  1. Welcome, Victoria! You may want to check out the resort page here http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/majestic-colonial-punta-cana-all-inclusive or even the DR sub-forum here http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/f/33/destination-weddings-in-dominican-republic or here is a post from another bride ... http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/78522/majestic-colonial-march-2013
  2. welcome, kelley! your wedding isn't far away at all! have you checked out either of these areas on the forum? Dominican Republic Wedding Forum | Dominican Republic Resort Reviews
  3. welcome! have you given any thought as to where you wanted to get married?
  4. I didn't do one, I just didn't want to deal with it - it defeated the purpose of getting married away for me. There are lots of conversations about this in the AHR (At Home Reception) sub-forum ... here it is ... http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/f/130/at-home-reception-ahr
  5. well, the deciding on where was the hardest part for me, especially since it was sight unseen! a TA will really be able to help you narrow down the choices based on partical things like ease and cost of getting there, resort options based on what you're looking for (AI, kid friendly or adult only, things to do off resort, etc.). so i'm glad you contacted someone. once you decide on that, the rest should fall into place!
  6. my friend had her baby this morning and named her Jacquline Olivia. very pretty, though I keep calling her Jacqui O in my head!
  7. Welcome, Jennifer! No worries, we all started out that way. But if you find the right "team" in Mexico, they can make it really easy. There is a ton of info. on this site and it can be a tad overwhelming at first, but here are some threads to start you out ... If you want a TA, you might want to try one of the BDW Travel Agents. They Specialize in Destination weddings. You can contact them HERE! If you do not know what TA you want to work with, just fill out the form Contact a Destination Wedding Specialist HERE and Tammy will direct you to the best agent that fits your needs. 8. i will say, my subscriptions changed recently too, even though i didn't make any changes. i get some, but not others. i'll bring it up with administration.
  9. don't get caught up in the "beach wedding" thing, this is your wedding, end of story. i've seen women get married in a sundress to an all out wedding gown w/princess flair and detail. honestly, this is more about what YOU want and feel comfortable in. don't think about what you SHOULD wear but what YOU feel good in.
  10. hmmm, i can't help much because i was the same way. there was no "this is the one!" moment for me. and while i loved my dress i spent waaaayyyyyy more than i wanted and in the end i would have been just as happy with a much cheaper dress. but i'm not a fashion girl so that stuff isnt' too important to me. but to me it doesn't sound like you should get the dress. are there others you like as well?
  11. I don't know any out of Chicago, but I would STRONGLY recommend one of our BDW Travel Agents. This is what they do, they help plan destination weddings. I used Tammy, and she rocked and honestly saved me a ton of headaches. Since you really do it all over the phone anyway, I don't think the location of the travel agent really matters. You can contact them HERE
  12. ooohhh, there's a contest!!! http://www.facebook.com/BDWForum
  13. it works for most, and if it doesn't you should contact administration and they will get it to work. we can't help if we don't know there's an issue!
  14. welcome to the forum! not sure if you've had a chance to look around yet, but i'd suggest starting here ... Dominican Republic Wedding Forum | Dominican Republic Resort Reviews
  15. it was such a hard decision for me too! have you read all of the reviews on them here? http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/claudiaphoto-wedding-photography (there are also reviews of Rico in here) http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/sascha-gluck-photographer
  16. yikes! this is the reason i am glad i used a TA, i'd let them deal with it! lol have you tried calling expedia to see if they can help? at least you have the option of staying with a guest, but hopefully the hotel has a room open up.
  17. wow, that's crazy! i don't know where that dot spot it, but it can't be more than a mile or so away from me. too funny.
  18. like others have said, don't worry! we got engaged at the end of Sept 2006 and got married in early june 2007. i don't think we decided on a venue until nov 2006. wow, now i feel like an old married lady ... 2007 seems so long ago. and yay, shout out to another downers grove girl! where do they live in DG? i'm still learning the area but am waiting to find out that one of you are my neighbor!
  19. Our friend's baby - Owen!
