back. And yes, we really do appreciate you posting all this information! Keep up the good work! Carol
